Wine Wings are for when you are transporting a bottle of wine when going to a dinner party, etc. They're not designed to save a dropped bottle! I use them when my local supermarket has a special on 6 bottles of wine. It separates them and protects them enough when taking them home, as glass is not bashing against glass!

It's totally not related to todays topics , but I have to share. A few years ago, you did a post on countertop dishwashers. I recently just bought the Novete, it's been wonderful. I should have bought one sooner. I'm single, so the size is perfect. My home is old and in a small rural community, so it doesn't have the water pressure for a regular dishwasher. The best part I was able to use was the drain of the old laundry sink that used to be in the kitchen. There is no loss of counter space. It's on a freestanding kitchen rack, with storage below.
Thanks for the review, all those years ago. Otherwise, I dont think I ever would have bought this product. I would still be handwashing

I supported a Kickstarter from Grill Rescue for a cylindrical cooler block (stainless steel) and collar that fits in/on a Yeti 20 oz cup (or similar brand) to cool/keep cool a 12oz can or bottle. They call it Tumbler Buddy. It means I don’t have a dedicated double walled can cooler, but I do have an alternate use for my Yeti 20oz cup.
I keep the cooler block bottom in the freezer and the collar for the top in a drawer. When I’m ready to use it, I drop the cooling cylinder in my cup, insert my bottle or can, and slip on the collar to keep it in place. It definitely works. If someone already has a 20oz Yeti cup, it would make a nice accessory for it.

Wine Wings - while I haven't used that specific brand, I've used others like it for several years now. I use them while traveling to bring glass to/from my destination. Ex. bringing a bottle of liquor to guests or bringing home souvenir perfume. In addition to padding the items in your luggage, they (at least the ones I use) also seal against spillage. So if the item inside breaks, you don't end up with the stuff all over your luggage & clothes. Only ever had one item break inside (due to major abuse by airline) and it saved my stuff from being covered in a sticky alcohol.

I recently bought two Yeti 20 oz. tumblers for enjoying my kombucha and keeping my tea hot at work. I love them so far! It's hot here now, and out camping last week the ice remained in my cold drinks all day long. I figure I'll be using them for the rest of my life, so it's worth the price to me.
For the wine bibs, I just wipe the lip of the bottle with a paper towel or cloth after each pour. I personally don't think it's a problem that needs to be solved with another gadget.
I wrap fragile glass bottles in cloths and put in bags or tubs if it does break, so never had a need for something made specifically to protect bottles of drink or food. (Also, seeing those bottles break made my heart cry...what a waste of wine lol)
I have no opinion on the egg mould...it's not useful to me, but I guess kids would love dino shaped eggs lol

I've been buying wine at my local winery for years, and I had never seen one of those washers. Leads me to think it's not a real problem.

By the time one would be dropping the bottle of wine, it would be empty anyway.

You may have mentioned it and I just missed it but the yeti can hold looks very similar to the frost buddy. Which can hold multiple sizes of cans and some bottles

You're probably not old enough to remember when phone lines went digital, there was created a 'dialer' one could use. You would key in a number and save it to one of the available slots and could physically write something on the 'menu' to know what number one, two, three, etc. were. Then when you wanted to use it, you just held the dialer speaker up to the phone receiver and push the selection number and it would 'play' the tones to dial the number. A little black book still seems the best way to store and keep private numbers than anything made in the last 50+ years.

I use the Colster everyday to have a cold drink in my lunch bag at lunch. I don't know which brand has better manufacturing-- definition not Stanleys--so they're mostly identical. I hope the car battery rings work; I never knew to use them to catch wine.

I should point out, the foam cozy did okay, however when the can is wet or gets condensation, it tends to transfer heat more and be less effective. I digress, however metal vacuum sleeves don't have that problem

The problem with the wine wing test is that you had dropped it a few times before. It could be that the bottle had weakened a bit from the previous drops.
I think it would have been better just to start from average height.

The same thing tends to happen to phone screens. After a drop it might appear to be undamaged, but it can develop micro-cracks that over repeated drops weaken the structure of the glass more and more until it eventually shatters into a spiderweb of cracks - even from what would have otherwise been a minor drop.

Pretty sure I wouldn't pay $13 for it but the Dinosaur Mold was (to my surprise) pretty fun to see that it worked. I can see that a young dinosaur fan would be delighted to open their lunch to that, lol. I can also remember my own mother going to the trouble of shaping my lunchtime sandwiches with cookie cutters when I was young so there definitely might be a market for the dinosaur egg mold. Great episode as usual (love the Baily shots, lol). Have a great week!

This red ring at the first glance looks cheap. Wine tasting and fancy dinners use usually white napkin around them, not a garden hose red ring.😊

Can coolers are great if you live where it gets hot and aren't shotgunning your drinks

    • @FilmFlam-8008
      @FilmFlam-8008 18 дней назад

Coozies, yes. Single Can Coolers, no.
If it is hot out, you should be drinking WATER or something with electrolytes, not pop/beer.
And having a ready supply of available hydration is better, ie a cooler with ice and multiple drinks.
Coozies are good for keeping a can cooler a bit more while keeping your hands comfortable. They also are compact.
A can cooler is a solution in search of a problem. Better for casual drinking inside an air conditioned office where you may want a “lid”. But in any actually hot environment, you will drink the can very quickly, and then you have to lug around an empty shell.

Load and Lock vs Lock and Load... it's order of operations... it would be interesting to see you lock the Yeti first and then try to load your can into it.
It makes sense with firearms because you want to lock your safety and load your magazine.

The wings are probably useful if you put a lot of wine bottles side by side in your trunk or in a box and then drive them somewhere. It could protect the bottles from crashing into each other. Dropping is obviously too much.
