My voice was a bit unsynced with my video during the livestream, hopefully fixed for the next one! Also, I went over 30+ portfolios on stream (couldn't include them all here) but you can watch the full stream if you'd like to see them all! ruclips.net/user/livehocAh4VyR_M
When I'm hiring candidates for , the first thing I look for is how many hours they have on Geometry Dash. Because obviously that correlates directly to programming skills. Additionally, during the interviews, one of HR's favorite exercises for candidates to do in interviews is rewriting MegaHack v8 from scratch using raw C++ with no libraries.
Man your ability to just repetitively look at dark portfolio sites and then switch to a bright exel sheet is crazy, i can visibly see the increase in brightness in your facecam. Its definately one of the reasons I know how legit you are. Personally I'd change the color of the exel doc to save your eyes long term but you do you, i could never do it.
The only scenario where I can see steam being a good thing to link is if you're a game dev linking to games you've developed or worked on. Otherwise hell no.
ngl i'm proud of having steam on my profile lmao, all my commit history is private because of work/college, loved the roast though you gave me actionable items to work on when i go out of a job i guess xd
Dude I saw the hours of dedication to everything you do. Push heavily that you're dedicated to your craft and you'll do well. There are like 2 main points for hiring (in my eyes): systematic problem solving and sheer dedication. Disclaimer: I have literally never hired anyone and graduated 7 months ago so I am an expert.
“Linux terminal” sites are cool and all, but giving that to a normal recruiter and having them figure out what command will tell them more about the candidate between all the random rubbish commands doesn’t feel good to me
Wallenart guy here, no commands on my portfolio but it indeed doesn't work very well with non-technical people. I did land me a nice gig with technical agencies as a freelancer, though!
this is kinda like those guys that work out thinking it's gonna get them a bunch of chicks but then they find that only guys are coming up to them to compliment the muscles lol. programmers making portfolios for programmers
I still dont get the problem with having 4 or more roles. Yes HR gets bluescreen when they see you know how to do one than more thing. Also those amout of hours proves you are a devoted, what all companies search for people that are long term. But at the same time i understand you need to keep your private life put of your CV but then yiu should tell HR to stop asking stupid questions about personal life like hobbies
I think the biggest problem is that it just screams "Here are the 4 roles I can do, I'm not particularly great at any of them." Which might not actually be true, people have hobbies and develop several skills in their free time that they can use at work, but a hiring manager might just say: "People spend years at a university learning how to be a full stack developer, or they spend years learning UI/UX design and development, or they spend years learning game development, or learning product management. And you say you... can do all of that? Yeah, right. Next!" Of course another hiring manager might see all of that and go: "One employee for the price of 4? Great, just what we were looking for!" and give you the job right away, so it's not always bad to list all of your skills, it is just luck in the end.

If your audio is async, just use `await` on the video roll 🙂

Only apply if you:
- Know ReactJS
- Have 6+ years of experience as a dev
- Atleast 6000 hours on Geometry Dash
@@AnthonySistilliNeed at least 18 years of experience for an entry level position in a framework that was released a week ago.
Theres only one guy this applies to, his name is Spu7nix and he made an entire scripting language for GD lmfao
@@farkler4785 Lmao true, you're referring to spwn right?
@@farkler4785 Or are you referring to how he ported brainfuck to gd?

Thanks for reviewing my portfolio and selecting me as Steamer's Favourite of the Day.
It made me super happy.
I loved your portfolio too

even then the standard is to have a separate dev profile. No one needs to see that shi 💀
Hilarious how he got so annoyed by the typing animation thing and then basically every single portfolio after had one
16:17 He definitely gave this one a high score because the developer looks like a younger version of himself.

You're actually a legend bro - appreciate you being a good sport and submitting your resume. Wear those CS hours like a badge of honour
lol

how is your steam now is the comment number rising?
Nice video and stream. How often are you planning on reviewing portfolios? Also, can we have access to the sheets in the video?
Sheets link is in the description :) The stream will be maybe once every two weeks
@@AnthonySistilliOh sorry I must have missed the link. Alright, I'll patiently wait then
These random numbers like 20% boost in ___ stuff in resume is for boosting ATS score. Is making your resume ATS friendly genuinely important nowdays?
This is a synchron for your information
This was a pretty fun and informative stream

As a backend developer who hates frontend I have no idea how to make a portfolio.
Thankx for reviewing my portfolio
I do have to ask, wouldn’t a hiring person be into the whole ChatGPT boring long sentence thing? Isn’t that what they specialise in?
oh wow its jared's colleague!!

I love these folks saying "I like UX" and have shockingly bad websites.
Like, ask your design friends to look and give you a 👍or 👎
I've had good feedbacks (wallenart) :D
I just realized it...HE USES MAC!!! fair enough if he is a designer though.
I don't know if you'll see this but I submitted my 3D animation Reel. I'm actually curious how you'll rate it as a non animator.
Yo can we get review of your steam games
My favorite part is the cs roast...

I rate your execution a 7 because you cleary had valid arguments but your video is fucking asynchronous
How to get portfolio reviewed
Link a steam account with a bunch of games and zero hours to show them how commited you will be with how little you play games.
You said "like" 190 times in this video
If you link your steam, at least have some levels and be riced af, with only +rep comments
+rep
"You've Enhanced 3D quality of site by that push" 😂😂
I often wonder how people are getting this feedback.
😅 I've linked my steam on my github and even on my office id card. 😅
I need that copy paste please the comment
4 years ago my portfolio have I am a___ = I am a human the word human in different languages
Gosh please stop using these Typewriter effects it's so annoying
