I love my portal personally. If you have shity internet service I can understand why you wouldn't like it, but mine is pretty damn good and it connects to my Playstation in a matter of seconds. It lets me play games while I can watch whatever I want to on the TV in the background.

I’m a dad, only one TV in the house. I’ve always used my iPad with a Bluetooth controller connected to it. That works great! But my place is small, it’s not always convenient to set it up on a table. This may open up some options, couch, lying in bed and possibly taking it a few places??
I founs that if i use my mobile hotspot the connect to public wifi my phone becomes a router for my ps portal and that is how U connect my portal to wifi. Good thing about this is that my mobile hitspot data is not used up.
My only issue with the portal is the hotspot connection with my phone. Internet on my phone is top notch. Its FAST. Yet for some reason, even though it connects and i can see it uses data of my phone, it NEVER connects to my ps5 🤔 does anyone here know what im doing wrong ?

It’s essentially the same. Just don’t have worry about using your phone or iPad. It’s just nice to not have to carry my ps5 or ps5 controller around with me. I just carry this one device and that’s it. My phone and iPad is free to do other things. Like be on the web. Etc

I have had a smooth gaming experience. Every now and then I have micro stutters, but other than that it has been smooth for me and my ps5 is not connected to ethernet. It is on wifi. But I do want to try the SteamDeck OLED or ROG Ally.
Glad it suits some people. I may try it out again in the future. It just sucks traveling for work with a ps5 and when I'm home the wife has other plans.

If you care about being able to play whenever and just not around WiFi then no. But if you have access to WiFi at any given time and or have kids, game in a room where you are sharing a tv then it can be very useful. This device is niche based

My only real complaint with it is that I can’t get it to wake my PS5 from rest mode. I’ve changed all the settings several times and I’ve rebooted the system. I can’t get it to turn on. I always have to use my controller

The reason it likely couldn’t see the WIFI at that Starbucks is because it can’t only connect to 2.4GHz and not 5. So if it was 5GHz it likely couldn’t see it.
One game that I love playing on my portal is overlord. It was so freaking fun and it looked way better than my switch. That how much I like the game but it just look way better on my portal

I’m a truck driver the T-Mobile hotspot all you have to do is plug it into the socket. Call it a day you got Wi-Fi all the time.

Yes. I'm a truck driver too. Never had an issue with the TMobile Hotspot. Plugs into the Kenworth T680 and works great.

you have to configure your Internet settings correctly. specially if you are not on 5g internet. it will not work at all

the main issue with public wifi is that many broadcast 2.4ghz and 5ghz with the same name and Portal does not support 5ghz -_-

Yes that’s should be reliable. PlayStation recommend a speed of at least 5mb

Not yet. Or maybe never. Xbox can do the whole streaming thing without an Xbox at all. Perhaps the ps5 is used processing the games.

People that don’t like it that’s fine I on the other hand had mine since lunch and I like it I even took it to my friends over in New York and they had really good Internet and it worked little laggy but worked just fine and I live in Washington state so that’s a long ways from home so I’m happy with mine

i got 70mbps on home wifi and can barely connect. when it does connect its laggy asf..

Does not work on nat3 network, most European cell providers use NAT3 protection, so no phone hotspot!

I just feel like Portal would’ve done so much better if it just allowed you to connect to your PS5 without having to use Wi-Fi I don’t really understand why it needs Wi-Fi if it’s connected to the PS5 and it’s just mirroring what you see so I don’t understand why the Wi-Fi is needed. I just play my PS5 with no problems connected to the Internet. The portal is not the same it lags like crazy and I’m right next to the PS5 .. I’m not in another room or at work so I don’t understand why it’s so bad.
I got my mine 3 days ago and I love it I’ve been playing the portal more I have really good wifi so i don’t lag at all dude I been laying in bed playing hellDivers for hours….

I recognize you from your F150 channel lol but I'll sell my ROG ally to buy the ROG ally X. The portal is kind of useless because if you don't have wifi, it's paperweight 😂
lol you the first one to catch me or at least say they recognize me from my other channel 😂 but I like the portal. It serves it purpose for me. I have been wanting to try the Steamdeck, legion go or ROG Ally x though. Eventually I’ll get one of them.
