@TheElonMuskUniverse of course. Sure, you'll be tackling a different kind of math in college, but you can never go wrong in re-learning the basics and fundamentals in Math. That's what I'm doing right now.

@@sanmatidhartikamath3771 Well, a review of the concepts in a compact form is what you want if what you're here for is review. I realized how much I had forgotten that I knew about math watching this video, which wouldn't happen as effectively if I had to go back and go through the entire Algebra 1 book to review. Instead I watch maybe an hour of review videos and realize what I already know and where my current math understanding comes from. Your comment comes accross as demeaning, which I'm sure you didnt mean. But a little awareness of how you might come across could benefit you.
I don’t usually comment, but this is overdue. I haven’t studied any Maths for 12 years as I worked in a field totally unrelated to Maths. Now, I am considering a career shift to programming and realized that I forgot everything that’s why I ended up studying your videos. Another thing is that I studied Maths in another language not in English and thought it’d be difficult to study in English, but you made it simple. And to find all of it organized in one playlist with logical, simple, a step-by-step manner is satisfying my OCD😅. I am still in the process of studying for my career shift and hope I would make it within the next two years. Thanks a million professor Dave ❤

03:00 If 10 is an estimate between 5 and 15, then isn't the 1 in the tens place is only 5/9 certain, since the actual number might be between 5 and 9? If we made an estimate of 15 between say 11 and 19, then the 1 in the tens place would be certain. Sorry to be pedantic. Loving the course.
Im going to have a test soon ( high school entrance exam yes we do have exams in my county)and i was really disappointed because my exam is literally afrer 6 days and i kept solving alot of math questions wrong I decided to give up and go watch some RUclips vedios then i saw your channel and im truly thankful for that i won't give up again ❤

Your more recent videos are on content that I have already learned so I tend not to stay til the very end (Your content is wonderful and informative though)." Don't hate me". My tip is to put the patreon tag or link on your channel art background. You could check my page out as reference if you'd like. And even making a quick 3 minute video about what a patreon is and how it works could also help drive people to becoming a patron. Also, most of your viewers are high school/college students, so having a lower tier for support might be a good idea. You are very popular in the field of science (At least at Auburn University Chem Dept), so don't get discouraged. I hope you have a good one Prof Dave. -Josh
I feel so silly for being proud of my ability to round numbers in elem. I shouldn't have felt proud of that, because I knew I didn't understand multiplication, which means I had a hard time with the rest of the arithmetic. Lol Luckily, understanding math got way easier as my brain matured. I need to seriously catch up...
This guy basically completed the every unit of math in school up from kindergarten to twelfth grade in just a bunch of 5 minute videos.
is this good for college too ?

Such an underrated playlist
He's so good that I dont even speak english well and he stil can teach me how to think about math. HES A GENIUS!!

For context this is for my memorization purposes and do not intend to become creepy
Professor dave here let's Talk about place values
Wheb we started countingnthings thousands of yeard ago we quickly realised that number's can get very big very fast, whether your counting grains of sand or stars in the night sky
Summing up, we made numbers work how they do csuse if we made unique symbols for every number we wouldnt be able to remember them all
There for we couldnt give every possible number its own unique symbol
We needed some kind of system that uses a small collection of sumbols over and over
To repersent very numerical value immagineable
That's why we came up with the notion of place values
Say your again counting apples
You get one two three all the way up to 9
Then when you hit ten this becomes a two digit number
That's because we place a one in the tens place while the units place goes back to 0 and starts again
After it gets to nine again the tens places goes to a two indicating that we've reached 10 twice while the units place goes back to zero
This continues through thirty fourth fifty and when we reach ninety nine we've maxed out both the units place and the tens place
So we have to add the hundreds place
We place a one here indicating that we have reached one hundred while the other two places go back to zero
This process can continue ad infinitum
Every time all the digits reach nine we add a new digit to the left a one while all the others go back to zero
Thousands place ten thousands 100 thousands millions and so forth
This is a brilliant system because it allows us to repersent any number imaginable using the same 10 digits from zero to nine just
I'm combination that demonstrate various magnitudes
The place glaues where these digits can found indicaties how big or small the number is
thank you
Thank you soooooooo much
U are good sir I am very happy
i'm watching every video in the playlist and i will stop when i don't understand a video 😂 wish me luck
