In this video, I will take you on a late-night Indonesian street food tour of Surabaya to try some death-level spicy Sambal and the best fried duck in the city.
To start our Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya, we went to a legendary spot to try the famous Bebek Goreng, fried duck.
Moving on with our Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya, we tried another iconic dish called, Tahu Telor.
After that, we had the most unique Nasi Goreng I've tried so far, Nasi Goreng Cumi, squid ink-infused fried rice.
To end our Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya, we had an incredibly delicious Soto Ayam and the spiciest meal I've ever had in my life at Sego Sambel Mak Yeye. This almost killed me!

We have to say the squid nasi goreng really intrigued us, it looked so good, and oh my gosh the spiciness of that sambal at the end of the day! the food you had in this episode are on the cheaper side because they're near a college (Unair). They're all spicy, have generous portion, and affordable. Perfect for college students 👍i hope you're okay in the morning after all that sambal you had 😅

My earliest memories of tahu telor (and its eggless brother, "tahu tek") are that either mum made some at home, or we bought a portion from local hawker. It's more of a nostalgic taste that reminds me of home (because obviously the ones I bought tasted a little different compared to when mum cooked it), which is a good option when I either don't have much appetite or can’t decide on what I should eat 😊

that's the most delicious sambal you gonna taste in indonesia. in term of spiciness there are a lot more sambal around indonesia that is more spicy than that. but in term of taste, nothing can beat the east javanese sambal. maybe you should try the not so spicy one instead to actually taste the real flavor of it. if you can not really handle spicy food but want to taste sambal always heed the seller warning when they ask you "sambalnya pedas atau tidak?" just don't say pedas. even in indonesia there are people who can't handle spicy food but they love to try sambal anyday and there also the option where you can have the not so spicy sambal.

as someone who enjoys sambal but can't handle the spice, I'd usually ask for some kecap manis to mix with the sambal. idk if only my family does this but we really love to mix sambal with kecap manis 😆
