    I make yoghurt a couple times a week (I only have a 3 qt IP). The first time I make it, I use active store-bought yogurt like you do but after that I use a few tbl spoons of the last batch. I don't have a goat, so I use Ultrapasturized store-bought milk. My wife takes her meds in yogurt.

    Pricilla I think we need to trade houses for a little bit. I’m in Mississippi and it’s so dang 🥵 hot. 60 degrees sounds like heaven.
    My mother was born and raised in Montana in the 30’s. Montana is a beautiful state.
    I have recently been making fermented foods. Did you know that you can do a 2nd ferment with you kefir and it turns out less sour. Once you do it this way you won’t go back. If you check out Cultured Food Life you can learn so much from Donna Schwenk. She healed her family with cultured foods and has been doing them for over 20 years. She has so much information. I make kefir and cultured vegetables but I’m thinking of trying yogurt.
    You have a beautiful family. God Bless

    Thank you for the very informative video! I enjoy making my own yogurt in a crock pot, it's very easy! Also I would like to recommend you to try Water Kefir using water kefir grains. they look like little gelatin balls and you put them into a jar with sugar water and let it sit out covered with a coffee filter for 48 hours, when that time is up, you strain off the grains and to that liquid you add a handful of your favorite crushed up fruit and you let it sit (ferment) for another 48 hours. You will then strain that off and you are left with a slightly sweet, fizzy drink that is full of probiotics! The kids will love it!

    Hello Priscilla
    We love your content and watching your family work together. My wife and I live in Alberta Canada.
    One question I have as we made some fermented saurkraut. Are we in any danger of the lids blowing off or quart sealers breaking? We opened a jar today (a week and a half old) and there was alot of carbon dioxide and liquid that came out. Have you any thoughts about this.
    Thank you
    Garfield Vikse

    • @MontanaHaven
      @MontanaHaven 2 года назад

      I don’t think you should be in danger of the lids blowing off or the quart sealers breaking… I have never had that happen. One thing you want to do is make sure that the lids were turned on tightly. I have not had my sauerkraut bubble over but I believe that can happen.

    Laurie usually comments but today I wanted to tell you how much we all enjoy your videos. I just finished making canned grape leaf pickles. My family won’t eat anything else. I am going to try your fermented pickles. I think my family will like them too. I keep a jar of your sour kraut in the refrigerator. Larry is out on a fire in Oregon doing ground support. He will get to come home next week for two days. Sending you prayers and blessings.

    It's a common misconception that you should only use plastic for milk kefir. I have always used good quality stainless steel and glass for mine. I have been making kefir for many years. I rarely use plastic for food preparation. I know the chemicals used to make it are very unhealthy for our bodies.
