Despite the budget, and occasionally dated elements of the effects, what's commendable about Dreamscape is how the filmmakers went full-blown with their imaginative style, crafting worlds which were suitably bizarre, surreal, and in every sense of the word, "dreamlike". It's a far contrast from those days of yore to the modern era with such endeavors like James Cameron's "Avatar", which combined an excessive budget with too little imagination, having the freedom to go anywhere and everywhere they pleased, but instead reducing their conceptualization of an alien world to a derivative assortment of landscapes, creatures, and cultures that were merely slightly embellished representations of everything we're familiar with here on earth.
Great review , I appreciate how you always add a little nugget of information you don’t normally find with other cult film reviewers. You nailed the description of Dennis Quaid .”Harris Ford with a Jack Nicholson Smile” 😂.. looking forward to your next review. Amazing work thank you.
@@MatsMovieReviews my pleasure, well done on this review. after watching it i went over to another youtube channel that had the full length film for free, no strings attached.
Saw it as a kid, the nuclear nightmare scene was otherworldly out of context, and the guy impaling this smooth skin man at the end was horrific. Like the tree sequence from beastmaster....
So controversial, this screen play. I wonder who is the liar? “ People don’t lie to you. They lie about themselves in your presence...” -Lisa Feldman Barrett- p.s. I ♥️ Enemy Mine.
Dreamscape vs. Inception. Dreamscape had potential, Inception had names. Dry, unimaginative dreams are easy. Heady, Imaginative dreams die. Guess which is revered - Inception. Why? remembered... Recency.
good review. i remember seeing this movie when it first came out at the theaters. i was in high school then, and was driving. thought that it was cool. also saw the Nightmare 3, and read the Masterton book about people that can travel inside people's dreams called Night Warriors, have you read that one? all great fantasy material. bonus reality video. ruclips.net/video/vyAh9OENJPU/видео.html
