I've never felt the feeling of community and love as I did when my husband became permanently disabled from stroke. People brought food to me while he was in the hospital, drove my kids, cleaned, yard work, fundraisers, visited at the hospital. It was crazy!!! Such LOVE. I could never ever thank people enough for all the support they gave and continue to give for years!!!❤❤❤

I am single and almost 67 and love your blogs. Makes me feel like having a family.
It is very hard for me to ask for help and seems like the older I get it gets harder to seek out help. Two men from church just came over in the fall and cleaned my cutters. The young man next door wanted to know if I had Christmas lights he could put up for me. Which I didnt have because I cant put them up, (I bought some on sale for next year though).
It's hard asking for help as I dont to be a burden as i get older.

I live in the craziness of New York City and going to work everyday riding the subway and walking through the streets of Manhattan definitely makes you a little harsh as a person and on how you live life. Sometimes it desensitizes you. Seeing the life of people like you guys that live in a small town reminds me not everything has to be lived as a hustle and I do like the hustle, idk if I could live in a small town, but seeing you guys do reminds me life is more beautiful and that there is more to it. Maybe one day!

You're so right... We do seem to forget when we're trying to get through each day in the hustle and bustle in NYC... We're always in a rush and Moody lol... I try my best not to be that way but you do get caught up... I work for MTA and I've come across both wonderful people and the rudest as well... You just have to learn how to handle yourself no matter where you are in life cuz there's nice and rude people everywhere... In small towns and big cities 😊✌️💕

We live in a small town rural area. We are in the country and our neighbors are amazing. Last winter when we had a bunch of snow come and my man had just had his first foot surgery and I’m not comfortable driving our late 1970 Chevy plow truck by myself but our our farmer neighbor came over with his tractor and big snow blower. It was awesome of them to do that. We love our neighbors!

Years ago my ex and I lived in Yakutat and even though I was young and pg and missed my family in the lower 48 I loved the closeness we had with the FAA and Weather Bureau families. WE had only two ways in and out of there, fly or boat. So even though I hated flying I got a lot of in while living there. Spent a few weeks in Fairbanks but knew I couldn't handle it and so returned to the lower 48. Oh also spent a few months in Bethel, Ak. Sorry was one of the worst places I ever lived again stuck flying as the only way in or out. But all in all Alaska is a great place to live but you better like very short summers and very long winters. Sorry if i sounded negative because I am so glad I got to experience Alaska. My favorite place to visit was Juneau, awesome place.

Your talk of small town community coming together is very alive in my community. On December 18 my small town lost 3 people (mother 42 yrs old, son 18 yrs old, daughter 9 yrs old) to a house fire. The father and one teenage son made it out with burns. The community within a few days raised over $70,000 for this family and it is still rising. So a small community is truly a blessing. When one has to fight we all fight to help them.

I live in a very small town. I love the small town feeling. I grew up in a nice small town. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer people came out of everywhere to help. When he died the community support and respect for him was so amazing and almost overwhelming. I should mention he was our local fire chief.

I am glad that you went to the Doctor Bert. Your leg looks nasty and very painful. Glad nothing is broken! Follow Dr's orders! Sometimes it is hard to let others help you. But it helps them to feel good and give people a chance to give back. I totally get having a hard time accepting/asking for help. I live in a large suburb in NW Illinois. I think small towns are probably better for people helping each other as people get to know each other. That is more difficult here.

    Dear Bert and Jessica!!
You are a Blessing in our lives!! Thank you so much for being loving, caring kindhearted people that you are!! You are so blessed to have such wonderful people, your family, your church family, and neighbirs, in your lives too!!
You are very lucky to have a family so close. Most of our family is either in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua Mexico or in Prescott, AZ. Getting time for a visit is quite tough for us since we run a An Allergy Asthma office in El Paso.
We just subscribed to The Moore The Merrier and look forward to following their vlogs!!
Bert, We are so glad you went to the doctor to get your leg checked out!! That's an impressive bruise!! I'm glad you are healing!! My husband empathized with you!! He had a similar accident about 5 years ago!! Thank God you are OK!! Many prayers for a quick recovery!!
Jessica, we were working when you had the premiere. I clicked on the vlogs and it showed the live chat and the premiere would start in 5 min. Since that was my first time seeing a premeire, I noticed the glitches. Would you want to go live?? Just a thought!!
Sending hugs and love your way!!!
    Take care!!
    Pamela

We also live in a rural area...my uncle and grandpa plow the roads and people's driveways just because.

I was born and raised on Kodiak Island and I now live in Phoenix, of all places lol. But yes, the thing that I miss the very most is the sense of community that accompanies small town life. Plus, Alaskans are just amazing people anyway. Down here in the lower 48 everyone is in such a rush and nobody has any time for anything or anyone else beside themselves and while I understand, I also miss the motherland like crazy. Alaska is truly a special and magical place. I lived in Fairbanks for a couple of years like 100 years ago when I was in college (the first time around, lol) at UAF and my boyfriend at the time was in the air force so I spent a lot of time in both North Pole and on Eielsen AFB, too. So I TOTALLY understand and wholeheartedly agree with your opinions about small town communities. I ❤ AK with all my heart!

It is surely a small community thing! I have family in some of the little towns in Central Maine and everybody does for everybody, no questions asked. And longer time residents don't keep any tabs, or track of "favored owed" they just do and know that when they are in need, it will be done for them.

Such a blessing that Jessica & Lance came over to help with the wood supply and your neighbor coming by to plow out your driveway. My husband grew up in the country and I grew up in a suburban city in SE Michigan and we both want to live in a smaller community. I don't like the hustle & bustle of the city anymore. I never really have. I always used to tell people I'm a country bumpkin living in the city. Hope you feel better soon Jessica. Going to check out the Moore the Merrier RUclips channel now. There is a gas station, thrift shop, convenience store, a bar and a couple restraunts. It's about a 40 minute drive to the closest grocery store, Safeway, and an hour and a half to Walmart. One day we will move up there to get away from the bustle of Tucson. People are so nice and welcoming.

I feel that, it was that way back in anchorage growing up... it was a community of people that helped each other, when my dad had his reoccuring cancer's our neighbors plowed and shoveled for my parents and even mowed their lawn so my mom could focus on his care. I never felt unsafe until I left a couple years ago. It is great that your sister and her fiance and your neighbor were able to do that because that is what true community is about!

In April of 2018, we had a scare - our furnace had a part that broke, and so it kept running and running and running. Right after supper one of our smoke alarms went off (picking up on too much heat coming out of a vent). We got the kids out, got the dog and cat in the truck, all while calling 911. As the first fire truck showed up, so did our neighbors - in huge numbers. One to take care of our dog, a family took our kids to their place and had a “party” to distract them, ladies showed up to sit with me, men showed up to help my hubby - as we were wondering where the source of the smoke was. 2.5 hours later the FD confirmed it was the furnace and it was fixed the next day. But we were surrounded. Coffees brought, hugs and prayers shared, kids and animals cared for. We live in a small village. I’m the same - I prefer to give than receive, but my gosh, did we feel loved and cared for. Praying you feel better Bert.

There are around 90,000 people in the "town" I live in, Duluth Minnesota. It's a total small town feel here. Just today when I was returning from my errands I saw an older neighbor gentlemen struggling to clear the snow from his sidewalk and stairs. I happen to have fallen on an icy curb last week and separated some ribs from my sternum. I am unable to shovel currently so when I got around the block to my house I rushed into my house and sent my husband down to help the man out. I've never seen him before, I don't know his story, but I know that we should help those who need it, no matter what.
Don't ever feel bad for taking help either. You get what you have given. 💙

I live in a very small, very rural town. I love it. There is a sense of unity. Recently, a family lost there home to fire. My church held a an auction and dinner, and raised over $12,000. I could name example after example. I love small town living.

hope your knee is feeling better soon ,, just found your channel and binge watching to try and catch up quickly.. loving the videos, so so far from my daily life (living in sunny So Cal).. your kids putting the bowls in the freezer made me smile, wouldn't it be easier to set bowls outside front door of house to freeze faster

I live in a big city, but in the apartment building where I live, there are very special people who help others out with gestures of kindness without asking of anything in return. Quite often my family is in need of a helping hand as sometimes happens, just like it has to others at some point. Usually these special people will donate their children clothes that they have outgrown to our family, as we are on a fixed income, and when we are done with them, we donate them to a local charity. We have often even received gifts of food from them too.

Love your channel! Have gotten several hematoma’s and also several surgeries on my knee and I recommend kinsology tape. You can look up how to tape to help break up the blood clusters and also to give support.

I liked the live feed, but got kicked off it so I watched it later. I’m glad Bert’s leg is doing better! I live in a smaller town, but unfortunately it doesn’t have the feel of the North Pole. I think it is super sweet that your sister, brother-in-law, and neighbor came to help you guys out. You don’t realize how much you do until you are injured and then can’t accomplish much at all. I’m glad your home is super well insulated because we would freeze here if it ever got that cold 🙂
