3D PRINTING Super Mario - How SMOOTH can we get him?

- Testing the limits of the 3D-printer, trying to make an ultra smooth Super Mario. For a long time I've wanted to apply some of the things we have done when doing console modding to 3D-prints to see how nice figures it can make, and it turns out surprisingly good. Im really happy we did this, and I'll most def make more of these in the future.

you guys are so talented! love the projects. Binge watching them all😄
What about the M????????????????????????????? :O
oh no... seems it went missing :'-(
It must be his secret twin!
To avoid copyright infringement
How? It's fan art, personal use and entertainment.
Don't push the B button because Nintendo are assholes like that
Love the Sheep sweater ;)

Same
im working on getting one lol
idubbbbbbbbbbzzzzzzz
That's some next level painting skills!
He is your brother
Hi Simon!
I think u should try using an air brush
You can clearly see how the paint have dried "runny" and is probably coated too thick and wet (look at the pants under the right button), quantize the paint to thinner layers would be the proper way, plus if you want a deep gloss, than polishing the paint before and after clearcoat is a good idea.
RCLifeOn I just watched your video of you painting Rick from Rick and Morty before this
Dont think its a good idea to spray just beside the printer.. Im sure you get some of the spray dust somewhere onto the printer..

Great video dude, I think it turned out awesome. This is the very first 3d printer video i've ever watched. Not for me. but that's something to be proud of
love it so much thank you !!
Always..ALWAYS print vertical when possible. You may need to cut your model if its too big, but it allows you to put support in a better distribution pattern, goes off easily and leaves less noticeable marks to clean up later. It also gives a better finishing, since horizontal lines give more resolution
Watched the whole thing! Thanks for the entertainment, man!
I got some great tips from your video, thanks bud!
Really amazing job, man!
Awesome work
That was really cool! I think I would've liked it more if the details on the face were made with a paint brush, but I get the issue with the texture.
Greetings from Mexico!
Awesome !
Very nice! If you really want to make it crystal shiny, wait about a month for the clear coat to completely dry, then use the Tamyia polishing compounds (coarse/fine/finish) then modelling buffing wax.
Amazing look. I am gonna make the high poly bulbasaur and this might help me with the finish

To get support to remove easier = I don't know what slicer your using but If your using Cura changing the 'top support distance' (distance from the top of the support to the print). It should be pretty much called the same thing threw out other slicers. you may need to dig around as some slicers don't show it and it will mean you going into the settings and finding it. It will be in the 'Support' section... If you increase this tolerance slightly it will help. keep increasing until the supports come off clean. mine was at 0.15 at first and I had your problem . I increased it until 0.2 and now supports remove with ease . Hope this helps .
I guess that small small distance in the bottom-top of support setting is because cura expects you to be using a dual extruder with different filaments
I've got the same sweater! Great video dude, subbed.
Looks damn good. Great work painting the eyes.
for painting i suggest you can use liquid silicon mask from Vallejo to ask first the areas you dont want to airbrush. so can get the max out of your Airbrush
Wow looks great and really good for your first try
Nice job, I've subscribed, have you the link for the airbrush, was thinking of buying one
Good job. Love the video.
Great video on what it takes to get a model smooth and painted!
Nice! Wish you covered the turn table in plastic or foil to keep it good safe though
kult å se en så kul norsk fyr her på youtube!
Nice video , i like the spray painting
You should try poster tack/adhesive putty in the future. Miniature painters use that to mask off layers, with more control. Plus it's reusable, so you won't have to keep using bits of tape all the time!
The sheep sweater dude!
You could have printed in ABS and then given the print an acetone vapor bath. Did you consider that option?
Yes! I have never done it, but it looks awesome! Anyway, with only PLA available this is what I went for. Also after the rough support material cleanup I would need to take the same steps with ABS as well.
Need a good enclosure to to that tho..... then again a cardboard box with a sheet of acrylic would fix that.
That round of applause joke was great
You forgot the M on Mario's cap, but other than that, it looks amazing!
On the filament wheel they have recommended setting to get your prints looking good
Great video!
WOW. I love it :D
Awesome! It's Amazing ! What type of airbush did you use?
try using a dual extruder printer and make the support filament water soluble
Nice work.... impressive...
Wow, where do you have all that hardware from :o
Great tips btw, this will be very handy if I'll ever plan on doing such a thing myself.
wow looks like still a lot of work required after 3d print.
Mother of god! good job! :3 :3
If you mess around with print settings in simplify 3d about support structures you can get a "tear-away" style support structure, the best method is to make a small test model and make procedural tweaks in the settings until you find the perfect settings for your printer. Your paint skills are unreal though, keep doing what what you do best.
Again, you guys are crazy!!! I'd Definitely have not spent Near as much time!!
You can increase the distance gap between tge support and the part on the slicing program. I use simplify3d.
Your face when you heard that noise 🤣🤣🤣👌🏻
Again a great Video!
Thanks for the comment, appreciated :)
Don't be shy show the back lol. Thanks for the video!
very nice!
Hey, hope you're doing great! I asked Banggood for a better discount code that I could share with you, and I got one that can be used 30 times to knock of 120$ on the Creality CR-10. If any of you guys are interested the code and the link to the printer it applies to is below. Only first 30 can get it though, so if it isn't working let me know and I'll remove it. Cheers!

Code: bluecr10
i think its over... :(
No, it still works! :) Apply the code on checkout
after i press checkout with paypal? because there is a coupon box above that where it doesnt work
This doesn't happen for you? puu.sh/ygRhA/d09c4225c7.png
Make sure it is the exact printer in the link above :)
It worked! i unchecked and checked the box for the printer again and it did work this time, thank you :)
He turned out really good.
you can treat it with acetone vapour so it gets shiny and smooth quickly, there are some tutorials online
For easier support removal, try adjusting the support interface distance or whatever it is called in your slicer. This allows the model to adhere less to the support. On any dual extruder printer, you could of course use PVA or hips for the interfaces between support and model, saving on expensive material and giving you the ability to just throw your model in water or limonene and your support will come off literally all by itself.
1:46 METAL MARIO
For the supports you could try water soluble 3d printing mass? 🤔
can you pre-print support, using a soluble filament? then immediately change the filament to a normal one, then print?
Get a dual extruder and use the second one to print your support material in a water soluble substance.
yea at least its worth a try
Have you turned the beep off on your machine / do you know how?
My friend has that same hoodie.
Have you ever tried pei sheets cut to size I have one on my robo 3d r1+ and I don't need glue or painters tape maybe you should give it a shot :)
You could have printed it verticaly that way the finish could have been even nicer! But good job overvall!!!!
Hey a friendly suggestion for removing supports. If you get a wood burning kit, they often include an exacto blade that heats up. This way you can cut your way through. Watch out for fumes, and use in a ventilated area. You might like a sawdering gun as well as a different option.
Not sure what your slicer is. But generally you can play with support settings enough that you can remove them relatively easy
If you use Cura they have alot of settings you can change
one tip using airbrush add a few drops of paint and some drops water you use less paint and get a beter paint job in the end
hello what kind of paint did you use? thanks!
I really love the m mark
hello. What type of color did you use?
What height and print speed have you used during slicing?
7:00 is the one on your left the sassy version of you?
It doesn’t look officially like Mario you still have to spray paint a tiny M on his hat
You forgot about the M on his hat...
no worries, you could put cappy eyes there!
Wat did u use for painting is it acrylic or thinner based color? Did u mixed water ? Also i would like to know the filler u used
What is the resolution of the print and the slicer used
if you add a star on his hand i bet you can mod that in to an epic mini lamp
Woah!
Dud the mario logo at the hat
Hello , your work is very nice. Thingiverse link is broken. Is it possible to share the STL file?
Two advices:
1) Always do a close up shoot of your printouts.
2) While painting, use "masking fluid" instead of painter's tape.
Which attachment do you use on the dremel
Low health Mario SFX 6:14
Just put an M sticker on the hat and your done!!! Good job!!!
For supports: increase the distance between the model and the support structure in your slicer. 0.2 mm should be enough.
Sleep sweater ! 😍😍😍
Nice Sheep merch
what about aceton vapor?
Nice job! But where is the iconic “m“ on his hat?
Flix113 I KNEW IT I knew there was something off!
Flix113 Possibly Legal Issues (probably not though)
To avoid a copyright infringement. Without the M it's not Nintendo's Mario, just some random one.
Do you print parts for clients/customer's?
Why first paint and then prime it?
Great video! Maybe a matte clear coat would have looked better. It kinda looks like porcelain now. The sanding turned out wonderful, i'm surprised you didn't go for an acetone bath
I personally was trying to make it as shiny as possible. Glad you liked commented and subscribed. I'm accepting donations so I can take a few trips with some friends if you want to donate about $500,000.
@@kane00000 is that in USD? I gotta eat too.
@@ImmodderNation I'll have breakfast you can have dinner
The 'M' letter has lost from Mario's hat
You forgot the emblem on the Hat
A tool to remove support better and easier doesn't exist :( but you can try to fudge the slicer, with the support shape (line/accordion removes easier than grid) and increase offset, which will make supported surface rougher but support easier to pull off.
Awesome, but isn't Mario's moustache black?
Crazy. Why not print at a finer resolution like 0.10 or 0.05? Heh, I know it'll take much much longer, but you spent 2 at least days with the primer. Or you could do some "solvent smoothing".
Badass
Try to print with abs and try abs vapor smoothing
the M on the hat is missing and now I realised how similar Mario's costume is to the costume of popular German cartoon figure Benjamin Blümchen. Look it up, I'm right!
JayFolipurba not really.
Forgot M but still better than what I would dream of doing
*reads title* until he becomes flat
And with acetone?
