  • On today's Los Angeles day trip, we went hiking to Escondido Falls in Malibu. Escondido Falls is one of the most popular hiking trail in Malibu and Santa Monica area. We hike up through the rich neighborhood and then down into the valley of the mountains. The hike down was cool and full of shade. This is Malibu’s tallest waterfall and the biggest waterfall in the area. This hiking trail has a lot of stream crossings and is very fun!
A little info: There is no entry or parking fee. But parking space is very limited. There are a lot of cars that park on the street but they will get ticketed. Ticket is $73 plus $4 service fee if you pay online. No restroom available on site.

That as just the lower base of the waterfall (waterfall 1)...there is a bigger and more beautiful waterfall if you continue to the right of the trail and ascend up.
