I currently own the Garmin InReach Explorer+ and the Oregon 750. Less than two hours after the e-mail from Garmin announcing the Montana 700 series, I ordered the Montana 750i from the Garmin store. Two birds. One stone. Thanks! :-) I still need to figure how to carry it. I've been attaching the InReach to a daisy chain on my pack's left shoulder strap and the Oregon to a pouch on my belt. And all points of interest that are imported from Basecamp are shown as white hearts in a green box (favorites) - not the symbol I assigned before in BC. So if you can live without gimmicks like tyre pressure control, media player or service log, the 700 is the better choice, for sure if you also want to use it off the bike for hiking or geocaching like me. Hello!Does anyone know how much the deviation is?For example, if I mark a tree, will the navigation show that I arrived at that place at 1m or at 15-20m. I need great precision to hunt truffles at night.I used to have Etrex 30x and it showed me badly. Also my current location, on one side I am surrounded by a river and in order to change my position the river is always on the same side which it really isn't, the map didn't rotate at all?Thank you
Thank you for your question. The Montana 700 series has Multi-GNSS support that gives you access to not only the GPS constellation, but also GLONASS and GALILEO satellite networks as well. This should give you +/- 3 meter accuracy and the ability to track in more challenging environments than GPS alone. I hope this helps.
So question to you girls and guys at Garmin: do those units support the import of shaping points for route navigation, like the 276cx does? I guess it does not, because the old Montans don't do this either.
Thank you for your question. The Montana 700 series will support the importing of the same points as the GPSMAP 276Cx. As far as shaping points specifically, if you are referring to the points that BaseCamp makes in routes, then yes. But if you are trying to import a point with a .shp file extension from other programs, then it will not.
I'm very excited about this new model, but I'm curious to know if it has the same bugs as the old Montana and 276CX. Specifically, will the active track disappear when track log is full and it auto-archives? The Wrap feature from the old 276 should never have been eleminated. Secondly, when mounted on a snowmobile or ATV, will the vibrations cause the maps to dance around? Both my Montana and my 276CX are frustrating to use because when the sled or atv are idling the maps are constantly shifting. My old 276 never did that at all.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not offer much of any additional mapping for Asia. We only offer BlueChart g3 mapping for Japan and BirdsEye Satellite Imagery.
Thank you for your question. Below is a link to a comparison chart between the 700, 700i, and 750i. As far as using the GPS, yes the GPS will function all over the world. However, you may have to purchase maps for a specific region separately. Also if you get a device with inReach technology, some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit the use of satellite communications devices. It is the responsibility of the user to know and follow all applicable laws in the jurisdictions where the device is intended to be used. I hope this helps. I don't like Garmin mapping. It's rubbish if you want an accurate topological view of the landscape. Also is it fully compatible with Bssecamp? Previous Zumo devices weren't. You'd spend a lot of time in Bssecamp choosing suitable symbols for POIs, but after transferring your route to the Zumo all the POI symbols would be changed to one generic symbol making it impossible to distinguish them. Waste of time. I'd much rather use my Smartphone, much better screen and faster to use plus all the other things it can do.
This unit should have been released 5 years ago . The technology was well available 10 years ago . Not sure what the hold up was with incorporating gps mapping as well as communication via text in one unit. Hard to tell by this video... but I sure hope the resolution of the screen is on par with current smart phones . The Montana units that proceeded these ones had a grainy display like a digital camera had 20+ years ago . I’m not sure why all the most current and best technologies take so long to make their way to hand held gps units . This one looks like they may finally be catching up to what gps units should have already been .

Started with 12XL, then GPSmap76, GPSmap76sc, Montana 650, beta tested DeLorme PN series including PN60W with InReach messaging, and have the DeLorme InReach Explorer. Messaging and entering waypoint comments is extremely tedious on the Explorer or 66i series! I use the Montana for tracks & waypoints along with PN60W, (for backup track recording in more detail) for mapping bicycle trails/routes for my website and openstreetmap updates. I carry the Explorer whenever I may venture range out of cell phone range. (My Montana developed a hole over power button, no longer waterproof, and has a random shutdown issue when selecting waypoint symbol for change that no update has ever corrected.) The Montana 650 has survived a number of falls from mtb mount onto concrete and survived. Am finally considering an update, but its pricey!
What's the screen made out of? Seems like plastic opposed to gorilla glass... poor materials do not give me the confidence that a company is confident in their product. Hardware seems amazing, but I don't think I'm alone with people desiring quality materials.

Thank you for your questions. The Montana 700 series has an operating temperature range from -20 degrees to 60 degrees C (from -4 degrees to 140 degrees F). Also, it is compatible with BlueChart and LakeVu mapping.
@@GarminRetailTraining Is it compatible with Quickdraw? I'd like a handheld device for ice fishing.
@@lag_profil Thank you for your question. The Montana 700 series does not have Quickdraw contour capabilities.

So it will work with blue chart? Like G3? Someone from your tech support said he had no idea an that you guys haven’t tested which works an doesn’t an to just wing it an try it. I thought that was horrible tech support advice.
@Garminretailtraining
yea.. so what is the story with maps downloads and subscriptions? ta..
All of the selling points but not much for the operation of the device. I've had my 700 for a couple years and I really like it for hunting and exploring in my part of New Mexico, USA.
Is it waterproof?
What is "creating a wave point"?

But how is the touchscreen working when its raining?
The touch screen in the 600 series Montana's had no trouble in the rain, why would the new one?
Lee White. Depends on what kind touch screen technology they use. Curious! But the screen on the montana sometimes lived it own life in snowy condition while driving snowmobile.
It works great!
And reports say that they dont like cold weather.
@@GarminRetailTraining Thanks for your reply:)
Can the 750I send photos to the 700I?
So question to you girls and guys at Garmin: do those units support the import of shaping points for route navigation, like the 276cx does? I guess it does not, because the old Montans don't do this either.
Thank you for your question. The Montana 700 series will support the importing of the same points as the GPSMAP 276Cx. As far as shaping points specifically, if you are referring to the points that BaseCamp makes in routes, then yes. But if you are trying to import a point with a .shp file extension from other programs, then it will not. Our Product Support Team would be happy to assist you further and can be reached at support.garmin.com or 800-800-1020. I hope this helps.
Nice video! Is there a successor to the 700 in sight by now?
Will this unit provide turn by turn directions via bluetooth?
Thank you for your question. Yes, navigation prompts are available in the Montana 700 series when paired with a compatible headset.
Is there ASIAN map for the 700 series ??
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not offer much of any additional mapping for Asia. We only offer BlueChart g3 mapping for Japan and BirdsEye Satellite Imagery.
What is the difference between 700/ 750
If buy this in Australia can I use the gps in Chile?
Thank you for your question. Below is a link to a comparison chart between the 700, 700i, and 750i. As far as using the GPS, yes the GPS will function all over the world. However, you may have to purchase maps for a specific region separately. Also if you get a device with inReach technology, some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit the use of satellite communications devices. It is the responsibility of the user to know and follow all applicable laws in the jurisdictions where the device is intended to be used. I hope this helps.

@@GarminRetailTraining Comparison says 700i has turn by turn with optional maps, heard elsewhere that it includes City Navigator w/lifetime updates....
Total bummer about issues with onX maps...
The Montana 700i will do turn-by-turn directions with the preloaded TopoActive mapping for hiking and cycling. The EU and AU versions also come preloaded with City Navigator respective to those regions. If you want the turn-by-turn directions like you would find in one of our Drive series units for US coverage, you would purchase the City Navigator North America NT maps.
Micro-USB.....seriously? This is a setback and very disappointing.....progress runs away from you, dear Garmin!
doesnt matter so much no, microUSB is still standart format for almost all powerbanks so you can use one cable for charge powerbank and navigation
If my friend and I both have these gps can we track each other? Say if we were in the wilderness and get separated and need to find each other.
Thank you for your question. The Montana 700 series does not have position reporting like we have on the Rhino series. However, with the inReach technology in the 700i and 750i, a message would include Lat/Long and shows on the map. To use this feature, it would require an active inReach subscription. I hope this helps.

Does it have any bicycle specific tracking modes/functions/abilities? Can it sync to HR straps, Cadence, Speed or Fenix watches via BT or Ant+? Wonder if this computer would bridge the gap or serve as both general outdoor navigator and bicycle computer.

Now, just add the Rino capabilities, and I will be totally sold.
this is a great motivational sales pitch....but...I have had a Montana 700 since Dec 20. To date I have not been able to use the device because of the following issues:
- Device wont follow a simple route WP1 => WP2 =>WP3 etc
- Compass freezes when moving
- Device doesn't change from WP1 to WP2 when you get to WP1.
- Compass screen doesn't calculate time to next WP and estimated time to the end point
I have tried multiple things routeing setup, compass setup, compass calibration etc...even tried Ordinance Survey Garmin UK 25k maps
Nothing seems to work. Have been trying everything that Garmin Support say, but nothing is working.
Have you experienced anything like this or any of your followers?
Really not impressed with this "high end" very expensive device....
Would love to hear back from you or anyone with similar issues.
Maybe it is me...maybe I am being stupid....but I do have an old GPS Map 62s which works fine with routing and also a Fenix 6 x which also works...
Any help appreciated.

Hi Will the Garmin Varia rtl515 work with this unit?
Thank you for your question. The Montana 700 series is not compatible with the Varia RTL515.
I guess it is finally time to upgrade from my eTrex. After 23 years of use, a cracked screen, and rubber buttons missing, the little bastard is still going.

Just don't get the Rugged Mount unless you want miles of complicated cabling that you CANNOT shorten.
I shortened mine quite easily. If you expose the wires you will find the only two you need-a positive and negative. They can be attached nearly anywhere you choose.
wow, forget about the Micro USB, when spending $800, the device doesn't have a Solar powered Glass inbuilt for recharge option, calling itself an adventure companion. they have inbuilt Solar option with a Watch that never goes into sunlight but not on this "Adventure device". let know when it comes out with that option i be happy to spend $1000
That would of been nice, it’s not a watch though and I’d imagine with a device like this a built in solar panel wouldn’t of been practical, good thing I have solar chargers that will keep mine powered and an attitude that doesn’t stink.

this is not a training video it's a sales pitch.
Started with 12XL, then GPSmap76, GPSmap76sc, Montana 650, beta tested DeLorme PN series including PN60W with InReach messaging,
and have the DeLorme InReach Explorer.
Make the entire Map the birds eye view an it would be worth it, the driving profile map is garbage.
Was hoping my photos would upload to my mapshare so fam can see what I see in Yellowstone. Nope! Huge disappointment
What's the screen made out of? Seems like plastic opposed to gorilla glass... poor materials do not give me the confidence that a company is confident in their product. Hardware seems amazing, but I don't think I'm alone with people desiring quality materials.
