    Desk proto has a multi axis version and can do a helix cut. I am just beginning to explore this program for my hobbyist 4th axis machine.

    No more Fusion 360....only Fusion 🤗

    I use Desk Proto too. My setup is 5 axis index machining.

    As an alternative to the centering pin, which loses you the ability to use the through hole of your 4th axis, you could put 4x set screws around the perimeter of the mounting plate. These would let you dial in the alignment between the vise and the axis just like a 4-jaw chuck

    For the 4 sides simply use a circular pattern! Way less to program! Only one side and then duplicate it by four!

    we have 3 4 axis mills

    we use fusion360 and you really don't need the machining extension, you should see the crazy parts I designed and mill using the base license

    thanks for the many good movies about cnc. when you made the Cnc milling machine into maseon. did you use two types of servo motor. one type for z-y-x and one for spindle why ??

    • @diyfiberlaser
      @diyfiberlaser 4 месяца назад

      Same brand of servo, just larger size for spindle

    Thank you for sharing the video. I wanted to know if there is any brake required for this application. I have been looking at 4th axis options for machining aluminum on my small CNC and noticed that some solutions have various forms of braking mechanisms to keep the chuck/vise secure. Tom

      I didn't install a servo with brake and it seems to hold it just fine. I supposed you could if you wanted to...and wire the brake to a relay and control it with some custom gcode

      if your 4th is a worm drive type it won't need a brake

    i have a really nice southbend magnaturn 612 lathe, its not running right now, i bought about all the Masso components to retrofit it, but i do not know where to begin, it needs your special touch to get it running, any help would be greatly appreciated,

      Oh ya, I've seen those and almost bought one once...you begin with some disassembly to see what you're working with

    Do you have a link for the new 4th axis? I've been dragging my feet because i dont want a cheap one that can't cut metal very well but i also dont want to spend 5000.

    Did you happen to measure the backlash in the drive? It seems very rigid!

    You can buy tokens with Fusion and get the multi-axis package for 24 hours for 10 tokens (30 dollars). You can only buy 300 tokens minimum though. I've not found anything cheaper than Fusion, just pay for it monthly and you'll forget about the cost 😂
