i used the term "Tibetic" to refer to people that have directly descended from the Tibetans and speak a Tibetic languages since there is no pre-existing term for it unless you count "Bhotiya". i used Tibetic instead of Tibetan because several of these ethnic groups don't consider themselves to be Tibetan.

If we go by what actual Tibetans think Tibetan is, because we should preference their opinions on their own language/s, then it's "any language spoken by a Tibetan," so that includes Gyalrongic languages that didn't descend from Old Tibetan. That means "Tibetan" includes non-Tibetic languages. Tibetic is a term that avoids social and political hangups and only refers to languages descended from Old Tibetan. Might as well add that's an answer Tibetans will give when they're feeling inclusive. When they're feeling exclusive they'll tell a Gyalrongic speaker to "speak Tibetan" and probably call it ལོག་སྐད lol
