- We find something that fills us with disgust on the nc500 this time. Before that we show you a bit more of the beauty of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides.
We are Corrin and Paul and with our two dogs (Pippa and Dolly) we have travelled to 23 countries in Europe

This is the problem with so called wild camping ,free park ups people just don’t want to pay, we live in the surrey hills every place dumped toilet waste and rubbish to be honest getting fed up with it totally wrong,ens grump over !!!
It’s horrible and selfish isn’t it , a big clampdown is needed , spoils it so much for locals and respectful travellers ❤️

Waste disposal outside of the disposal facilities is completed unacceptable! Have the backbone to stand up and say SHAME! I SEE YOU! Camera is your best buddy on occasions like this. 👍

We had a bad experience on sky,. As you know the roads are very tight.
We was heading out of Portree I've been driving my motorhome how for over 3 years now and I know what I can and can't get thou.
But!! We met Hired out motorhome coiming down into Portree that was going at speed... I was on the kerb on my side of the road and he hit us so hard, it smashed our mirror with protective cover to bits, also hit the side of of motorhome..... He never stopped,.. To say I was mad is an understatement.
I think it's about time the hire companies give out proper training....
Oh no, that must’ve been horrendous , did you have a Dashcam , ? very little respect at all, hope the damage wasn’t too much and didn’t ruin your trip, they must’ve known they’d done it, training or a decent handover is a good idea , doubt it’ll change much unfortunately 😢

Hi Guys. Just catching up with your adventures. Sadly over the years we have found an increasing amount of dumped rubbish and waste where we park up at nights during our adventures. Nine times out of ten we have to do a rubbish clear up on arrival at a wild park up. Sadly I don't think it's the fact that the van renters don't know how to correctly dispose of any kind of waste, it's just that they don't care. Another poster commented that it may be to do with the free 'wild camping' park ups , and people just don't want to pay. Again, I don't think that has a lot to do with it, it's just some people's attitude. We stay in 'wild' park ups, on campsites, at pub stops, and have found people leaving rubbish, and not clearing up after their dogs in all of these locations. Some people will always be the same however you try and educate them, and sadly these days your likely to get a torrent of abuse if you give any advice. We're all just going to have to be voluntary campervan rangers, and give advice if your happy to do so, and as you say, video/photograph offences and offenders and give this evidence to the police and/ or local authorities. The bottom line is, if this behaviour continues, we will eventually lose some of these beautiful places to stay and relax in. Rant over, carry on the great videos, (we're going to Skye much later in the year) we'll catch up with some more tomorrow. Colin, Carol....and "Joy" 👩🦲👩🦳🐕🚐🏴 🙂👍.

We certainly enjoyed the Islands , and the abundance of park ups was amazing, the small part of the NC route we skirted was becoming saturated , so glad we avoided it .. I don’t think Scotland realised what a monster they would create, the idea was great to bring more tourists up to the highlands and spend some money, but we have seen sports cars, motorcycles all flying round in three days and motorhomes especially the rentals not having enough facilities available and also taking everything with them in case there aren’t any shops 😂 as you say it is getting better and ( proper ) motorhomers know how to behave, we were going up there before it was even thought of as a route now we tend to avoid. Despite this looks like you are having an amazing time . Enjoy

I don’t think for one minute that it’s regular motorhomers that leave a mess, I think we’re all educated in how to dispose of our waste but sadly we get blamed for other people, I’ve done the NC500 and I was amazed at how many cars were parked up in the middle of nowhere, maybe they had a toilet in the boot.
It’s a pity to see it isn’t it, such a shame, I really hope they have a massive clampdown and people do start reporting 👌🏴

We live in a small touristic town on the Arcachon Basin and unfortunately we have the same problem when the tourists arrive, our mayor has installed 2 self cleaning toilets on the beachfront and at the oyster port but strangely folks seem to want to do their business in the bushes along the coastal walk or empty their cassettes there ( 4kms away there's a designated place for that ). It's every nationality, and I bet a pound to a penny they wouldn't do it in there hometown . I'm not even go to get into dog dump, there's none until tourist season.

We suspect that too. Hire vans definitely outnumbered private ones from our experience this last few weeks

I'm not doing the NC500 but have covered some of it on the way to Orkney.
It's only May and there are SO many MoHos and campervans.
What it's going to be like in July and August?
I pulled into a layby on the A9 to take a phone call and someone had emptied their waste. 😠
That’s a question we keep asking ourselves, if this is off season what’s it going to be like at peak!!

We travelled through the outer Hebrides in 2017 but didn’t get to Lewis and Harris. They look so lovely. We came back via Skye and even then (late Sept 2017) we found it busy. Definitely need to get back up to Scotland though. Disappointing behaviour by some 🤬

When I said we avoid I meant the NC500 at this time of year, we are in Scotland now for three weeks , but there’s plenty of beautiful places away from the nc500 ., and always amazing and friendly people.
Exactly, we found so much that isn’t on the ‘loop’ as some locals called it.

Well said, unfortunately it is down South. I've seen it where I live in a New Forest carpark where you aren't even allowed to stay overnight. Totally disgusting, people that do it should be banned from owning campers/ motorhomes

Totally understand what you say about the NC500 being saturated. When we went up that way, we only used it as a rough guide

We haven't learnt as a human race yet young Redders's and there are still people who don't have the capacity to care about anyone else , and yes , it had to be mentioned . We did the 500 a couple of years ago and I spent an hour cleaning up a lay-by with a bin in it .

We always carry a spare cartridge on our roof alongside our spare tyre. There's no excuse to just dump. What u would say though is that "package" wasn't from a camper/motorhome toilet. The chemicals or eco chemical we use breaks everything down to liquid. It looked like that mess was from a hiker or vehicle without facilities, including the barbecue area. It's a shame motorhomers are getting blamed for this bad behaviour.

We found Skye to be filthy from wild campers leaving poo and toilet paper, bags of excrement. Awful! Put us off from ever returning

I am Scottish, have a caravan and although I would love to see the sites of the nc500, I wouldn’t go near it now. I love your videos but it makes me so angry that others are so disrespectful of our beautiful country and for many it is just a tick list they want to complete and are not really interested flora or fauna.

The scenery is just breathtaking and you could be mistaken for being in the Mediterranean! Really good to see the girls enjoying themselves too. Sad to see so much plastic but it's a sign of the times unfortunately! It's not surprising that locals do not want motorhomes when you see such inconsiderate behaviour. I see mothers with kids babies chucking dirty nappies in Tesco car parks etc. Isn't it time Scotland created motorhome Aires it's that simple.
Places to stay do exist, lots of them, it’s just the ones who can’t be bothered to search out the facilities which are available, pure laziness and disgusting behaviour 👍🏴
We’ve just come back from Norway. Same weather. Took thermals, woolly hats, gloves, fleeces etc; they didn’t see daylight. Came back tanned 😂. Shame about the 💩. Some filthy scummy folk out there 😤
We had 4 seasons in one day and a good spell of sunshine too 🙂👌🏴 I bet Norway was beautiful ? And probably no issues with waste 😢🏴❤️
I know that lady she swims and usually no body bothers her and has the beach to herself so you probably surprised her. Given that everyone knows everyone else it’s a little unfair to mention her because we know who it is from your description. What if someone came over those dunes now and your dogs are loose? Same thing. ☹️
Good morning, appreciate your comments , we did turn the cameras off and no close ups as the actions of the dogs off camera were unfortunately more aggressive , our dogs are always under control and super friendly. 🐩🐩🐾🐾❤️

Its just lazy people and you will find that if they have dog's they're the one's that don't pick up their dog's 💩 either, the penalties when caught need to be so severe that it will make people think twice before dumping anything. I get sick and tired of seeing natural beauty being spoilt possibly forever. Well called out 👍🫶
