Never forget where you come from and be proud of your good traditions and culture, whether you are from Ghana, Gambia, Nigeria, Kenya , Uganda, it does not make any difference just lift your voice in your local languages and express yourself in praise to our living God. The sound that comes out is so unique, authentic and beautiful which has no comparism .
hello mr. kumi, hey alex! these words are true and deep, even for someone from germany like me - as you see from my user name, i am a friesian and i´m proud of it - i come from the north coast of germany and my ancestors were hard, proud and stubborn people, who fought with and against the rough sea for hundreds of years, some of them lived on tiny islands with just two or three houses on them, not funny when the storms and the floods came... i myself was raised in a tiny village out in the moor, 300 hundred peope lived there and my father was the teacher - here i come to the point: the people there spoke low german, which is a special, rough and wonderful dialect, that is sadly slowly dying out - believe it or not: one of the great fighters for this language is a black man from senegal, who came to germany during the seventies, and who now is a well known and respected radio speaker who shows his love for this way of speaking... i inherited about douzend books from my father and my grandfather with low german lyrics and stories - they often have a rogue humour, but a fine gentleness and wisdom beneath the rough surface... during the 70s by chance i bought an african record* on a flea market - at first it sounded completely "alien" to me, but as i was curious and kept listening to it, i by and by began to like the music - then someone gave me a record with south african zulu jive and the liking grew into love! i became thirsty for more, but here in germany you couldn´t buy any african records - it changed with the 80s, paul simon´s "graceland" made south africa´s music famous in the western world - in 81 king sunny adé from nigeria had a live appearance in german tv - wow! it was a culture shock for many of us: so many musicians performing wildly on stage with an almost blind understanding among them - that started a wave and from then on you could get more african music also here - plus the artists came in person to perform live - i saw countless concerts and was never disapointed, great musicians, great singers and dancers, yessss :-) several times i also saw the "kalifi dance ensemble" from ghana, who played traditional instruments and performed a dance theatre in their first set, showing scenes of everyday life to show us how life is in africa - the second set was for dancing - i enjoyed them very much... i had to struggle my way to get to these more traditional sites from ghana, i had to pass through several layers of modern electroncal pop music - i must say, i like some of them, but they sing almost exclusively about "i love you, i want you, i need you - why did you cheat/leave me?" which i find a bit poor on the long run... sorry for being so wordy, but there is still a very important thing i must say here: i´m son and grandchild of very open minded and peaceful people, so for a long time i knew, that africa has a lot of big problems, apartheid and other things, i knew about slavery in the usa, i knew, germany had colonies in africa, but i didn´t know how disgusting our ancestors behaved in namibia - it wasn´t before some months ago, that i saw a film about the great killing of the herero and the nama and i cannot say how deeply ashamed i feel of "my" people - and it´s also a shame that they don´t talk about it here! since i know about it i talk a lot with my daughter about this topic - she is 16 and knows a lot of things already, and i see many decent youngsters of her age and i give great hope in them... i wanted to let you know all this and i sincerely hope, you get this message and understand how much i appreciate your words, although i know you didn´t mean to include someone like me... :-) "let´s live in love brothers, let´s live in love sisters, let´s live in unity, as it should always be" i sang these words fo sugar minott (famous jamaican reggae singer) with my friends fro the sofa connection... ruclips.net/video/U2nVy0VxE-I/видео.html "one love" - greetings from germany *i found that very record here on youtube and i give you a link to the first song that i liked - i still like it, to me this is among the purest and deepest music on this planet... ruclips.net/video/hvUME0n0fs8/видео.html
Yes. My brother Alex. I am in USA and the sound of this music speaks to my spirit. The music of Mother Africa rising in praise to Almighty God, makes feel like zHeaven is real. It is here! Yes, brothers and sisters ... sing! You are calling me Home!!
My favorite songs. Having me dancing in the supermarket in the car in the parking lot at my home. I take the words as a promise from God. I truly believe.
No matter what I face in life, I choose to remember the times God came through for me and I will continue to trust in Him because my life is in His hands... Turning around for my good!
No matter the matter, nothing in life is new, and somethings are never old, above all opportunity is always just in front of us; when we trust the Father Jehovah through the favor of Jesus our Lord and King! Again I say unto you, Manifestation of the Father's greatness is never far away no matter (what we face) the situation! Let pain be a memory not your life! Let your unfortunate situation, and any misfortune be your new opportunity to do a brand new to you thing! Such shall be your victory over any struggle whether now or ahead!
I’m from Kenya 🇰🇪 and Although I don’t understand some of your words in your music I must let you know that I love you and your music. I’m also blessed by how you and you hubby are doing this together
