My point is that MIDI sounds good only with actual proper devices like Roland SC-55 or SC-88, using other devices especially Yamaha FM synthesis sound chips MIDI sounds like s**t. Ihmo MIDI was cheapest and worst way to create music, better options were tracker modules used in Amiga (PC tracker modules had greater capabilities).
Fun fact, according to a video the dev did. This is literally music from Art Data's CEO's garage band. Said CEO also thought you could put new monsters and weapons in the game from shopped doom screenshots.
As misguided the guy was who commissioned the 3DO port, his lack of knowledge about DOOM REALLY benefited the port's soundtrack. Like, nowadays, it'd be considered near-sacrilege to take your own spin on At Doom's Gate, but THIS is great stuff.

So I can see why someone would say that. These days though, there are PC GZDoom mods that implement that type of lighting. Increasing the pace to similar speeds of the PC version makes this song amazing. Fast or slow the song is great. Even at 1.25 Speed it's still slightly slower than the PC version.
I think it's more that he prefers it this way. I actually do, too. As one person said on another video of the 3D0 version: This version makes you feel bad-ass. The original makes you feel like a psychopath.
In my itsy-witsy personal opinion, this version of "At Doom's gate" is the best one I have ever dared listen. Proof that a music doesn't need to be fast to kick ass.
Best soundrack, NOT the worst console. I have a 3DO. The only games that I still play time to time is DOOM, Wolfenstein 3D (best soundtrack & extra weapons) and my favorite is Twisted the Game Show.
Almost worse. It could have potential if they clocked the ARM CPU at something more than 12mhz, maybe 25 or even 20. It had some interesting titles with great enhanced audio, but suffering in speed. It's a pitty, what they were thinking. (Also have a 3DO now and while the 3d games in youtube emulated overclocked looked good, now I see how bad they are with too slow speed). I can only enjoy Need for Speed and maybe some Street Fighter so far. I think the worse console at the time was the Jaguar, even though it had some interesting hardware, maybe underutilized or hard to utilise.

With the PS1/Saturn, some think they were better and some they were worse, but with the 32x/3DO/SNES/Jaguar, you can tell what kind of limitations they had on the music. The 3DO obviously had more advanced sond technology than the SNES, wich has better sound than the 32X, which at least had music (unlike the Jaguar).
+RRW You can tell they put the most amount of effort at the time into the SNES version, it's the only one to retain aspects of the PC version such as level design and the actual boss monsters, Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind. With many of the others, it was a case of rushed development or, in the case of the Saturn version, very bad design choices but, with the SNES, they did everything they could with the hardware and it's a miracle they even got a workable product.

The 3D0 port of DOOM was supposed to contain new FMV cutscenes as well. Imagine if this port had turned out well, it may have ended up being better than the PC version.
I'll turn to Duke nukem 3D for that. When I'm playing Doom, I'm looking for something that's balanced between scary & badass. It's just the differance in how I was introduced to the series. Besides just tipping my toes into the original on occasion, I started off with Doom 3, tried out Final doom, played through 64 & then head on to really get into the originals when they were re-released on the ultimate BFG edition. I was just more used to a forboding Doom experiance.

I don't see it. I mean, the key is exactly the same as the 2016 version of At Doom's Gate, but it doesn't sound anything like the music from Doom 2016 otherwise.
