Reminds me so much of the CS8 at Broadmoor :) The run up and down is completely different - but the full speed running sounds exactly the same as the Broadmoor all clear. I can even hear a little bit of the "ringing in your ears" effect at the end. This effect is very audible on the CS8. Bring back many memories, thanks for sharing.
after seeing the video you made about the abandoned Wainuiomata College, I assume that you were at the carpark filming footage for that when the siren went off
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 I wish Australia's sirens still went off. My fire station has a siren that looks like an American Darley Model 2, but with a bigger middle but, and the whole thing is bigger. About 5 ft tall with no pole.
Great vid mate, interesting to see a legit Carter in NZ! Wonder if they were sent out from the UK once our Cold War network got decomissioned, or if they already had them in NZ back then for the same reason we did in the UK?
A lot of Fire Stations got them from new, as Volunteer Fire Stations have used sirens like this for decades. It is possible that some are ex. UK war sirens, and some may have even been war sirens in NZ. But a lot I dare say were likely new when installed at fire stations. A lot of Fire Stations are gradually getting their sirens replaced. Some of the new ones are an unknown make with the rotor sections in red. The most recent ones have all been PSL FireMaster's.
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Ahh interesting! Thanks for the info on that. I've also heard of a company called Carrel Electrade who's sirens seem to also be used in NZ for fire callout etc. Sad to hear the sirens are getting slowly getting replaced. New Zealand was my only hope for them seeing as the UK were so competent at their mass decomissioning in the early 90s. Also, I've just this second stumbled across a video of a NZ fire siren test which appears to use a Gents of Leicester! However according to the comments it looks like the whole station got destroyed a few years back from a Tsunami or Earthquake etc 😔
@@Bylone Yes, but from what I know, Carrel Electrade (formerly Carrel & Carrel) are more distributors rather than manufacturers of most of their products.....their single-rotor siren is a Firemaster. Not sure what their double rotor one is, but they probabaly did not make it. The now defunct Tactical Tooling (TacTool) who put big horns on the ends of rotors on their sirens actually just modified the Firemaster too. I think the only to find out the real manufacturer is to try and see if I can get close enough of one to get a zoomed in photo of the manufacturers label.
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Thanks. At first I thought you were recording on your cellpone, and if there was a phone that could zoom like that, I wanted one!
I can't exactly predict when it's going to happen..... As much as I'd love to have psychic powers to know the exact moment a siren is going to go off, I don't.
Carters are loud I have filmed a Castle Castings or Carter I don't know the type at Scotlands Secret Bunker and it was pretty loud but next time I'm standing as close as I can get and I am gonna start the vid so I have time to talk lol 🤣

They would sound different, being from two different manufacturers (Broadmoor being Klaxon/Secomak, and this one being Carter).
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Indeed, yet they sound somewhat similar. Possibly the pitch that each rotor produces sound at?
@@MichalM They all follow the same basic design, regardless of the manufacturer, which would explain the similar sounds.
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 Oh I see - that makes sense. Thanks for the info.
10/11 port Original 1939 carter siren
Nice!! Yes, very lucky to hear and see that sounding.
Yes, right place, right time. Just a shame that most of the the Sirens in Wellington only blast twice on calls, instead of Four like a lot of others.
I live in wainuiomata
Carter sirens sound awesome.
I wonder if you’ll be able to get a video of the Tawa Fire Brigade Siren going off
If you live in wainuiomata it’s so great because you hear it everyday
I don't live there, but I have been making a number of visits over the past 12 months to check up on projects ongoing int he area.
BRING BACK THE CARTER SIREN!!!!!!!
I had a holiday at Cromwell and I woke up to this
Sounds like a civil defense alert
after seeing the video you made about the abandoned Wainuiomata College, I assume that you were at the carpark filming footage for that when the siren went off
I hadn't even started filming! It went off as I got there
HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIREN FROM THE FIRE STATION UP CLOSE
Good you were able to magnify the station siren
Same alarm in Blenheim
Are they going to get a new siren Alex?
I don't know, sorry.
Its okay.
@@laurenloukinen5425 We are about to get a new station so hopefully
That will mean they're gonna have to get rid of the Last remaining original 1939 carter air raid siren
Oh wow!
I've always wanted one of my own, hard to get though.
I really wish that thing did the “Hi-Lo” sound that Broadmoor’s sirens did
Sadly, there are no known Klaxon/Sekomak CS8's in New Zealand, but I really wish there was.

@MrBlueRBLX I think its a Darley Model 3 or 5

At least we could have some close ups with the original 1939 carter siren
Air raid siren audio but real life
How loud was it?
Very.
Once I was under it because my dad is a fire fighter there
