I went to an Indians game when they played against Washington during Strasburg’s rookie season. The hype was so crazy that they were selling Strasburg jerseys and shirts inside the Indians team shop! I’ve never seen that before! And he wasn’t even pitching that day!
I watched his whole debut on ESPN, because I'm a Pirates fan and also because I'm a fan of good pitching. I didn't even care that my team was getting stomped because it was so fun to watch Strasburg pitch.

Thank you Tony Gwynn for pushing Strasburg and instilling a strong mental work ethic during his pivotal college years where Gwynn worked his butt off physically and mentally. His fastball went from low 90’s to upper 90’s and he learned how to handle adversity. And that helped lead to him to arguably the most dominant postseason ever by a pitcher and World Series MVP. Strasburg has put up a real solid career. There have been some injuries, but he's made at least 20 starts every season since the TJS. l think he may even be a little underrated these days.
Go Orioles he's now WS MVP and a 200+ million dollar man. So maybe he was underrated, but now he's rated maybe a little too highly, especially if he gets injured.
Honestly as a nats fan, we all gave him so much grief for not living up to our unrealistic expectations that in 2019 we mostly were hard on him. Everyone seemed to doubt him and we voiced our doubts regularly, and then in the postseason, but most importantly game 6, when we thought he might wuss out because he was sick, he basically told us all collectively to shove it. Which is kinda what we all wanted from him anyway. Man, that was a glorious ending. Worst start in baseball in history, to come back to be the only team in baseball history to win all 4 road games of any playoff series, let alone the WS.
Lol Jason Donald's only career highlight was being the batter that blew Armando Galarraga's Perfect Game, mostly unintentionally (even he knew he was out when looking at the footage).

Strasburg actually has very similar numbers to Scherzer if you compare them through both of their age 29 seasons, with Strasburg actually just a little bit better. Strasburg went 94-52 with 3.14 ERA, 1444 SO, 1.049 WHIP, and in 1222 IP. Also posted 26.3 WAR. Scherzer went 91-50 with 3.58 ERA, 1321 SO, 1.219 WHIP, in 1239 IP. Sherzer posted a 23.8 WAR. Not saying that Scherzer is a HOF lock currently but he's definitely making a case with one great season after another well into his mid 30's. Strasburg definitely has a shot if he can do the same, at least until his current contract is up at the end of 2023. He's already off to another fantastic start this year! I'm rooting for him.
I would say Max Scherzer's: "6× All-Star (2013-2018) 3× Cy Young Award (2013, 2016, 2017) 4× wins leader (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018) 3× NL strikeout leader (2016-2018) Pitched two no-hitters in 2015 (June 20 and October 3) Pitched two immaculate innings (May 14, 2017, and June 5, 2018) Tied MLB record for strikeouts (20) in a 9-inning game (May 11, 2016) Tied MLB record for 250 strikeouts in 5 straight seasons" ...would probably put anyone in the hall of fame, IMO. He already has 100 K's this year too!
@@Tyler-le6pl I agree that Scherzer is probably a Hall of Famer. I don't think he's the best candidate among active pitchers (Kershaw, Verlander), but definitely up there. If he has a few more AS years in him, he's got to be in. His resume isn't worse than Roy Halladay's. I actually did think of Scherzer when asking myself if Strasburg had a shot at the Hall of Fame. The other guy I thought of was Randy Johnson, but I don't think Strasburg has any chance of matching Johnson's relative durability.
Thank you :) I love Stras. He seems like a really great guy, and I don't understand when people say he's overrated. He's a phenomenal pitcher. One of the best. And so underrated. Much love from me. Haha
I remember the beginning of Stasburgs career, he was couldn't miss TV. I tried to watch every time he took the bump early on, luckily they nationally broadcasted most of his early starts
I remember going to one of his starts when he was in Syracuse. It was the most packed and fun baseball games I've ever been to even with all the major league games I've been to. They packed that stadium that only held 11,000 total, to almost 14,000 that night. Nobody had ever seen a stadium that packed before for a Triple-A game. Strasburg went scoreless that night (that's all I could remember as I was in elementary school when I went). One of the greatest baseball experiences of my life.

Pitched two immaculate innings (May 14, 2017, and June 5, 2018)
Tied MLB record for strikeouts (20) in a 9-inning game (May 11, 2016)
Tied MLB record for 250 strikeouts in 5 straight seasons"
...would probably put anyone in the hall of fame, IMO.
He already has 100 K's this year too!
@@ProjectDioVita Scherzer is as much as a lock as any player to be a Hall of Famer lol
I love re-listening to this for perspective on what a great year Stephen had. Also, the Nats.
Good choice of music foolish
Thanks.
I love your content. The editing with old school pc gaming music only makes it better.
maybe an episode on the 2019 twins possibly
That story needs to play itself out first, but they are an interesting team. I have enjoyed having Rosario and Kepler in fantasy.
Foolish Baseball they really boutta beat our HR record the year after we got it 😒
MyContentIsTrash honestly good for them. I would have loved to keep it, but it was going to be broken anyways, glad it’s from a scrappy team.
Man! I completely remember his first game!!! Great video!
Who else is watching him after that world series MVP?
Thank you :) I love Stras. He seems like a really great guy, and I don't understand when people say he's overrated. He's a phenomenal pitcher. One of the best. And so underrated.
Much love from me. Haha
Excellent pitcher, and thank you for the kind words!
THE LAD DID IT!
Subbed for Chris Paddack and Tony Gwynn Cameo. Also, subbed for such a great video.
How in love are you with Mike Trout's Baseball Reference page?
I make entire memes about it, so very
I remember the beginning of Stasburgs career, he was couldn't miss TV.
You called it! Also, followed on Twitch!! Hope to catch you some time and thank you for these wonderful videos.
So babying pitchers started with strasburg
ahhhh
He certainly took it to another level.
reminds me of mark prior, just he got to play in a time where pitchers, and especially ones w injury concerns got handled more carefully
I always press start at the video
That just means you're playing to win.
Damn I was at this game. School field trip to the capital from our middle school in MA. Wish I remember it better
