Thank you so much - I’m just learning and I’ve been making lots of mistakes!! But I’m learning from them so I suppose that’s a good thing 🤭 I’m going to try this block today 😊
You will be nicely surprised when things all start to come together. Believe me my quick unpick was my best friend when I was starting out and it still gets a work out now and then. We also have written instructions available which you may find helpful www.alandacraft.com/2016/03/17/quilt-block-disappearing-9-patch-block-tutorial/
Me as well. 9 patch baby blankets were so fun to make as a new quilter. I've sewn for over 76 years, mostly clothing, so quilting has only recently (the last 5 yrs) become a passion of mine. Jenny Doan & Donna Jordan from Oregon have been my tutors...such a FUN HOBBY! Thanks for creating this inspiring 9 patch for us.
It's so easy to make Nym. You may not know of our quilt blocks channel where we have a number of great looking but easy to make blocks. Here is a link in case you are interested ruclips.net/channel/UCArn4jO56BwJBFQV__lF35w
you will have so much fun making this quilt. I've used this pattern several times for baby/crib quilts. if you are just starting out as a new quilter, this is an easy tutorial to follow. she demonstrates it well. happy sewing!!
i just got my first sewing machine and i stupidly and ambitiously decided to do a patch work project and it was getting soooo confusing !! so thank you for this :3
How wonderful, it's exciting to begin a new hobby and sewing is awesome. Patchwork is fine to start with, just take your time and you will love how sewing two bits of fabric gives such a pleasing result 😊. We have a lot of beginner projects on the website as well as here on RUclips that you will find easy to make. We try to make things simple and uncomplicated as possible. We have a tutorial for a baby quilt that uses one charm pack but it also has two borders added to it to make it larger. For a toddler quilt you might need 2 charm packs although that's just a guesstimate.
Thank you 😊. The reason we don't generally backstich when making blocks is that the seams get caught up in other seams, so that locks them in place and they won't unravel. I only tend to backstitch when sewing on the borders. Hope this helps.
I used 5" squares from a left over charm pack. So you can use a charm pack or cut your own 5 " squares. Here is a link to cutting charm squares just in case www.alandacraft.com/2018/11/06/cut-charm-squares/
No it doesn't. What happens is the seams will be sewn into other seams, when we form a quilt, and that stops the seams unravelling. there won't be any open seams to unravel. I hope that makes sense.
We used 5" squares for this block, Alicia. The unfinished block measures 13 1/2" x 13 1/2". You can use charm pack squares or you can cut your own 5" squares from your fabric stash.
That is so lovely to hear Alicia. Thank you. 😊. We also have step by step written instructions, with photos, for most of our videos on the website. www.alandacraft.com

How many charm packs makes a nice size quilt for a toddler?
We have a tutorial for a baby quilt that uses one charm pack but it also has two borders added to it to make it larger. For a toddler quilt you might need 2 charm packs although that's just a guesstimate.
If I want to do a combo of the 9 square and the 4 square what size would I cut for each to make them the same size finished square?
Beautiful and simple. Do we need to backstitch when sewing..?
Thank you 😊. The reason we don't generally backstich when making blocks is that the seams get caught up in other seams, so that locks them in place and they won't unravel. I only tend to backstitch when sewing on the borders. Hope this helps.
СПАСИБО!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ТАК ПРОСТО, ОКАЗЫВАЕТСЯ.... КОГДА ПОКАЗЫВАЕТ Профи.

Very new to this, why wouldn't it unravel? Since you cut it with the pizza cutter tool, wouldn't that end come undone later? Thanks
No it doesn't. What happens is the seams will be sewn into other seams, when we form a quilt, and that stops the seams unravelling. there won't be any open seams to unravel. I hope that makes sense.

What size squares would u use? I wanna try this.

@@alandacraft would 6 1/2 squares work? I already have alot of those ✂️ cut
Alanda you are the reason I learned to quilt. I can watch n stop n rewind your videos, they are so helpful n taught me everything I know so far.
I certainly can’t see why not, Alicia. You are simply sewing the squares together and slicing them through the centre.
