This is amazing; I am one of those considering investing and returning to my motherland. I was born in Santa Ana and left days after to Nicaragua and lived there till 1986; moved to the states due to Nicaraguas politics and have lived in CA since I was 8. Between the USAs decline and California resembling Nicaragua. I’m looking for ways to leave. I just got my DUI for the first time and getting my ES passport shortly. I also plan to give my kids dual citizenship. Exciting

Happy that you are back home. Millions of Salvadorians made that dangerous trip north. I arrived 12 of April, 1970. And made it, got educated At university level. I went through many hardships while at the University of Utah. I found many good people and some bad ones. The ignorant people they tell you, go back to Mexico you don't belong here. All latinos for those people are Mexicans. After 45 years at my job now I am back in El Salvador. Always grateful to USA for the great opportunities. Good luck

You son reminds me of me. I’m Salvadoran-American as well, I also sort of fell into that conveyor belt mentality that was getting that degree from that prestigious school, getting my ideal job, and then propelling myself into success.
The pandemic had me unemployed so I took the liberty to work abroad and it completely opened my eyes to culture, community and a completely different sense of what is truly important.
American culture is “living to work” so people here are more likely to put an emphasis on the degree, on the job, on the status in order to convey the message they’re successful when they might actually be miserable.

I went to El Salvador 🇸🇻 for the first time in 40 years. I was there 3 times in 2019. I grew up in Southern California since I came at the age of 4. I fell in love 🥰 with my country and it’s people. Due to COVID I haven’t been back. Hopefully next year, I’ll go back. Anyhow, I would move. Don’t get me wrong I love Cali too but I would retire in El Salvador in a heartbeat 💓
