Thank you. I’m in a hotel in Japan trying to disassemble my touring bike and that damn crank was immovable, and given my situation I don’t have a nice metal wrench. BUT, with my Allen wrench and a short piece of PVC pipe, and your suggestion, I FINALLY got it off.
I don’t struggle with that bolt. In fact I got mine out when I used a literal mtb bar as an extension for my Allen key. However my cranks don’t have that self extraction feature. I have Truvativ descendant cranks. I do have this self extraction feature on my second bikes cranks and now I wonder if I can put it on my main bikes crankes in order to remove them. Would that work? Or do you know a better way?
@@Laurinmtb if your cranks are missing the round threaded self extraction cap then yes you can as long as they are sram or truvativ, you should also be able to pick one up from your local bike shop for a couple of bucks
You can use this very similar technique if you don't have the wheels off... and don't feel like removing them: ruclips.net/video/qwgccXdF-GM/видео.html
Works a treat 😁. I got featured on GMBN once a few years ago by Doddy at the Megavalanche about the stay protection. I'm terrible for heal rub so this method comes in handy, easy to do 😁
Your excellent technique did the trick for me as well. Putting the pedal flat onto the floor for bracing is genius. Thanks so much!
@jimkodet7908 thank you, I'm glad it worked for you 😊
oh man, been strugling with the crank and was about to buy a breaker bar. Saw the video and cannot be more grateful :)
I'm glad it helped, those cranks can be a nightmare sometimes.
Been struggling for years and this simple trick did it for me too. Cheers to ya brotha!!!🎉
No problem my friend, glad to be of help 😉👍

Great stuff, glad to be of help, they can be a total pain sometimes.
Brilliant! I spent ages trying other means but this worked straight away!
Glad to be of help 😊
Brilliant, thanks although I wish you had posted it last week when I removed my cranks 😆
Sorry Dave 😭🤣
So helpful! Worked perfectly! Thank you!

Thank you!!!
@@joseivannunez2716 no problem 😊
Genius. Thank you.
Thanks Mike
Mine stuck trying to remove it get bolt of then the crank doesn't budge any fixes?
The bolt shouldn't be off, it should stay inside the crank arm, did you remove the end cap by any chance?
@@PedalhoundsTV i removed the end cap i figured it out sorted the crank out in the end
@@Markozzy nice one
Got the bolt out. But crank won't come off.. Any tips? Allready stripped the thread in the crankarm.. Bloody sram gxp
The bolt shouldn't come out, is the extraction cap still in place?
@@PedalhoundsTV Thanks for the quick reply! Cap popped off instead off crankarm. Result, thread of the crankarm is damaged.
@@timleirsleirs5846 crap, that's not good, that's the important bit.
You might have to get a puller to get the crank off.

You could try, put the pedal towards the back of the bike and rest it on a block or box or something, can't see why it wouldn't work 😊
@Pedalhounds it works on a wood block.. video link in comment above
Chainstay protection ghetto-style 🤪
