Well done on your mods! A few questions.
I've just bought my own Neo Geo Pocket colour and trying to decide which screen mod to order from Aliexpress. I've also seen an AliExpress screen mod video from RetroGamingArts which also looks appealing as it retains the original screen size and has an on screen display for screen settings.
    Anyway my questions:
    1) Does the aliexpress mod kit you've ordered retain the same size of the original display, or is it smaller like certain other kits?
    2) what is the quality of the replacement shell feel like compared to the original? Is it similar quality? Does the SNK logo moulding show up nicely below the screen?
    3) In your video annotation, you said the shortened solder point for power didn't work correctly and you recommended soldered to the pad near the positive battery terminal.
What actually happened/what went wrong in your device with your device when you wired to the shortened point near the top of the PCB?
    Thanks in advance!

      Hi, thanks for watching.
Your first question about screen size. Yes it is same size as original.
Your second question The replacement shell plastic quality is very good, very close to the oem shell quality.
Your third question, the shortened solder point did not allow the screen to go to its full brightness.
Hope I answered all your questions.

@@angryowltech finished modding my console with the same IPS screen as the one you've showcased here. Thanks for this guide and answering my questions. Loving this mod so far.
All in all, pretty impressed for the most part, with only mild nitpicks.
      - Easy install with decent instructions (especially with videos like yours to help supplement),
      - no need for casemodding or damaging the original shell. I can keep the original hydrodipped graphic on the shell.
      - the screen can be tested before final assembly.
      - multiple screen scanline and pixel options in addition ti the brightness.
      - the plastic shim and the padding tape helps guarantee a consistent and centred install.
      - I used solder on the battery's positive terminal's test pad for better and consistent continuity. It was super easy to do.
      - touch button works with much better consistency than expected, and is really out of the way to minimise accidental presses.
      - the mod seems + my GameDrive flashcart seems to play well with rechargeable batteries so far (the eneloop batteries I use are listed as running a lower voltage of 1.2v per battery, rather than non rechargeables which are typically marketted as 1.5v)
The issues I had were mainly on the aftermarket screen lens; and also my attempts in preventing and keeping dust for entering the gap between the screen and the glass lens. Part technique based, but also partly down to the fact the aftermarket screen assembly is narrower than the original and doesn't create a full seal on the sides anymore (dust can still sneak in through the gaps).
      - quality control on the screen lens seems a bit off, my aftermarket glass screen lens had a few scratches on arrival. Initially thought it was dust so went through a few cycles of removing and reapplying the screen lens multiple times before realising it was actually a scratch all along (and having to keep isolating dust each time the lens was removed). The new lens was still miles better than my scratched up original, but would have been nicer if it came to me unscathed.
