The screen is always going to be legible in direct sunlight because it has translective LCD, it doesn't even have to turn on the backlight in daytime. The only 2 problem I've had with this device is that 1. The backlight won't come on if you're riding in really dark rainy condition, as it seems to automatically turns on in relation to sunset and sunrise (it probably pulls the data from your phone) 2. They sometimes pushed an update that borked the gps or the compass on it, sending me to god knows where. (happened twice, which is why I also installed quad lock on my bike, but seldom use it in lieu of the beeline)

yeah I agree - great little device but does have some drawbacks
