A Switch remake of the DS version would have been the best. The DS version added a lot and made the game feel new. We just needed a better console to play on.
I at least would have loved a new mini-game compilation. This is the first Mario compilation in awhile where we didn't get a mini-game section or bonus Mario Bros. game. Nintendo, content update us now.
@Diskun you do know it's not really true HD and even if your playing it on a system with joysticks its sill using D-pad controls oh yeah its on the wiiu for a reason
@@lol-ih1tl Someone clearly never used the touch screen for analogue controls... It showed that the game could be controlled by analogue controls. it wouldn't take much to fix that. Heck they used to have a thing called a thumb stylus during that time for that exact reason.

You approach each level differently and have character-specific stars. Super Mario Galaxy is very easy and no one complains about that. Besides, Mario 64 DS isn't actually easier, it's just different. If Nintendo remade that version for consoles it would play more like a proper 3D Mario.

Either way, the DS version had a lot of really cool extra content, and while I don't like it's redone textures or its controls, I think it should be ported and tweaked for analog control. Would also be good if the color palette was more like the original game but we can leave that to the mod community if it ever happens.

I think SM64 is a games that requires a full remaster when being upgraded. Mario's limited model works because of the wide and sparse methods used to create his world at a relatively smooth frame-rate. The game's look and feel are dependent on the N64's ace in the hole. (Large) (Polygons) On the DS he looks... out of place honestly.
