It's funny how something old can be refreshing. I mostly listen to modern metal, so a tune like this is like having an after-dinner mint. Cleanses the palate.
Remember, many songs on this album were an unsuccessful attempt by Clapton to woo Pattie (Boyd) Harrison away from George, ("another man's woman"), by stating his unrequited love for her. Later she left Harrison and temporarily married Clapton. Amazingly the friendship between Harrison and Clapton survived.
Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon and Skydog Allman: doesn’t get much better. Many of the “Dominoes were instrumental in the creation of terrific music of the day: ‘All Things must Pass Away’ all the Delaney and Bonnie, Joe Cocker. Check out’key to the Highway’
Sounds tired to me and it's quite infectious, making me sleepy and a real little yawnhead. If this came on a radio station I was listening to (yes, I still listen to radio stations, not curated music lists from streaming services) and this came on, I'm not sure whether my reaction would be to turn to another station or switch it off. I'd definitely not willingly listen to it from start to finish.
I think you got the lyrics wrong. To me it plays like he's saying he'll keep loving her, even when she's another man's woman, but he just can't stop loving her. Check it out again, can you see that? Great song btw, from an awesome album!
@@jaybird4093 no you are not alone as several here have demonstrated! The come back is always 'well don't listen to it then' which is sound advice except when (going back a few years admittedly) you couldn't turn on the radio or go to pub without this sort of syrup oozing out of the speaker. I only listened this time (reluctantly) as I feel the need to challenge my formative judgements and prejudices - I switched off pretty quickly though.
I always found this song to be haunting for some reason.

Yes please listen to this entire seminal classic rock album.
I think it’s the best thing Clapton ever did.
It’s the most passionate Clapton on record; And the band is wonderful.

I wanted to say just that.

I had always seen this album cover and had curiosity to ser how it was like. Now I know.
Great great album, hope you react (or listen to yourself) to the live album of the band

I've never been a fan of Eric Clapton and blues rock in general, so Derek and the Dominos couldn't possibly appeal to me!
The guy's a bore of the first order!
@@Owlstretchingtime78 👍I never understood the hype about him!
@@a.k.1740I thought I was the only person who felt that way. It’s nice to know I’m not alone.
@@jaybird4093 Perhaps many more of us feel that way ! Who knows....😉

@@jfergs.3302 I've said my piece. 🥱
I simply can't be doing with the boring old fart they call Slow hand. His music is more like slow death to me, so no thanks!
Never rated him.
Never liked him.
After Cream, he became a boring blues purist.
I am actually a fan of EC, but not so much this track.
@@jfergs.3302 Fair enough, but he's never rocked my boat. I'm a Jimi man myself!
