I always loved this little ditty its a shame it gets over shadowed by the ray parker song as this was a perfect musical representation of how the gang blunder and fluke their way through their business and saving the city.
If we're wrong, nothing happens, we'll go to jail peacefully, quietly, we'll enjoy it. But if we're right, you, Lenny, will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters!
I’m absolutely living for these comments...forever my all-time fave movie from my childhood. Seeing it at age ten in June of ‘84 with my best friend was absolutely life-changing. Rest in peace Harold Ramis (still recall the day we lost him like it was yesterday), and Michael Gross (creator of the iconic no-ghost logo).
Verdant and they lost the license to the game. Thats also why the game was taken off the steam store for pc. I got it before it was taken down though ;) its one of the best games i have ever played in my opinion.
Even though the game was removed for Steam. Gamestop still sells the game for PC and the Steam keys do work. Played on XBOX 360 years ago and just bought the PC version a few days ago on Gamestop and the Steam keys still work.
Bernstein is just great. That section at the end where the strings kick in is effortlessly classy. Bravo. Always loved this movie back in the day and the soundtrack hasn't dated.
I adore this tune, happy times in the 80's, my father taking my sister and myself to see this in Glasgow 1983 in his black pinstripe suit and red pencil tie, the tie I still have now. :)
YourCaesarsaladboi ooof there is a theory going around that the main kids in the Ghostbusters 3 are Egon’s grandchildren/children since they say the main kids have a tie in to one of the original Ghostbusters
2ndcousin100 at least they used it in the Ghostbusters videogame, and if we’re lucky we might get it in Ghostbusters 3 (the one coming out in 2020 which is a sequel to the first original two)
Think of the Mandala as a city bus line. At the bus station, ghosts, or waiting passengers, are drawn into the system at nodes and trapped. This concentrates their P.K. energy which is then eventually forced through the next node, or 'station,' and so on, until it all ends at a final terminus. At each successive bus station, the station manager absorbs some of the energy. This makes the station manager, or Node Guardian, stronger, so that it can keep the ghosts in line and destroy anyone who comes to the station to interfere with the flow. These nodes, or bus stations, gather the power used to feed a central point, thus creating a much bigger threat to the physical plane.

This is just how good Elmer Bernstein was. None of his work sounded the same. He matched the music to the film and did so perfectly. You would never be able to tell he did the soundtrack for the Ten Commandments and the Magnificent Seven, plus did Ghostbusters. John Williams is good, but all of his work is easily recognizable and sounds very similar.
I give you the CATCH ME IF YOU CAN opening vs "T-Rex Rescue" from JURASSIC PARK vs "Secrets of the Castle" from PRISONER OF AZKABAN vs "Anakin's Dark Deeds" from REVENGE OF THE SITH vs the theme from THE LOST WORLD vs the end credits from PRESUMED INNOCENCE vs.......
Bernstein is fantastic, of course! But there are certain stylistic similarities in some of his works too--look at how much he used the ondes martenot. His US theme from Spies Like Us is basically The Magnificent 7. I love the guys work but when I hear Elmer's music, it's pretty easy to spot his style...plus...don't be draggin' homie JW thru the mud like that brah.
I love Bernstein’s work but I remember not knowing who composed the soundtrack to Ghostbusters and thinking that some of it sounded eerily similar to An American Werewolf in London which I already knew was composed by him.
John Williams takes his instruments to their max potential that's why you recognize his signature but yes some music are the same. The most obvious example is the chase music scene from Star Wars Ep II which is a total rip off of the quidditch scene in Harry Potter.
Dr. Peter Venkman: As a friend, I have to tell ya you've finally gone around the bend on this ghost business. You guys have been running your ass off, meetin' and greetin' every schizo in the five boroughs who says he has a paranormal experience. What have you seen? Dr Ray Stantz: Of course you forget, Peter. I was present at an undersea, unexplained mass sponge migration. Dr. Peter Venkman: Ray, the sponges migrated about a foot-and-a-half.
I like the part when it goes “aboogadeegatteengading” on the piano and then it goes “DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEH DEHHH” i like that part too

"Get her!" That was your whole plan, huh, "get her." Very scientific.
when you have Venkman and Stantz going to the library with the dialogue and all that casual music and getting in the mood, the scenes are incredible
Wonderful, just wonderful! Such a great piece of music. Mr Bernstein did an outstanding job with this soundtrack. I adore his style.
So did Square Enix.
Anyone remember this playing in the main menu of the Ghostbusters videogame?

I would hum this tune when I looked at the concept art in the 2009 game.
