  • 1965 Buick Skylark I picked up a few years ago. It needed some mechanical and some cosmetic work. I go into what I look for in a car I buy with the intention of flipping and making a few dollars. When it was all done, it was a great little cruiser with a V8, Automatic, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes and aftermarket wheels. Welcome to the first flipping cars 101 feature.

      Great car, drove well and got a lot of looks. GM built some great looking cars in the mid 60s.

    What would be an average price on this car? What price should I pay rather. About the same shape

      In the current market I would think $5 to $8k range would be a fair price. This one just needed a paint job and some interior updates but was solid and ran well. If this was a chevelle in the same shape it would be double the value. Not as many Buick fans out there. To be honest this body is superior to a '65 Chevelle IMHO.

    Thanks for posting. My dad left me a 65 Skylark and I love it. I just wish I knew how to work on it or who to trust to do some minor things. I’m inspired to invest some time and $ into her after your video.

      They are really great cars, and like all old cars, they are quirky and will have issues. The best thing you can do for it is drive it, letting it sit will cause problems you wouldn't have it it was driven. Where are you located? There are some good and bad shops around, no doubt, its hard to find honest people these days. But there are good shops and honest people.

    Hi bro, do you still have the specification for the windshield gasket? I have a 65 skylark too but I am not finding it online. Thanks.

      These don’t have rubber seals. They use a thick black adhesive strip to hold them in. Comes on a roll with wax paper and you peel it off and stick it in place. Any automotive window shopping should sell it. I’ve also seen it applied with a caulking gun but it’s the same stuff.

    Are you going to replace the 300 4.9 or rebuild it?

      Thank you for the response. I have the same drivetrain in my 65’ special it’s a nice setup. Although the st300 can get cumbersome

      @@GD-cs4nh They are great cars, I really enjoyed it while I had it. The power disc brakes was a great addition to the car. I'm a big Chevelle fan, have had a bunch of them, but for the '65 year, the Buicks were so much better than the '65 Chevelle was. The body lines were more like the 66/67 Chevelles which are my favorite.

    What grit did you sand it down with

    • @SpeedandChromeTV
      @SpeedandChromeTV  4 года назад +1

      Most was 80 grit. The tough stuff was 36 grit to cut through the thick paint.

      @@Clappersonly69 if you need to go bare metal. 80 grit works well but if you have okay paint and just need to prep for primer then 180 works well. Just depends on what you start with. Feel free to ask questions.
