Onome is one of my favorite Nigerian football players. I will never forget the final (It was either with Cameroon or South Africa) where she remained on the pitch to see Nigeria to a historic victory despite fracturing her wrist during the game. It is so sad that this kind of commitment was unnoticed by the media. As a Nigerian man, I am embarrassed to admit that our women are showing more commitment to the nation and outperforming us in many endeavors. We must reward their dedication by attending to their needs and opening up more opportunities for them. We are the ultimate beneficiaries.
