There's an awesome hand-drawn 2D metroidvania that's likewise colorful and rather cartoon/comic-book like, where the lead dev said the protagonist was in part meant to be like a female Wario. Inspired by punk girls he saw at raves and concerts in the squat in Italy. "They were cool, they could kick your _ss and they were always drunk and upset and lovely."
It's called Cookie Cutter. Very solid game, can warmly recommend. Gets bizarre and out-there, so it's definitely not for everybody, but it doesn't constantly undermine itself and the story can be more serious. Was made with love and there's more planned.

I love the fact that Anton and Danton have completey opposite ways of solving problems. Danton tries fixing it with a hammer and nail and Anton just blows stuff up

10:00 I adore the fact that Anton tells you that the pit was, indeed, not good
don't know if anyone's said it yet, but the "dad's suit" skin is based off of crash and the "mom's dress" skin is based off of wario. i can only imagine this meant to imply that anton is an unholy lovechild of an evil plumber and a bandicoot.
Sometimes a family can be an anthro bandicoot, a greedy garlic man, and their angry red son.

Pizza Tower and AntonBlast being incredibly similar to each other, supporting each other during development, and both of the games to ending up absolutely fantastic... it's just been neat.
The sound design is so good I cant even tell if it is edited or not

The sound design is great, but it does feel like some audio is missing from cutscenes and some parts of the game. You notice how the Fake Elevator doesn’t have sound effects in The Big Bath but does have sound effects in Hell Manor? -Or how when Anton/Annie snack Satan in the face with the giant hammer it’s completely silent? Thought that was a little weird, maybe it’s a bug.
@@jk1ill0n62to be fair if you’re judging off this video he’s playing on like 4 separate versions at least throughout the video, the shop changes slightly at different parts and before he plays Hell Manor he says the game has officially released
I love that the dev for this and pizza tower helped boost each others games and drawing them making out which went viral obviously. Very cool they both decided to go the rising tides raise all boats route and be cool to each other given how both their games were warioland style homage games demoing around same time
I think the creators are both decent friends too, but idk
Literally makes me cackle that shipping them together was like used as a tactic to keep fans from hating on each other 💀
Fun fact: it is heavily implied in promotional material that Anton is Amy Rose's Father and it does make sense to some degree his weapon is a hammer and he's divorced

CGAnton is a reference to CGA graphics; the way some old computers would display colors. It even removes the more complex shading on Anton's sprites.

My favorite is "Mom's Dress", which gives you Wario's modern colors. I haven't gotten that one yet though but that's pretty cool

Fun Fact about this game: This game has some references based on AVGN, aka the Angry Video Game Nerd. Also Anton has a Donkey Kong color palette since you like DK a lot. Cool part even Annie has a Sonic color palette and she does the Sonic pose too

I didn't expect this game to have a Kingdom Heats reference, and I certainly didn't expect them to have FIVE. No colors, but there are several room names. Boiler City has Dream Drop Distance and Final Mix(er). And the Glasshouse has Simple and Clean, Face My Fears, and Sanctuary. The last three being the names of the main themes for KH 1, 3, and 2 in that order.
Fun fact: annie is playable in this game, you change to her through the ladies bathroom door.

For the fourth thing, you could have mentioned Cow and Chicken, as that show is something this game reminds me a lot of. Also, the way the cutscenes are animated reminds me of some old point and click adventure games.
The devil of thos game is like if the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken had a kid that spent all of his time at Dads. Only the magic mirror, being a leader of a kingdom, and wanting to be the best of one physical trait came from Mom.

So, when Satan said no one was allowed to be the reddest in the world, I thought he'd just try blowing Anton up, not... not the world itself. I guess it makes sense, if there's no world, no one can be the reddest in it.
What i want to make is the first Wariolike Metroidvania, besides there would be some non mandatory Challenges known as Delivery Dashes, where you must return a key to a chest before the time runs out.
I'll make it cool i guess.
Even have the plot be like that you play as a Patient in a Mysterious Future Phych ward with some secrets unknown to many...
