The bird equivalent of Adult Fear with a touch of paranoia fuel. You're out one night to fetch food for the chicks while your mate/wife tends to them, and when you get back home with dinner/supper they're all gone and no trace of what happened and where they went.
It's harsh when a nest is predated, but we gotta understand that it's nature doing what it does best. What annoys me about predation, is when it's a cat that does it! A non-native animal and it don't eat the life it has just taken, it merely leaves it to rot. One thing I myself would never do no matter the case is underestimate the skills of a fantastic predator such as a tawny owl. Probably one of the most fantastic and interesting birds of the UK. Gotta admit tho...... What a silly place for a wagtail to build its nest! Right on the doorstep of death.
eastbelfastno1 Sometimes the predators dosen't need to hunt. Sometimes smaller birds came to their nest to check out if its habitable, they get inside, then owl came by and enter, and finally the smaller bird gets killed and eaten. It's happen but not quite often.
Crows I can't stand and starlings and English sparrows. Crows are over abundant, the other two are not native to our lands. So I hammer all three. To many cats and I'll help their numbers out too.
Well said Wildlife-crazy, every shrew, amphibian and vole a cat kills, puts more pressure on the rest of the wildlife, so owls have no choice but to predate the nests of other birds. Cats are an appalling imposition on the environment by humans.
He got home to a empty one..He probably was thinking that his wife done left him and took the kids...ahhh but reality was a horror he could not imagine. ..sniff!!
One reason why birds have trouble finding good places to places their nest: WE remove the good places ie dead trees with crevices and holes because we want trees which grows fast and then can be felled, not trees with nooks/holes etc and which is old.
*The father will always be left in a state of confusion and worry for his children and wife, whom have been eaten by a predator....he will live the rest of his days wandering in the hopes to find them....only to never know the horrors of the truth*
Not when there's a invasion of rats and mice. These birds are are a part of nature and doing what they need to do. They can be useful and it's sad how so many things people hate are actually useful.
Owls are an important part of the ecosystems. They eat other animals such as mice, snakes, large birds, etcetera. Without them we’d have mice problems everywhere. Cats are not a good solution for mice, they predate highly on the small bird populations, which damages the environment and makes bugs a problem for everyone living in the area.
Poor male. His mate is dead and gone with the kids also dead.
austin1839 I know right? Such a sad ending. He’s like ‘where did my kids and wife go?’

not only dead they got eaten LOL
One minute you're giving the kids dinner, the next, you're someone's breakfast.
Poor male bird, he's like what happened? Where is everyone? What's going on!
He's better off than the rest of the family.
Back to mating..
Finding Nemo reference...
These human made nests are death traps for birds
There should have tiny hole for those bird so the owl cant get in, not like that opened. Yes sure death trap
Exactly my words.
not all birds are cavity nesters.
@@Hermit4321 wagtails can make nest in cavities like a box with a tiny hole to not allow owls to enter.
Waaaaa
That female didn't have a chance. I had to go back to see when the owl grabbed her. Right away.
The male like...hm....oh well on to another female.
That owl was probably giving a monologue to the mother and kids in a Tim Curry voice.
Were the wagtails feeding the chicks during the nigth??
At least mum and the kids are all together again inside the owl 😋
Owl probably has their own chicks to feed.
The platform the wagtails are nesting on looks like the exercise platform of a barn owl box?
sad ..... But the natural balance

Meh😒

+Wildlife-crazyNI. What makes you think cats don't eat the life they take? Every cat we've ever owned has eaten everything they catch.
Well said Wildlife-crazy, every shrew, amphibian and vole a cat kills, puts more pressure on the rest of the wildlife, so owls have no choice but to predate the nests of other birds.
Cats are an appalling imposition on the environment by humans.
We regularly have wagtails nesting at our cabin in the woods. They've found a small access hole just under the eves. No owl could get in there.
Did it eat the chicks or did it kill them and leave them?
Did the mother bird died first?
This is some movie vengeance scene in the coming.
He got home to a empty one..He probably was thinking that his wife done left him and took the kids...ahhh but reality was a horror he could not imagine. ..sniff!!
I'm certain the nest smelled wrong.
D Yoc that’s just dumb
I know the owl has to eat. But I feel for daddio. Lose your babe and your brats.
It's the saddest among the video so far.

A good owl is a dead owl.

Birds are stupid XD
FrostLets Playz Probably smarter than you buddy
No, not all birds. People blame the owl for eating when it could have families to feed too. There are birds that are very smart. 😡
And thats why you put out dead mice full of nice owl poison. Pro tip
