The code was released to a handful of people a while ago and it trickled down from a few people and eventually posted online by multiple accounts so its unlikely any action can be taken against the leakers thankfully

Just for clarification: this is an older version of Minecraft Xbox One. The latest update added elytras, and the tutorial world on that version had a lot more stuff in it.
Still, this is pretty big.
Yeah as with this build alone the game can be modded to modern standards.
I remember the old console edition had multiplayer mini games, and when they added Elytras there was this Elytra obstacle course minigame, it was so much fun 😊

You can get a legacy console mod that has most of the skin packs from back in the day of 360 and PS3. You can extract the skins manually for use elsewhere.
Even legacy console, 'be anyone you want to be', and they still messed that up for the movie
Those skins were my first exposure to castle crashers!
I also remember how bullshit the atlis and p-body skins where in the battle mode.
I remember loving the old master chief skin back in the day. That and the free fallout ones.
2:03 assuming your using the same version I ended up compiling, it's cause they didn't implimented something to map the buttons, but rather mapped the keys to the literal functions those buttons trigger pretty much. You can read through some of it it's pretty interesting. I had to go through to change some of it cause I can't play with control as the sprint key, for one thing it would send a right click whenever I click while sprinting for one thing cause I'm on macOS, and also regardless, I've always used the f key to sprint even when I was on Windows cause it's just more comfortable imo.
I should note the original code leaked does not have mouse or keyboard support, some people took that and patched it in

Although the whole reason for the gamma slider is to cater to different TVs. If you used a CRT then having it turned up probably made it look bright and vibrant, but on an LCD it looked grey and washed out

The flying speed of legacy console was what triggered my nostalgia. Used to watch and play a lot of the old X360 version to build and stuff, and the super fast flying has always been what I miss ever since I switched to Java. The good old days...
Minecarts also moved twice as fast as any other version (16x blocks per second LCE vs 8x blocks per second Java / Bedrock)

One thing this port doesn't let you experience is the pure joy of seeing a new tutorial world added with every major title update, and then going into the game to see what new features were added (the tutorial worlds would usually focus on new features). I still remember the agonizing wait for things like horses and the wither. Good times.

@phoenixsc You could play this on one on your lives, bcs the world may not be vast, but there's many buildings to explore on the tutorial mode. I remember playing with my cousins on split screen on my xbox 360 and roleplaying on this world a lot back in the day. This brings back a lot of memories.
Also, with every new update there was some changes added to this tutorial mode connected to the updates ofc, and many new things to explore. I wonder if someone would be able to get the tutorial map of every console version out on the internet.

This is very nostalgic and also could someone identify which version of Minecraft Java edition would be equivalent to this ancient version? The boats were still the ancient extremely easy to break boats so that means it’s at least before 1.9.
The last update before console edition was abandoned was 1.13, and the PS4 edition in particular received some of 1.14's features such as crossbows and pillagers
I don't know yet which version would be equivalent to the leaked code though
I haven't touched the game itself yet (have to compile it) but it seems like 1.7-1.8 to me.
EDIT: The tutorial world is from TU12, which the wiki says is based on version 1.2.1
The game's version is mixed. On the 1.13 legacy update one of the menus says 1.12, notch apples are still craftable however, and shields weren't even added until 1.14 ps4 (sword blocking is also available on 1.13)
On the older versions such as the one in the video, it's less accurate because the game was still relatively new and they were adding stuff (Hunger system wasn't even added on the first xbox 360 release)

@BaguetteDonkey I have only played bedrock, I do have the access to play java but never downloaded it, I am a command blocks and addons creator ofsorts, and the only thing bedrock is good at is performance better than java, which is even more better in the console edition, soon we can just replace bedrock, heck I have used the commands and believe me, java commands are far more powerful and worthy, they are having several features from commands missing, leading to lack of creations. If this entirely playerbase dominated leaked minecraft console edition becomes compatible with almost every device, fast modding, far better performance than the two versions; people would automatically replace bedrock and even java editions because why would you even need them?

almost like microsoft ruined a perfectly fine game, something they totally havent done before and then upset the respective community by simply pretending it didnt happen and was always like this.
and better it shouldve been the version and java shouldve merged with legacy edition
yeah. There was really no reason to swtich, other than making it cross-platform and servers, but they could've worked that into it.
@AlKerry I think the funniest reason that bedrock was made was originally to overcome java limitations on single core single threaded CPU usage but i guess the java programming language developers updated java to have these things because now minecraft java can use multi-core and thread and it is INSANELY efficient. Straight up, i can have 30+ chunks loaded now and it doesn't even slow my system down. It's crazy how much performance boost i gained from that one simple thing.
@VadersFist501st Java was never the issue. Yes theoretically, native code can be faster. But neither Java edition nor bedrock are even close to hitting language limitations and could be optimized much further.
Bedrock was made to be able to have recurring revenue from the marketplace. No other reason.

Aghhhh this is so cool! It's not the tutorial world I know and love (that one had a purely stone castle that I remember started you off with the music disc "Chirp," had a painting hiding a door leading to a nether portal, had a swamp at the back and a lava room for another disc. I miss that world so much.), but it's still awesome
You can mod the old tutorial world in anyway (even without the source code or a pc)
Now that's an interesting development. I'm curious to see where it may lead us.
If it runs on C and is not as broken as current Bedrock, we might get a pretty decent version to build upon that will possibly run better than other versions. All it needs is to be moldable (which I assume it is with the source code available).
Oh, with the source code available it's probably one of the easiest versions to mod now.
It is in C++, but current Bedrock stems from PE, not legacy console edition.
