Thank you for writing my shopping list for me. I had just literally sat down with pen and paper to write it. Decided to watch something while I wrote it and there you were. (It's a sign !).
When I got out of a very abusive marriage, and I just couldn’t function and think clearly I have a few other issues still from what happened but one of the tests that came back when they had to actually do a real real test was I had no salt in my system and in America that’s just really unusual. Once I added salt, I was able to function better and my PTSD and anxiety weren’t as bad just because that was taking out one thing that was causing me so much problems and thinking.
I keep a bowl of calamata cocktail tomatoes on the counter (don’t refrigerate tomatoes for best flavor). Since I see them I use them a lot more. Sometimes when I just “have to” put something in my mouth.
SALT! So true. I learned the hard way when I stopped using it and also was drinking tons of water. My blood work came back terrible and they actually told me to start using it immediately. I never knew that it was necessary for good health.
With the exception of yogart and nuts, was pretty much my pantry three years ago. Down to beef, eggs, salt and butter with occasional cheese these days. The desire for the other stuff is slowly going away and I don't miss them so far. I love simple, easy and feeling good.
Inspired by a lot of your informative videos on this channel Autumn, thank you! My new favourite snack / light lunch / dessert is 100g cottage cheese mixed with a small diced pink lady apple - so tasty, nutritious, filling and yummy!
Yes girl! I'm so excited for your chickens 🤩 our girls are like family, we feed them and they feed us. It's great teamwork! Good luck!! And so so true on ur herb and seasoning collection I completely agree! Great advice!!
Great list! It’s so hard to leave out chia seeds ❤️ but I get it they are a great addition to so many things…but aside from pudding I’m not sure what they can be a base for.
@@ceeyalata1648 I found out about basil seeds from dr Gundry. I am not sure if lectins are a big problem or not but i like the basil seeds as they are faster acting than chia so you dont need to wait as long for them to gel. I love making breakfast bowls with basil seeds and hemp and flax seeds as well as adding cinnamon and cocoa nibs and nuts etc. great base to add flavors to.
You have to try steelhead trout! It's similar to salmon, but better texture and doesn't taste fishy. I can't stand the fishy taste, and steelhead trout is one of the few kinds of fish I actually like. I also love cabbage but hate cutting it up, so I buy the bags of shredded cabbage/cole slaw. It's more expensive but then I actually eat it.
Cute little chicks! 🐥🐤 Last year we bought fertilized eggs from a farmer because one of our hens reaaalllly wanted to become a mother. Unfortunately, more than half of them became roosters 😅 But still, we kept two of them, and they get along pretty well once they've established which one is the "boss" 😉 They offer protection for the ladies against the predators and have a beautiful voice, haha!
The Mediterranean ancestry in me took note that you didn't mention olive oil (not EVOO bc you don't cook with that). I'm surprised! I'm intrigued! I need to go investigate "ghee", I've never heard of it! Yay for new stuff!
Autumn, I am confused. Why do they say that we shouldn't consume salt because ir causes water retention etc. Is it true???! Should we add salt to our diet?? Btw I love your videos! ❤ Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷 💙
What actually causes water retention is high amounts of sodium, which is present not only in salt but in lots of processed foods, soy sauce, stock cubes, seasonings, etc. In moderation, you should be consuming iodized salt because iodine is essential for normal thyroid and cell functioning.
Hi @Autumn Bates, I’m new to your channel & I’m glad to be here! Thank you for this very informative, helpful video! I’m excited about seeing eggs on here as we have lots of chickens & more eggs than we know what to do with! So we eat lots of eggs in many different ways! We also grow the majority of vegetables you mentioned! I’ll be binge watching your videos to learn more! 🙂 New subscriber here! ❤️
Look up "Greek Salmon" it is best with fresh salmon and then it is basically like a full greek salad on top of the salmon, it is delish and you don't feel like you are eating salmon, it is SOOOOOOOOOOO good!
WOW! So much information packed into such a short video! Thanks Autumn. Could you maybe do an informational about why the night shades are sometimes mentioned with suspicion?
It’s great as a pizza crust as well. I made up the recipe after looking at some you tube videos. Basically you chop the cabbage and sauté with onions and garlic then throw in whatever veggies you want such as asparagus and shredded carrots and sometimes i throw in chopped apples. Then add eggs that have been whisked with some sea salt and a little cream. And then add in whatever cheese you want. And kind of flatten it to make a pie. Can be eaten like that or use as a base for whatever else. Delicious nutritions easy and cheap . No flour
Great video Autumn! Since having really bad Covid 2 years ago, eggs taste metallic to me. They were always such a staple in my diet! What can I replace them with?
Love this list! I’m newer to your channel and am loving the info you share. My favorite lately is a salad with cottage cheese, tomatoes, and flavored balsamic vinegar. Cottage cheese is also amazing in place of noodles for spaghetti. While my hubs has noodles, I warm the cottage cheese up and mix it together. So yummy!
Balsamic vinegar and tomatoes combination is top! I sometimes use haloumi cheese... I don't think it's as healthy as cottage cheese but I really like its taste!
Hi Autumn Thank you for the great videos. I am confused about some of the weight loss food you mentioned in your video after visiting this week a family medicine and a and Hepatology specialist. They suggested avoiding cabbage, cruciferous vegetables, onion and garlic to reduce my bloating after I complained about my abs since I workout very hard. They also suggested focusing on low fodmap diet. I appreciate your feedback on the above. PS: I don't have SIBO.
Being that you DO NOT have SIBO, what is the purpose of a FODMAP diet? Cruciferous veggies for example is a great weight loss food but can be hard on digestion for some people (especially raw) which is why they would be a no-no vi fodmap.
Autumn, I’m loving your content and have watched a lot of your videos so far…but my only question is why are your onions stored in a drawer with seemingly bowls and a strainer? Hahaha thanks for the good content!
Cabbage… I have learned to make sour kraut with cabbage. Soooo easy to make, saves a lot of money- taste great and is a great source of probiotics before a meal!

Interesting that quite a few of these foods can be found in what is often called "Peel a Pound" soup, A.K.A. the cabbage soup of the infamous cabbage soup diet, which they say can make you lose 15 pounds in a week. Yeah, well, let's put that totally true claim (🙄) aside for a moment and acknowledge that it's actually a really delicious soup. You can find a lot of recipes for it on RUclips, which are all basically the same. But you can also modify to add or subtract things that you like.
