Which is why later in then anime, kaneki says "Let me see what I did." and hide shows his face. Kaneki had actually assumed that he killed hide by eating it. Also, he didnt turn himself in. He actually attempted to kill Kishou Arima, and instead had his brain destroyed, resulting in his memory loss, which the CCG then took advantage of to brainwash the amnesiac kaneki into believing he was Investigator Haise Sasaki.
I love the manga so much, way better than the anime in my opinion, amd Kaneki's memory loss was caused by Arima but also because he was held in the Cochlea and tortured causing extreme memory loss if I remember correctly.
Bruh touka reminds me of mikasa so much. Her and mikasa are badass, they both have a person in their life that they are protective over (eren and ken) and they barely ever show much affectionate emotions

Im late as hell and you probably wont read this but... yeah she was abusive asf, all kaneki personas just restrained that memory because they wanted to have a good image of their mother, but shironeki showed it to haise so he could take back the body, becoming the black reaper (this is what i understood.)
