Good to see Ho-oh get its dues. Always loved it way more than Lugia (who I swear has more fans because of the second movie while Ho-oh has barely had any major anime presence)
Lugia wasn't even originally going to be an actual pokémon, but rather a creature exclusive to the movie, which is why it's always been so disconnected from lore in the games.
I don't even hate the design honestly, it's a neat unique creature. But it's obvious that it was haphazardly slapdashed into the games, especially from a lore standpoint like how it's randomly the trio master of the Kanto birds despite NOTHING actually being demonstrated about it compared to how intrinsically tied Ho-oh is to the beast trio That and as mentioned, its blatant favoritism in the anime. Shows up quite a number of times, stars in multiple movies, while Ho-oh got one, ONE dedicated movie decades after the fact and it's barely involved in the plot as a whole while being overshadowed (pardon the pun) by the mythical flavor of the month in Marshadow
Lugia enjoyer here. (Before anything else, there's no hate at all in what I'm going to say, or at least that's my intention. Sorry in advance if someone here feels like there's some.) Honestly, valid povs, all of you. Why I prefer Lugia here is also made partially of the reasons you said. But the thing that I like about that pokemon is that it he's a part of the history of the series, it shows us how it was back then, even if for just the movies. Plus, if there wasn't Lugia, then the theme that Ho-oh got with it would be weaker since there wouldn't be Lugia's mix of Tsukuyomi and Susano-o (god of the moon or night and god of the sea) to Ho-oh's Amateratsu. (plus, Lugia's shiny pink shade might reference Susano-o's underwater palace from legends or smthin while Ho-oh's shiny, I haven't found a big inspiration for it). And, while I don't want to spew hate, I still kinda want to bring up some things said in this thread: About the in universe lore, I'd say that Ho-oh only got the resurrection part of the story sticking out more than Lugia's side. But imo that doesn't count as much anymore since the Johto episode of the Evolution web series where it was shown that Lugia took care of the fire. As for it's anime appearance, I would like to start with the movies: Lugia got 2, but for both it appeared mostly only at the end, 2000 having it kinda be in the background so the action wasn't on it and The Power of Us being the same deal with Zeraora as Ho-oh's movie was with Marshadow. As for anime appearances, I'd say it's still balanced, slightly in Lugia's favor, but not by much when we think about it: - Lugia parent and child Ho-oh's appearance in the first ever episode of the anime. - The start of Journeys the later episode Ho-oh got during Journeys where Ash and Goh climbed the tower in an attempt to see the Pokémon. The only time I can think of where Lugia got an appearance not matched by one of Ho-oh's was during the Hoopa movie, but it was overshadowed by other mons, including Arceus itself at the end.
The lyrics “You who climbed to the edge of the sky” is actually pretty cool because there was an event Pokewalker route called “Night Sky’s Edge”. I doubt it the lyrics were nodding to this, because the route was related to an event Jirachi, but still cool.
Absolutely fantastic, Ho-oh's theme was definitely done justice; claps to you Juno! My one and only complaint is that I found it a little hard to hear the Kimono Girls' Buddhist chanting at 2:14 because of the sound filter. If the filter wasn't there and they had perfect clarity this would be actually flawless. I'd still listen to that part for hours if I could, best part of the song.

I dunno what it is, but something about the juxtaposition of the kimono girls light, smooth performance at the start, Ho-oh's intro speech, and the way his voice just DROPS when the lyrics kick in with the beat makes this really wonderful build up into a satisfying clash. Its like we went from a prayer or a hymn to "oh we gettin REAL now" The ending lines really drive home the feel of the whole song as well. This is not a subduing of a titan or a desperate stand against a fundamental force of the universe - this is a battle of equals. You don't coerce Ho-oh to join your team - you convince him.
Pokémon HeartGold was the first Pokémon game I ever completed, back when I was a kid… …Now, I’m currently playing through it again!! And I feel like Ho-Oh himself has breathed new life into me!

Some parts remind me of Urbosa's theme or one hymn I know. Very cool. I like how you include dialogue at the end of every video for how the Legendary accepts being caught.
I'm imagining in an updated version of Gold with this playing, the 2nd verse plays at a 2nd phase, after you reduce Ho-oh to low/1 HP, with the Kimono girls singing as they raise their hands to the sky, giving Ho-oh a full HP Recovery, a Leftovers-esque passive heal every turn, and a permanent Sunny Day effect.
You who emerged from the falling skies, you who fell to the edge of the earth, now you must prove what your raged life was worth, what it means to be returned, to be revived!
I got the lyrics. Well, Ho-Oh’s part anyway. Ho-Oh: Child of Johto’s long, renowned history, have you the strength to rise once more from the flames of rebirth? Now face me, and show me the power you have gained from your journey! Verse 1: You who emerged from the fertile earth, You who climbed to the edge of the sky Now you must prove what your journey was worth, what it means to be reborn, to be alive Life burns away, but it rises again Such is the way of rejuvenation Blood from the heavens falls to the earth Now, you shall witness the fire of rebirth! Chorus 1: Once fell the beasts of yore The flame their lives restored They walk the earth once more In golden flames, now be reborn! Verse 2: Though every life comes to an end And though every sword turns to rust, Keep your faith in your partner And faith in your friends Keep your trust through the ashes and dust Prove you can wield the sacred fire! Prove that your sun rises ever higher! In golden ashes will you rise again? Baptized in flame, human tell me your name. Chorus 2: Look to the beasts of yore The flame their lives restored Now walk the earth once more In golden flames, now be reborn! Ho-Oh: You truly are worthy. Very well, I choose to join you at the end of your journey. May the flames of rejuvenation burn bright within your heart.
How on GOD'S JHOTO did I didn't see this any sooner?! But really tho, Ho Oh is my personal Pokémon. Yes not my favourite but what I feel embodies me best as a mortal being...
And, while I don't want to spew hate, I still kinda want to bring up some things said in this thread:
About the in universe lore, I'd say that Ho-oh only got the resurrection part of the story sticking out more than Lugia's side. But imo that doesn't count as much anymore since the Johto episode of the Evolution web series where it was shown that Lugia took care of the fire.
As for it's anime appearance, I would like to start with the movies:
Lugia got 2, but for both it appeared mostly only at the end, 2000 having it kinda be in the background so the action wasn't on it and The Power of Us being the same deal with Zeraora as Ho-oh's movie was with Marshadow.
As for anime appearances, I'd say it's still balanced, slightly in Lugia's favor, but not by much when we think about it:
- Lugia parent and child Ho-oh's appearance in the first ever episode of the anime.
The effects on Ho-oh’s voice fit it really well!
Do you know what that meant or no?
@@Bakersboi13 According to another comment, it's a Buddhist chant for perseverance.
Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō is the chant. And it definitely feels like MOTI did their homework on the matter. Here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namu_Myōhō_Renge_Kyō
i like the filter on the chant
I've always loved the bells at the start of the fight, they have always sound beautiful to me and you have made them sound even more beautiful to me❤❤❤
The chorus n Juno's lines in conjunction to each other is beautiful n glorious n it tells the take of the tower that was destroyed too so good job
Dear God,
I knew it would be Ho-Oh theme that would be done next, but I never expected this, keep up the great work everyone.
You know, I would TOTALLY love an entire song of just Ho-Oh's summoning ritual. I'm a sucker for it.

日本語訳
Let our voices rise up like the sun
太陽のように声を昇らせ
Call to the heavens where the rainbows lies
虹かかる天に呼びかけよう
Now we implore you, flaming lord of the skies
今、燃ゆる空の王者に希う
Grace us with your flight
羽ばたきで我らを祝福し
Bring us heaven`s light
天の光をもたらしたまえ
Let our voices sing of grand rebirth
偉大な再生を歌わん
Flame, rain, and lightning were brought back from the fall
炎、雨、雷が黄泉から蘇りしことを
Now we implore you, bring your sacred fires to all
今、全ての者にせいなるほのおをもたらしたまえ
Grace us with your warmth
その熱で我らに祝福を
Grace the sacred earth
聖なる土に恵みを
HO-OH!
ホウオウよ!
Child of Johto`s long, renowned history.
古き誉あるジョウトの子よ。
Have you the strength to rise once more from the flames of rebirth?
再誕の炎からもう一度立ち上がる強さが君にはあるのか?
Now face me, and show me the power you have gained from your journey!
私と向き合い、君が冒険で手に入れた力を見せたまえよ!
You who emerged form the fertile earth
豊穣の大地から現れた者よ
You who climbed to the edge of the sky
空の果てまで登ってきた者よ
Now you must prove what your journey was worth
今 君は示さなければならない 君の冒険の価値を
what it means to be reborn to be alive
生まれ変わること 生きることの意味を
Life burns away, but it rises again
命が燃え尽きようとも、再びよみがえる
Such is the way of rejuvenation
それが復活というもの
Blood from the heavens falls to the earth
天からの血が大地へと落ち
Now you shall witness the fire of rebirth!
君は今、再誕の炎を目撃する
Once fell the beasts of yore
昔、死んだ獣たちが
The flame,their lives restored
炎により命を取り戻した
They walk the earth once more
彼らは再び大地を往く
In golden flames, now be reborn!
黄金の炎の中で、生まれ変わるときだ
Though every life comes to an end
全ての命には終わりが来て
And though every sword turens to rust
全ての剣は錆びてしまうものだが
Keep your faith in your partner and faith in your friends
仲間を信じ友を信じよ
Keep your trust
信頼し続けよ
Through the ashes and dust
灰と塵が積もっても
Prove you can wield the sacred fire
せいなるほのおを操れることを示せ
Prove that your sun rises ever higher
君の太陽は天へ昇ると示せ
In golden ashes will you rise again?
黄金の灰から君は再び立ち上がるのか?
Baptized in flame
炎の洗礼を受け
Human, tell me your name!
人間よ、名を教えてくれ!
Look to the beasts of yore
かつての獣たちを見よ
The flame, their lives restored
炎により彼らは命を取り戻した
Now walk the earth once more
彼らは再び大地を往く
In golden flames, now be reborn!
黄金の炎の中で、生まれ変わるときだ
You truly are worthy. Very well.
実によくできた子だ。よろしい。
I choose to join you at the end of your road.
君の行く道の最後まで、共にいることを選ぼう。
Let the flames of rejuvenation burn ever bright within your heart!
復活の炎をその心に何時も輝かせたまえ!

I translated the lylics in Japanese because the song impresses me.
感動したので、日本語訳をしました。
I'm not good at English.
英語はあまり得意ではありません。
If my translation is incorrect, please excuse and tell me.
ミスがあっても、ご容赦ください。また、教えてください。
I dunno what it is, but something about the juxtaposition of the kimono girls light, smooth performance at the start, Ho-oh's intro speech, and the way his voice just DROPS when the lyrics kick in with the beat makes this really wonderful build up into a satisfying clash.
Its like we went from a prayer or a hymn to "oh we gettin REAL now"
The ending lines really drive home the feel of the whole song as well. This is not a subduing of a titan or a desperate stand against a fundamental force of the universe - this is a battle of equals. You don't coerce Ho-oh to join your team - you convince him.
This was amazing, the chorus was nice, and the lyrics sung by Ho-Oh were great.
I don't know how you keep making such BANGERS out of my favorite games but you do! Really good job man.
I never understood why Ho-Oh was a fire type, but now I understand because it’s a phoenix.
Love that they added the music from the summoning dance. It's criminally underrated in my friend groups.
Now all that's left is to wait for the spotify release, Keep up the great work!
I love Ho-Ohs voice its like its echoing inside your mind. This is why gen 2 will remain top tier for the foreseeable future.
This was absolutely amazing! Brought back so many childhood memories!
Help I’ve had this on loop for over 3 hours straight
I love how you included the kimono girls in this amazing song
Pokémon HeartGold was the first Pokémon game I ever completed, back when I was a kid…
…Now, I’m currently playing through it again!! And I feel like Ho-Oh himself has breathed new life into me!
Dude this is incredible ho-oh's singing is so good and the kimono girls singing is so good 🤩🤩🤩
Ho-Oh is so majestic and elegant as its theme, and the lyrics for the theme are so perfect. Ho-Oh truly is the deity of rebirth and good fortune.
This theme was already great with the japanese instruments and that japanese feel and i really loved how you included japanese singing into it. I also love how Juno did the voice of the almighty Ho-oh
This is one of the best songs of all time! You put so much detail into this, and every fact about Ho-Oh! I personally, have this at the tippy top of my list for your Pokémon songs from worst to best!
What a great video thank you for showing us Hoenn creation trio theme with lyrics will be cool
The sound of this song is truly amazing.
I'm speechless... This is gorgeous. Ho-oh is my favorite pokémon since I was a small trainer. Listening to such homage is so heart warming, thank you 😊
Finally some respect for the freaking phoenix Pokemon I'm still confused as to why he hasn't gotten the big role in the anime yet
Dang, this is my favorite one so far. The lyrics are straight fire!
*pun very much intended*
Absolute phenomenal work. I personally owe a lot to Ho-oh.
HO-OH Song is so amazing!!
Now THAT was powerful - Ho-oh be proud and a song worthy of the Phoenix itself!
out of all the videos i've seen from you i have to say this is the most visually spectacular one. I was in sheer amazement at how beautiful this animation was.
"Very well. I choose to join you." Like he wasn't just caught in a ball by a 10 year old. XDXD
Great. Now, I want to play Pokemon Heartgold again. Thanks to this song
I wonder if we’ll get a cover of Lugia’s theme next?
Now this was epic! And from my favorite Johto legendary
This is simply... *beautiful*
I don't even have words for it.
I love it. Ho Oh is my favorite Johto legendary and I love this!
Wow, it‘s cool and beautiful!!
I love it!
Yeah, finally Ho-oh have a lyrics song XwX you are great guys :D,good job
Could you do Lugia's theme too? I kinda want to hear how'd it sound with lyrics
You should publish your new Pokémon musical songs like you did for the other ones
im sorry but the flames of rebith? XD we have secretly all been saying it wrong and i loveeeee this song ty for making it!
This song is really addictive and I love it.
Hoho: prove wat your journey was worth
Me : trows ultra ball
Hoho about to break out and kill my team with crit burn sacred fire’s : and I took that personally
The beauty of Ho-oh
I love the ending, that Ho-oh more so CHOOSES to go with you and be with you on your team, that you are a worthy trainer to be with
I was expecting this to be a bit silly but I’m very impressed. Well done!
The summoning chorus wins all the music
As someone whose first pokemon game was HeartGold, this really makes me relive my childhood.
I have chills!
Can't wait for Lugia to get a lyrics I bet that will sound awesome also this one is Just Golden.
This music was amazing! I hope one day you do a version for Lugia, she's my favourite legendary pokémon...
Ho-Oh: You truly are my child. Very well. I choose to join your adoptive family at the end of your road. Let the flames of rejuvenation burn ever bright within your heart!
I missed Ho-oh's theme so much. Thank you for reliving my youth today.
Such beautiful melodies for favorite legendary
OH DAMN JUNO your voice
I just felt my inner Johto...
Rebirth? Haha
Thank you so much for this omg 🥲
Some parts remind me of Urbosa's theme or one hymn I know. Very cool.
I like how you include dialogue at the end of every video for how the Legendary accepts being caught.
I'm imagining in an updated version of Gold with this playing, the 2nd verse plays at a 2nd phase, after you reduce Ho-oh to low/1 HP, with the Kimono girls singing as they raise their hands to the sky, giving Ho-oh a full HP Recovery, a Leftovers-esque passive heal every turn, and a permanent Sunny Day effect.
That would be pretty sick and would add a challenge to Ho Oh
I keep coming back because of the opening
You who emerged from the falling skies, you who fell to the edge of the earth, now you must prove what your raged life was worth, what it means to be returned, to be revived!
This is a accurate song that also tells the story of Ho-Oh.
Nah Ho-oh sounds a whole monk and I LOVE IT!
I never would’ve excepted this but it’s literally 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Time to grab my popcorn for my boys Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquazza and Deoxys
Just Kyogre/Groudon
All I want is one for Deoxys, been waiting years for it, more than that is icing on the cake for me!
Now i what lugia theme to be covered. great work as always.
I got the lyrics. Well, Ho-Oh’s part anyway.
Ho-Oh: Child of Johto’s long, renowned history, have you the strength to rise once more from the flames of rebirth? Now face me, and show me the power you have gained from your journey!
Verse 1:
You who emerged from the fertile earth,
You who climbed to the edge of the sky
Now you must prove what your journey was worth, what it means to be reborn, to be alive
Life burns away, but it rises again
Such is the way of rejuvenation
Blood from the heavens falls to the earth
Now, you shall witness the fire of rebirth!
Chorus 1:
Once fell the beasts of yore
The flame their lives restored
They walk the earth once more
In golden flames, now be reborn!
Verse 2:
Though every life comes to an end
And though every sword turns to rust,
Keep your faith in your partner
And faith in your friends
Keep your trust through the ashes and dust
Prove you can wield the sacred fire!
Prove that your sun rises ever higher!
In golden ashes will you rise again?
Baptized in flame, human tell me your name.
Chorus 2:
Look to the beasts of yore
The flame their lives restored
Now walk the earth once more
In golden flames, now be reborn!
Ho-Oh: You truly are worthy. Very well, I choose to join you at the end of your journey. May the flames of rejuvenation burn bright within your heart.
Namu Myoho Renge Kyo is something or other about the lotus sutra.
Oooo, I'm so excited for the next song! I'm wondering if it's gonna be a duet like Award of 42 was in the Hat in Time bytes.
that intro man...gives me chills every time.
How on GOD'S JHOTO did I didn't see this any sooner?!
But really tho, Ho Oh is my personal Pokémon. Yes not my favourite but what I feel embodies me best as a mortal being...
I still remember the bells around it's mighty yet weathered tower and it's soothing yet boasting calls for the rainbow to shine it's wings...
And when He rested his wings and we saw eye to eye with one another.... I knew I would truly never forget the long battle with it...
Thank you... for reminding me his wing is still within me....
