I have my atheist husband who heard this song many times at home , and instead of the word holy he says sushi , I’m praying and hoping one day he utters Holy … I somewhat never felt offended , Bcz I trust that Jesus will turn things around and he will accept Him soon . ❤
Praying for you and your husband that he may be sanctified through you. I was atheist for the longest time, I was agnostic for a while until about two months ago when a friend I had just met asked me to call upon Jesus to forgive me of my sins and make me a new creature. Just love him and be patient, there’s hope.

Usually drums are the last thing I want to hear in a hymn. This one is different. These drums give the song a mysterious raw militaristic and gritty depth mixed with eternal glory. It makes you want to march in line and jump and shout and somehow prostrate yourself all at the same time.
Drums are often used in music to be reminiscent of a living, changing, ceaseless heartbeat. Very symbolic.

I am a Hispanic woman who grew up in a Presbyterian Church. I had always loved singing this song from the Hymnal book. This takes vedio took me back to this time and the smell of the old Hymnal book.. this version of the song brought tears to my eyes when I heard the beat of the drums.. oh HOW I LOVE GOD!!

My sweet mom singing this beauty 8: 45 most Sunday mornings at Saint Stephens church during the 60's with her children. The choir played Holy Holy Holy at her funeral as her children sang loudly and proudly last year.
My Grandpa just passed away today. I was and always will be a big Grandpa's girl. My grandma sang him this song as he passed.

Jesus Christ IS God the Father. There is no "Trinity" in the Bible, but there is a "Godhead".
In the Biblical Godhead, The Father is the Soul of God, Jesus Christ is the Body of God, and the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God. 3 separate PARTS to 1 single divine being, NOT three separate PERSONS in one God, or "God in three persons". A person is made up of body, soul, and spirit. God is not three separate, distinct persons as the Trinity teaches. If God was three separate, distinct persons, that would be polytheism - which is what the Trinity is. Also, look at this:
"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." - 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
We see here that a man is made up of body, soul, and spirit. The Bible says here that man was created in the image and likeness of God:
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
- Genesis 1:26-27
So this means that God has a body, soul, and spirit because man has the same, and man is made in the image and likeness of God. And before you say "See! There's the Trinity right there in the verse! It says "Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness!" Let me ask you this; who is the image of God? The Bible gives the answer:
"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:" - Colossians 1:12-15 KJV
Jesus Christ is "the image of the invisible God" according to Scripture. Also, here is further proof that Jesus Christ IS God the Father:
"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
- John 1:18 KJV
So we see here that "No man hath seen God at any time", obviously this verse is talking about God the Father, but look at what this verse says about Jesus Christ:
"That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."
- 1 Timothy 6:14-16 KJV
This verse is talking about Jesus Christ and it says concerning him: "dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see", but again, John 1:18 says concerning God the Father: "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
So the Bible says concerning both God the Father AND Jesus Christ that no man has seen them. If you believe in the Trinity then these 2 verses contradict each other because people saw Jesus Christ with their own 2 eyes. So, along with John 14:7-10 and John 12:44-45, there is only one explanation; Jesus Christ IS God the Father, and God the Father IS Jesus Christ. Again, the Godhead is Body, Soul, and Spirit, 3 parts to 1 being. The Biblical Godhead is the only one that actually makes sense. Here is another verse that is a stumbling block to Trinitarians:
"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Philippians 2:9-11
EVERY knee should bow, of things in HEAVEN? EVERY tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord? So if God is three separate persons, are you telling me that God the Father is going to bow down to Jesus Christ and confess with his tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord? Bit of a problem there because the Trinity teaches that all 3 persons are EQUAL, but if one person is bowing down to the other person, that means that the person that is bowing down is lower than the person he is bowing down to and vice versa.
I sang this in church in the choir... this version is an example of what some old fashioned hymns can be transformed into. The day thou gavest Lord is ended is another personal favourite . Feel inspired to look for a new version. GOD IS GOOD.AMEN 🙏 HALLELUJAH PRAISE THE LORD 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

I first learned of this hymn in 1985 when someone asked me to sing it to audition for a choir. Problem was I did not know it cause I had not been in church much until that time. Since then I've heard it and sang it in church many times. This performance of it captures the beauty of the hymn's message about as well as I've ever heard it. The video is perfect for this also.

This is a longstanding favourite of mine. I grew up hearing it in church, and in my early teens (circa 14) I bought a 4 CD set because two of the discs were Handel's Messiah, but buying that on its own was a couple of dollars more. The other two discs were "Hymns Triumphant" and were classic hymns done with full, orchestra and choir, and when I actually listened to them, were equally as good as the Messiah, at least. This was one of the familiar hymns I knew well, and much to Mum's bemusement, I would sing the alto track to, instead of soprano (my usual singing register).
I keep returning to this recording. It is so lovely and powerful. Thank you, Audrey!

This is such a beautiful, heart-felt rendition. It is so important that the video output the words, and I'm glad that they were, here. It seems the spiritual meaning of the hymn is really captured: "Thought the darkness hide thee; though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see. Only though art holy; there is none beside thee."
