It’s great to see AMS 2 get the credit it deserves. There are some RUclipsrs that are determined to almost make this game socially unacceptable in sim racing. They say it’s a poor Sim and the physics aren’t good, none of the cars drive like actual cars ect which isn’t true. I know when it first released it had issues with physics but that really isn’t the case anymore. There’s always room for improvements, but it’s definitely developed into a solid sim I own Just about every sim AC, ACC, I racing, dirt rally 2, R factor 2 and AMS 2. They all have their strong points and they all need improvements in some areas, but I think AMS 2 is a strong sim racer has good physics, good FFB and personally I think it has the best UI and the best VR support. The weather physics definitely need to be improved especially with the AI when it starts raining mid race. It doesn’t have a proper career mode and like you said the online support could be better, but the developers are constantly trying to improve this sim and it’s become one of my favorite.

It’s a difficult question because I have been addicted to both titles for years. Both are strong in different aspects:
AMS2: a bit better force feedback (for me, with TMX), customizable hud, historical tracks and vintage cars (more fun with H-shifter and manual clutch!), tough AI (they can attack and defend), a wealth of possibilities in single mode (you can replay real racing events with real weather conditions if you set the date correctly). Also, you can practice with other players’ ghost cars in time trial mode.
ACC: tyre physics, sound design, beautiful graphics and car details, feels like more authentic (due to focus on the GT races), ranking system, well-sorted tracks, characteristic cars, a plenty of fun with other players, very addictive gameplay.
If I had to choose between playing only one of them from tomorrow for the rest of my life... well, I couldn't decide.

I love both and have thousands (plural) of hours in ACC via Xbox and PC. It would be perfect for what it is if they fixed the brakes. GT3 drivers do not intentionally max out the brakes and get into the ABS. They threshold brake, pretty standard for all road racing.
It absolutely kills it for me. AC gets it right, iRacing, AMS2, RF2, even F1 console games, but the greatest pure sim ACC screwed the pooch with their braking. It drives me nuts. ABS is in these cars a safeguard, largely for gentleman racers.

AMS2s AI is much more dynamic, banging doors sometimes they crash.

ACC at brands hatch in the mclaren my best laps are high 1:23s. AMS same car same track i can barely crack into 1:27s. The FFB in AMS violently throws me off the track and into the grass in several braking zones (especially braking into hawthron), the car is constantly micro-sliding with no feeling like the tires are made of plastic, and the brakes lock up above 50% pressure. I turned the "brake sensitivity" setting in AMS from 50 to 1, and I set brake pressure to around 70% in most cars which helps get more range in the brakes before they lock. I'll have to look into those custom FFB settings you mentioned because the default irritates me so much that I avoid AMS at all costs.

You sound like you have a calibration problem with your brake pedal. I have similar problems with the brakes locking if when I do the calibration and touch the pedal just a few percentages with my foot on screen the percentages instantly go to full power. Try redoing your pedal calibration and watch carefully the percentages displayed on your screen while you are pressing the brake pedal. If during brake pedal calibration you have the same problem and the moment you touch the brake pedal onscreen the percentages instantly jump to full brake power redo the brake calibration. Usually for me works the second time,. Unfortunately this is a problem that I have with pCars 2 also.

I want to love AMS2 but it just isn't consistent in it's feedback and physics compared to ACC where also the graphics and sound are superior. Not sure what custom settings you used, would love to know, as IMO for GT3 specifically ACC feels far better than AMS2.
Howvever in VR, AI and variety AMS2 wins hands down and I'm hoping the 1.6 update makes up the deficiencies.
Lately though I've started on iRacing (via a dirt cheap 12 month sub) and I have to admit in most areas (bar graphics) that is better than both of these titles albeit it's really a subscription based live service rather than a conventional game.
