42:33 The best tiebreak rule, imo, comes from the game of Arboretum: "the tied players both plant a tree. In five years' time, the player whose tree has grown the tallest wins" :-
One of my favorite rules in general is in Tindahan, aka Filipino Fruit Market: in the event of a tie, designer Peer Sylvester wins, even if he wasn't playing
THIS CHEMISTRY! Unbeatable. Right off on the first game I am already dying of laughter. Every time Mike, Tom, and Zee come together, it keeps the doctor away.
I know, so enjoyable to watch these 3 together. Honestly, all the members of DT seem to have good chemistry. Tom has done a good job of building the crew.
I just like to say that I think the reason these lists continue to work is because Tom gives everyone such freedom to interpret what should be on the list. It would be easy to tell people exactly what the list titled meant. Then they would end up too similar
I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes the other contributors complain that something is too broad a topic, but they should be celebrating that fact instead. Sly like a fox, that Thomas is!
Zee, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat did exactly that (the Fake Artist thing) of taking turns making marks on paintings. Just thought I'd mention for trivia sake..
Mike, at 32:10 , it's not a possessive s. The apostrophe in that case means that a word is abbreviated. In this case " 's" is short for "es", meaning "it". Therefore, a pretty direct translation of the game title would be "Shake It". (Oh, btw, it's German.)
“Poetry for Neanderthals” is my pick. Hitting people with the “NO!” stick is so much fun, and the game is just totally ridiculous stupid fun. I highly recommend it! 😂
This was a fun video to watch, as I expected. It was so fun watching the banter and jokes on this one. 😂 I love Tokyo Jidohanbaiki (Mike's #7). You can create any game you like with it, but I quite like the one where you're buying stock in shapes/colors of the bottles. The suggested dexterity game is quite fun, too. It makes me wish I was clever enough to make up a really fun game with it. Probably would try to make one that makes it more likely for stuff to stick in the vending machine. I do wish they got stuck in there more often.
Fun fact: Mouse Trap and Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots (implied in the episode) were designed by Marvin Glass and Associates. They also designed Lite Brite, Operation, and Simon.
This type of list is so amazing to put together! Games most of us would never come across and so fun to find out about them! Hoping Bible Brawl makes the list (at number 9 right now)
Cosmic Frog - you’re gigantic galactic frogs that eats terrain (as in entire desert or forests or wastelands etc) and store it in your belly. Then you vomit it up into your safe from last to first to score points
the game itself isn't ridiculous I don't think, it's a funny concept like Twilight Inscription, but even Tom agrees that doesn't fit the criteria for this list
I kind of disagree with Zee on A Fake Artist Goes to New York. Sure, if you press the details as exactingly as he did it doesn't hold together. But I've always liked the backstory -- that someone on the lamb (from what, we don't know) is trying to blend in with a group of artists in order to keep his identity from being discovered. THAT makes sense. Regarding the exact particulars after that, dip your brush into a little imagination on your palette and carry on!🎨
btw, as an illustrator playing with my illustration friends we had a blast with Fake Artist Goes To New York. And, no, we don't draw that well when we play XD
Totally interpreted this top 10 differently than Tom, Zee, and Mike did lol Here was some i originally had: Gatefall - Ridiculous "minis" size. Like Absurd! Ultra Tiny Epic games ( Galaxies/Kingdoms) - Like why do we need Ultra Tiny Epic lol Smash Up - Theme; gotta love when Steampunk Princess take on Killer Plant Spidermen and Ghost Haflings lol Funkoverse - Theme again. Funny Chibi's fighting eachother in ridiculous/fun fashion Ice Cool - the flicking mechanic Disney Sidekicks - Cute, Family, Disney, approachable game right? Wrong! Hard, convoluted, boring game lol King of Tokyo - Theme wise just always seemed like giant monsters having a Ho-down or tango dance party on a poor city lol
Lokus has a heart on the door because (almost) all outhouses in bavaria have a heart shaped peephole. It's there for ventilation, to see if it's occupied (or somebody got unconcious, which could happen because of gases) and if you turn the heart shape around it resembles a butt (that's why it got picked for a toilet symboly back in the days, it's a modest and descreet pictogram).
Camel Up was fun, before the new version came out. Now, it's even more fun, with players' camels landing on the camels going backwards! Ridiculous, and great.
14:15 It may be ridiculous to play as a genetic trait but it does make perfect sense. They may not be a conscious entity but they do have the goal of being reproduced--who knows how much these traits drive our behavior (the fact that I have dark hair/skin and I'm "mysteriously" attracted to women with dark hair/skin, is just one example of their power over our supposed "free will").
I'd argue some of that is social, especially when it comes to race/culture, but yeah, there have been some studies done that show people are more attracted to genetically similar folks iirc. Interesting thought
Rampage or Terror in Meeple City is such a fun game. I have two kids and we are often play this game and have a blast. Yeah, granted its not. not aimed ať adults but its a fun game.
Dear Mike, I really liked Elefantenparade from '88, moving your own and the elephants of other players, to race but also avoid puddles;o) Similarly Mitternachtsparty aka Escape from the hidden castle from '89 was also a very light but quite fun party racing game. Cheers!
I owned Dart Wars. Great concept, but the magnetic darts/board did not work and the darts often fell out or slid down the board making it basically unplayable. A cork version would have been great.
There are several really ridiculous concepts behind several games from Cheapass Games. The first one I thought of when seeing the title is "Bitin' Off Hedz" where you play dinosaurs in a suicide race up a volcano trying to throw themselves into that volcano.
59:52 The incredibly rare occurrence when I've been playing a game for a long time that Tom, Zee and Mike haven't played it yet...I had to make note of it.
I own the Queen Games' Shogun 2006 version. The battle system uses a tower where you drop little cubes (armies) and some of them will get stuck in. It's a good game but ridiculous combat results from the tower. Very frustrating when you attack with 8 cubes someone who has 3, then the tower result screw you with a 2-3 result. Sometimes after the final points countdown we empty the tower to find why someone has lost the game even if he played well, a lot of his cubes stuck inside.
I assumed A Fake Artist Goes To New York .. was representational of .. a fictional conversation rather than in any way literal. Like everyone is talking about how great one piece of art is and you have no idea why they like it so you are pretending to like and just say something to fit in .. 'ah yess.. the textual brushstrokes upon the rotten banana speaks volumes' ... to which they reply 'that's an elbow' ...for example.
50:41 This game, especially with its plastic igloo components, reminds me of a game which was just on Kickstarter - called “Abducktion”. That one also has plastic components.
Draper said somewhere that the problem was the Tokyo Jidohanbaiki vending machine was made "too well," so bottles don't get stuck in it. This basically just ruins every single game that uses it.
The heart in the outhouse door is prototypical in Germany and widely recognizable. I don't know why, but you'll be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a wooden outhouse without it.
The "s" at the end of "Schüttel's" is not possesive. The title (short for "Schüttel es") could be translated as "shake it". As for "Lokus", that's colloquial for toilet. In this case, it's an outhouse, which used to (or at least supposed to have had) heart-shaped openings in their door. "Knattern, bis die Schüssel qualmt!" (on the cover) means (again, colloquially) "shit until the toilet bowl smokes". Don't ask ...
I believe the theme for "Igloo Pop" is an elaborate pun. In Germany, the most famous brand of fish sticks is "Käpt'n Iglo". Could it be? We may never know..
Some out houses here in europe has a hole in from of a heart, diamond or crescent moon on the doors. Have seen quite a few at least here in sweden on vacations. Since that game is german, it does make sense to have a heart hole on the door. One of my silliest game is Meeple Circus. Trying to balance meeples, animals and some other pieces to make specific combinations. While the classic circus tune plays, also. The person fastest gets to grab a bonus. Real time, stress and very silly. It takes around 15 min to play.
I own "Shootin' Ladders", the sequel to "Run for your Life, Candyman". It's a battle game on a "Chutes 'n' Ladders" board and uses the same player sheets with tearing off limbs. All the weapons are candy puns/jokes.
Dungeon Fighter was the first game I thought of when I saw the title. It's SO ridiculous in task and in success. What's worse? There are expansions to make the game HARDER.
Mike was an old teacher of mine! How cool how the world is small! Best psychology and sociology teacher!
I love that the Top 10 guys (including Sam Healey) have teaching backgrounds.
I think it helps, they are well trained
He seems like a super cool dude!
42:33 The best tiebreak rule, imo, comes from the game of Arboretum:

This sounds like a Dwight Schrute rule.
That does sound hard to beat!
That is amazing
@@paulabbottii6937lol, it totally does sound like a Dwight Schrute rule.
The trio of Mike, Tom, and Zee is the best trio in DT history. Love you guys!
THIS CHEMISTRY! Unbeatable. Right off on the first game I am already dying of laughter. Every time Mike, Tom, and Zee come together, it keeps the doctor away.

If I ever need a reference video for method acting, Zee acting as Sam is that video. Sublime.
Zee to Mike: “32 you animal” 😂😂😂😂😂
Zee, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat did exactly that (the Fake Artist thing) of taking turns making marks on paintings. Just thought I'd mention for trivia sake..
The way you wrote that I thought for a second Zee was making marks on paintings with Warhok and Basquiat! Lol
@@soogymoogi haha, I wish Zee was in that scene in the movie Basquiat

I, one million percent, would love to own a T-shirt that says “Ask me about my see-saw.”
oh my lord. Mike got so invested, he forgot how to multiply, priceless
As ever, "ridiculous" doesn't have to be a negative quality. Sometimes things succeed entirely because they are ridiculous in the right way.
Love that there was no previous discussion what ridiculous meant in relation to board games, made the video a lot of fun.
This is one of my favorite Top 10 lists of all time.
All forms of seriousness, ridiculousness and humor.
Still waiting for official Dice Tower “Ask me about my see-saw” tee shirts, guys!
“Poetry for Neanderthals” is my pick. Hitting people with the “NO!” stick is so much fun, and the game is just totally ridiculous stupid fun. I highly recommend it! 😂
Tom justifies his #1 with the exact same argument he criticized Mike for using on Mike's #10.
It's scripted 😅
You guys make me laugh. This was so much fun to watch! These games do look ridiculous but some of them are also strangely intriguing…
This was a fun video to watch, as I expected. It was so fun watching the banter and jokes on this one. 😂

Operation - AKA
The, how much caffeine have you had, game!
Zee has a talent for small unknown games. Perfect for this list
Zee's list is so good!
“Uh, you can make anything a game if you’re brave enough, um.”
-Zee 2022
I really laughed at that statement! I think he might be right
This type of list is so amazing to put together! Games most of us would never come across and so fun to find out about them! Hoping Bible Brawl makes the list (at number 9 right now)
For Toms' number 7 "Schüttel's", it's a short term of "Schüttel es" = shake it - shake't (if this even is allowed to exist in englisch 😄)
The look on Zee's
face when the others couldn't do some multiplication...
Cosmic Frog - you’re gigantic galactic frogs that eats terrain (as in entire desert or forests or wastelands etc) and store it in your belly. Then you vomit it up into your safe from last to first to score points
this game is chaos! agreed
I thought this too. Easy pick for this list.
Did anyone consider My Little Scythe? Started as a Vasel joke and turned into a really good game.
the game itself isn't ridiculous I don't think, it's a funny concept like Twilight Inscription, but even Tom agrees that doesn't fit the criteria for this list
As soon as Zee started impersonating Sam i KNEW he would mention bang the dice game. Haha !
I kind of disagree with Zee on A Fake Artist Goes to New York. Sure, if you press the details as exactingly as he did it doesn't hold together. King of Tokyo - Theme wise just always seemed like giant monsters having a Ho-down or tango dance party on a poor city lol
Love the Lokus subtitle 😂😂 'Pooing until the bowl smokes' 😂😂😂
Would love to see a top 10 list of Best Tie Breakers!
I was going to be disappointed if Zee forgot about the party favor game, He did not disappoint
Can we please get a game of Brian drake and other magicians playing cheating moths
I have a fondness for cheating moths. Tons of fun with my game group. My wife is very good as disappearing cards right in front of people watching.
@@chrismyers9897 My wife does that with money
I 100% was hoping for the Bang the Dice Game reference. Lol. Thanks for delivering.
The three commandments does also not start with an f in German (it's just Die drei Gebote), but it's also not published by 2F-Spiele
I would buy a shirt with Mike's actual face on the front and "ask me about my see-saw" on the reverse
It has to be the silly face he made for the PowerPoint on the "top 5 turnoffs" video
Zee played Sarah's Vision on a Testing Tuesday video - also QE is Tom's bang the dice game.
40:20 implied poop is the name of my puddle of mud cover band
"You can make anything a game if you're brave enough" LOL

Mike's t shirt should have his dice character on both sides of a seesaw with "ASK ME ABOUT MY SEESAW !" Above the seesaw pic.
"Aye, dark overlord" is pretty ridiculous as well
Battletech is back, baby, and it’s awesome!
Schüttel's means "Shake it" - makes sense even though it is a little extra weird that the meeple people are referred to as "it" - however, Great list
I think the "it" refers to the cup containing the people.
I owned Dart Wars. Great concept, but the magnetic darts/board did not work and the darts often fell out or slid down the board making it basically unplayable. A cork version would have been great.
My top (and probably only) ridiculous game that I still own is "Bugs in the Kitchen."
Thinking about a “Mike” mask for Halloween. Not sure the world can handle it.
"Who's the Dude" where you do charades with an inflatable doll.
There are several really ridiculous concepts behind several games from Cheapass Games. The first one I thought of when seeing the title is "Bitin' Off Hedz" where you play dinosaurs in a suicide race up a volcano trying to throw themselves into that volcano.

That spiky game reminds me of the one and only time we played taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza. I sliced my partners hand open with my nail…😅

That was interesting and entertaining. Thank you!
I remembered Dr. Shark from the bad games from great designers list, it was on Zee's list, so it is not surprising Zee hates it :)
Twilight Inscription is a superb pick, Mike.
Yep. A Roll and Write that only goes up to eight players? Absurd!
Great list!
Basically all traditional outhouses in Finland have a heart shaped "window" on the door. You know, why have square if you can have a heart. :D
:) Many, Many Congrats for your videos !

I would buy a shirt with Mike holding a boat captioned "Ask me about my seesaw" ....
Even the start of the countdown is ridiculous!
I finally own a game on an obscure list!!! Jidohanbaiki and Coin Laundry ftw! Lol
The heart in the outhouse door is prototypical in Germany and widely recognizable. I don't know why, but you'll be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a wooden outhouse without it.
In the US it’s traditionally a crescent moon hole.
I would def have included Pingo Pingo in here. What a ridiculous and wacky game!
IGLOO POP! My kids loved that game. Glad we held onto it!
Shoot Your Friends. Absolutely ridiculous.
I still have my copy of Rampage. :)
Hand To Hand Wombat should be on this list. It's silly fun.
I have to go with Piazza Rabazza. It's ridiculous, but also pretty fun if you're in the right mood
The "s" at the end of "Schüttel's" is not possesive. The title (short for "Schüttel es") could be translated as "shake it".

So how many shirts have you sold so far of Mike's face with, Ask Me About My Seesaw
Stop Thief uses audio clues for gameplay, but you're right Mike, there aren't many games that do.
