The word “prodigy” gets thrown around way too much. In this case, it is fully deserved. Lisa-X has been posting music on youtube since she was seven, did credible covers of Dream Theater and Polyphia at 10, and has had her own band since she was 13. The core members of Lisa-X band were Lisa-X, Rina on vocals and Hazuki, formerly of Disqualia and now the lead guitarist for Nemophila, on co-lead guitar. Here she is doing a playthrough with Hazuki on “Just Be My Treasure”: ruclips.net/video/mN_oLqTka6M/видео.html “One More Chance Is Enough” with Billy Sheehan (!) on bass (Sheehan is on the consensus short list of candidates for best rock bassist in the world). ruclips.net/video/PzsqmnEa89c/видео.html Rina left the band in 2022 and they took a hiatus to rebuild. They re-emerged as Koiai, and can legitimately claim to be a supergroup. Kotono joined them after stints with various groups including Ironbunny and a previous collaboration with Lisa-X. The big catch was Kanade Sato on drums. Sato is also a member of Muses and is in big demand as a session drummer. She is often compared with the already legendary Senri Kawaguchi. Wakazaemon has been appearing as a guest on bass. She frequently tours with Marty Friedman and is also a member of East of Eden. Here are two more links worth checking out. The first one is Lisa’s 2017 appearance at the annual female rock festival organized by Show-Ya-she is up there with some of the best guitarists in the world and they clearly love sharing the stage with her. The second one is her collaboration with the even younger drum phenom, Yoyoka Soma, who is herself a force of nature. The future looks great!
There is no younger drum phenom than Kanade, she has been playing jazz fusion since she was 3 and began playing with professional musicians in live performances at age 6, won Hit Like a Girl at 11, etc., Yoyoka is coming along, but she has a long way to go to catch Kanade.
Soft jazz metal, perhaps? I had actually forgotten about this song! I believe I sent you one of their earlier songs first, "A New Picture" (also recommended below, I see), that's the one that really impressed me. That ones quite different.
“Soft jazz metal, perhaps?” It has jazz elements, fast/shredding at parts, pop vocals, and a touch of rock? Kotono’s vocal-sound is the pop aspect, rather than instrumentally, which is more progressive. The drums really sell me on this one. I actually like ‘Come See Me’ a bit more than ‘A New Picture’ (my second favorite), especially from the writing side of it. Liking it a bit more is probably not an unpopular opinion as well, because it looks like it will pass ‘A New Picture’ in views. Anyway, I think ‘A New Picture’ would fit this guy better.
Next song has to be A New Picture (Metal). Koiai are- Li-sa-X- guitar, Hazuki- Guitar (Nemophila), Kotono- vocals, Kanade- Drums (Muses) and Wakazaemon. Bass East Of Eden. Feel you didn't really fancy this real music.
Not my cup of tea. Sure they are all very good musicians. It reminds me of elevator music with a guitarist that is determined insert a small shred at every opportunity
Can you elaborate? If you mean because it has a jazz element, well that doesn’t in itself mean the song is simplified into elevator music. It either fits elevator music, or it doesn’t. I think you would probably like their other song, ‘A New Picture’.
Elevator music? Yeah, sure. That's composed by the 19 years old prodigy girl who was shredding in the video. By the way, Li-sa-x played with Polyphia when she was 13 years old.
@@SomethingToDo360 no worries, nothing to do with a jazz element" and without writing an essay- I thought One Way or Another was good and A New Picture was excellent and Li-sa-x is a fabulous musician and guitarist. I suppose I was looking forward to the release of this and it didn't speak to me as I had expected. As I said they are all great musicians, but I was expecting a succulent rib-eye steak and felt I was served a plate of tofu. For me it's a nice, pleasant soft rock, pop song that has nice vocals, but I don't recognise a hook that grabs me or an emotion that draws me in. Sorry, that's my opinion on that one song. I might be in the minority and the majority may love the composition which is fine by me.
@@poncedeleon759 It’s fine. From a writing perspective, there is a sense of space (or calm) in ‘Come See Me’, insomuch as all the instruments seem to almost be taking turns at times, allowing those instruments that are playing to stand out better (by not stepping on each other), and seems to itself be a Polyphia influence; they particularly add a sort of spaciousness to their songs, like those little intentional pauses between rhythmic patterns. ‘Come See Me’ has many nice details throughout, nice changes in the rhythm (Kanada Sato’s syncopated drumming, like starting at 1:57), some technical parts (Li-sa-X’s guitar shredding), while Kotono is meant to get people on the feels. I think it’s actually their best song, and shows real progress. One of the better guitar solos too. Personally, I don’t like ‘One Way or Another’, and on top of everything, it was all too familiar sounding as well. I do like ‘A New Picture’, but I can understand why a lot of people had issues with the abrupt ending (again, from a writing perspective). I should say, I really like the current Koiai, but I don’t care much for their first EP, as I feel it’s too heavy on the pop in a very singer-focused way, while the later addition of Kanade Sato improved things by redirecting much to the band as a whole (more to the instrumentals), a direction which should continue as Wakazaemon participates in the recording for the upcoming EP. Kotono’s vocal-sound being the pop aspect of their music currently, rather than instrumentally, which is more progressive (especially now), together forming a sort of progressive pop. Edit: BTW, the reaction video to ‘Come See Me’ by ‘Rock Candy’, actually mentions this spaciousness to the song as well (which you might be picking up on in your first post), which is when I first mentioned it in regard to a Polyphia influence, and so you might want to check out his video as well.
These young women are simply amazing!!! Super Group!!!!!!😊❤

Sorry I’m late. I don’t want to repeat Hiawatha.g’s comment. I will simply say I love this band and all of the artists. ❤️💙
