I know literally no one who’s even heard of these books, so I’m really happy you’re getting into it. My favorite things about this series is that the world is really complex and well-built (especially for a middle grade series), the characters have such human emotions and traits which I NEVER see (it’s like all of Sarah J Maas’s characters are flippin superheroes), and that their bad decisions actually lead to serious consequences later on, instead of just working out sweetly in the end. I won’t spoil anything, but there’s something that happens in the 3rd book that keeps building into a much more serious problem until it all falls down by the end of book 5, and I personally felt like this climactic build-up to a devastating result was done so well in this series. Ellie, Books, and the Struggles of Life the series is actually really famous. I see it EVERYWHERE, but I don’t get it. Yesterday, while shopping, I finally tried reading the first book. IT GOT ME HOOKED IN THE FIRST 3 PARAGRAPHS. I IMMEDIATELY DECIDED TO BUY IT
Sasha, I am 110% with you. I don't mind long series either. We get more of the characters, we see greater development, and we get more moments out of the couples we love. For example, I love the fact Throne of Glass is an 8-book series because we saw the amazing transformation Caelena went into becoming Aelin and getting so many amazing characters.
Keeper of The Lost Cities is SOOOOOO good!!! I’ve been following it since everblaze came out and it is my favorite series of all time!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!! Love you Sasha!

i literally LOOOVE kotlc more than percy jackson/hunger games/divergent/etc and MAYYBEEE even more or just as much as harry potter! its popular, however still very underrated! i truly hope one day it gets a movie and that the movie is done well like the harry potter movies! shannon really deserves all the attention she gets! she's a fantastic writer as well
I love the Keeper of the Lost Cities. I've only read the first three, but they are awesome. Also, I find for fantasy, longer tends to be better because there are new worlds and races. There's so much to discover and longer series and books can make you discover it. But it's not always good because I can think of a few books that spent all that length in the wrong spots.

This series honestly changed my love of reading. I’m not kidding when I say it helped me grow into who I am today! It was the start of my journey into reading bigger books and I felt so connected to the characters, especially Sophie, that it made me feel more powerful and confident! Not only did this series inspire me to read more but I still can put the books down when I read ANY one of them! It makes me so happy that your reading them now and I’m just so thankful for the day I accidentally came across the series! Love you❤️❤️

This is a super interesting discussion! I think you have some excellent points, however, I get so intimidated when there's a series I wanna start yet know that there are quiet a few books in the series... I need to get over that because when I just jump into one without realising, I tend to enjoy the journey far more instead of thinking "ahhh I have 6 books left ahhhh", when really that should be part of the fun because you know... more time in a beloved world, yet I still worry that perhaps there's more chance of disappointment, if that makes sense?? I definitely agree with your opinion on how longer series are better because in my opinion with a lot of stand-alones I always want the story to continue another book or two however with the long series, you're in that world for a while which I absolutely love.

I love long series', too. One of my favorites is the Noble Dead saga, which is 14 books. All year, I've been hosting a readalong for the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, which is also 14 books. I also love several series' that have spinoffs, or span multiple trilogies.

Long series can be fun for the slow plot development, moving toward a big end-game story. The bad thing about long series is that it can take a long time to get through them. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files, that's currently at 15 books, having begun in 2000. The author is planning on around 23 books in the series, so we have quite a ways to go.
I love this series! I discovered it when the 3rd book was out. I think it is amazing! Would definitely recommend if you love harry potter because it gave me a similar vibe, but it is totally its own thing.

Soundsike a really great series. I just might have to take a look at it. I know for me, I really love a long series if it is set in a great world. There is nothing like finding a wonderful world that you get to live in as you read the books. The longer the series, the longer you get to live in that world.

I adore series, the longer the better. Heck, my absolute fav series has like 6, 6 book arcs and still going, 11 stand alone books, and 12 novellas, and ton of comics. And each is new and interesting.
I prefer long series but probably not too long like 20+ books. However, sometimes when my mind is fixed with the number of series I stick with it (e.g. Fallen series by Lauren Kate, I just think they're 4 and I still claim that I supah love it)!!!

Another reason why I try to read them slow is because if I go to camp , then MAYBE I could make more fans of Shannon Messenger . I think its up to how the book is build. Some books have to many books and some too few. :) But the longest series i have read is Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter. It has over 20 books in the series and i have read 20 of them. Some of the books even has over 500 pages. I don't know how i read all of them :D
Longest book series I’ve read? The legend of the Ice People by Margit Sandemo. The series follows a family line, spams over 47 books(!) and almost as many generations. Loooove those long series!
I can only read long series if they are completed when I begin them! I made the mistake of reading the mortal instruments before the last one came out and by the time it was published I didn’t have the connection to the books anymore

But the longest series i have read is Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter. It has over 20 books in the series and i have read 20 of them. Some of the books even has over 500 pages. I don't know how i read all of them :D

Longest book series I’ve read? The legend of the Ice People by Margit Sandemo. The series follows a family line, spams over 47 books(!) and almost as many generations. Loooove those long series!
I can only read long series if they are completed when I begin them! I made the mistake of reading the mortal instruments before the last one came out and by the time it was published I didn’t have the connection to the books anymore
