Trot and Enka aren't the same... but they are all somehow connected... I'd say most of everything in Korean and Japanese culture is inspired by Chinese culture to be honest. They're not exactly the same but they're not so different either. ^^ Same with music from other Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam, etc...
