  • hey guys! it’s patit.
in today’s video, i wanted to share my digital note-taking system. i am a firm believer that notes are your best friend throughout your academic year. without decent notes, you wouldn’t be able to make the most out of your learnings. this isn’t your typical aesthetic notes because i’ve learned to practice practicality over aesthetics in my note-taking process. this note-taking system is one that i’ve used for years and one that has really helped me through tough times. let me know your note-taking system in the comments below!
i hope you enjoy this video!
thank you so much for watching!
    kisses, patit 💋

We used to have a teacher that asks how many homeworks we had for the day since they're always the last class and if the amount of homework we have is 2 then they'll sneak their homework in, but if its 4 homeworks, they will adjust the homework deadline for another week

I download (or purchase from etsy) handwritten (note-taking) fonts that look like a kid or a student's handwriting, my fave free font are Gaegu and Caroni. So I type instead of writing but it still gives the effect of handwriting.

I can't tell you how much this helped me. I started uni this year and it has been very difficult because I was never sure about what system to use for my studies. Law has so much content, and I access most of my textbooks online so I thought I needed to handwrite everything. IT JUST ISN'T POSSIBLE. There is WAY too much content. So my system is this:
    1. Compiling information into digital. Just like you do I get info from textbooks, articles, lectures, journals etc, so typing these quickly into one place saved so much time. I also had no idea I could just split my screen that saved me an IMMENSE amount of time, I cannot thank you enough.
    2. I'll print my notes out in the library, then from let's say it looks like an entire booklet, I will summarise it into a 1 page review sheet. Making summary sheets handwritten is very useful when I'm writing essays as I can glance over at the sheet if I'm looking for something. I also don't feel the need to write too much as I have a booklet that has all the information summarised. I can also spend my time making the sheet look pretty and neat because it's just one sheet, as opposed to 15+ 20 more.
    3. I turn my reading booklet into questions. It's really important that I'm thinking about the information I'm typing.
I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH for this video, it's made things so much easier for me, honestly THANK YOU.
Oh and I use the Cornell method to make my notes!

Since online classes I also decided to transition from physical notes to digital notes. I never fully appreciated the strength of digital note-taking til I landed in Obsidian after using multiple note taking apps. Personally I don't like just dumping information into simple docs or folders. Digital note-taking (through Obsidian) helped me link ideas together and helped me understand how concepts relate to each other. There are so many guides from youtubers like you and Linking Your Thinking that help me come up with my effective system.
I super appreciate your videos po and hope you make more amazing content 💕

Hello Ate Pat! I’ve been meaning to switch to digital notes as well (I have actually started but on some lectures pa lang) since I find it convenient to incorporate diagrams, photos, and the likes to my notetaking system. Loved that you made this video! Appreciate it A LOT! I also prefer working on that platform instead of the online version of it since the column feature isn’t available, and I find it much better to utilize as much space.

to record a transcript of a lecture ctrl+shift+s in google docs will bring up voice typing and it will write down everything a teacher says. I like do use that and then go back through and edit/format my paper during any free time I have in class so that I don't miss any information. If my teacher is using a slide presentation while speaking I will pull up a split screen and type notes on a different document while I have the voice typing white down what my teacher is saying in another document.
This has helped me get really good notes this year with both in person and online school.

Woah this is amazing! I also tried note taking in word too! 💕 Actually my note taking system is a mess...bc I love handwritten notes but I love the flexibility of digital notes. So what I would do is when I'm in lectures I make a messy dump of important terms and points on paper, after class I organize them in notion (yes I use notion for note taking) then if it's near exams i re-write them on paper 😂😂 (such a hassle I know but I enjoy it)

Hello, Using MS Word, do you know if it is possible to make colored tabs on the far right of the page, like if you put tabs in your notebook for different subjects?
I would like to do this for different subjects/categories for my business so I can just click on the tab and find the exact notes I need, instead of opening many different files and trying to find the notes.
I have seen some videos out there using Google Slides to do this but I am trying to do this with MS Word if it is possible. I don't think I will print out the notes as there are hundreds and hundreds of pages. Thank you.
