    I would put a piano hinge between the tow signs so that it will fold down and take up a little less space when you are traveling. Good luck brother man.

      I"m not sure exactly what my setup will be...but I do like the idea of it folding down into a smaller footprint....Thanks for watching!!

    Just put a straight bit in the cnc instead of a vcarve bit the other day. Oops. Yep, mistakes happen, but woodworkers are pros at “correcting”mistakes. Thanks for the video!

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  3 года назад

      Lol...Like i said i have made tons of mistakes...I have actually put the wrong bit in more than once, only to realize it right after I started a cut....One of the times was on some more expensive wood, (cherry), coulda kicked myself....

    lol, the way you were talkin, you thought you were in florida, thats how it is everyday, that sign looks great, glad to see you can afford the wood lol.

      It has been unseasonably cooler this year for us, tons of rain..been in the 60's lower 70's then BAM! 90's with 75-80% humidity...Crazy!!....this wood is some I got from a local mill last year, probably will see a few more out of this wood, I'm running low on my ol faithful go to, Birch plywood and I sure can't afford it right now....Thanks for watching!!!

    Hey Brian, I'm still thinking about how your project was cutting. Not the issue with your cutter going too deep, but the amount of fuzz that gets turned up when cutting soft woods like that cedar and plywoods. Have you tried to cut using a down cut cutter. I think you'll find that it will mostly eliminate all of the 'fuzz' that a conventional mill turns up. Using a new/sharp tool helps, but you'll find the down cut mill will really help.

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  3 года назад

      Yes, I had thought about the amount of sawdust in the cut...I really do think it was the dullness of the bit this time.....got one on order and will probably get a downcut on the way too....Thanks for watching!!!

    Great project this week, I did have to speed through, the V bit seemed to be Carving every branch & leaf on the trees. Love the white sapwood whisps of cloud through the tree valley again!
    What software do you use for design & carve? Seemed a lot of "travelling salesman" flitting around, slows the carve

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  3 года назад +1

      Oh I know!!! you should have been watching it real time!!! I thought it would never get done with the trees.....I use Vectric Aspire..as for the travel from spot to spot, I have no idea, it picks and chooses how it wants to operate and floors me on what it plans to cut at what time....still haven't figured out to make it more efficient.....Thanks for watching!!!

    Brian, I think besides having adult cutter, you could’ve not tightened your cutter end of the color it tight enough. It looks like it started to pull out

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  3 года назад

      Yes I really thought that was it to!!!..I was setting there thinking, "did i tighten it with the wrenches?"..actually checked it by hand, then tried to tighten with wrenches and it was tight....so went and checked the programming and somehow the pass depth was doubled somehow, dunno how, i hadn't messed with it but, i'm sure I did something to change it so it is still on me...I bet I check pass depth from now on!!!!....thanks for watching!!!

    Where did you find such a nice thick piece of cedar?

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  10 месяцев назад

      Actually locally sourced, I know a guy with a saw mill and has several types of wood he mills himself...Thanks for watching

  • @mpedmar9701

    Brian how long does that take to make in real time? And wouldn't it take less time if you didn't hop all around the design?
    Or is there a method to your madness? LOL Not criticism, just seriously curious.
    Beautiful finished product. So glad that the error was easily fixable. Especially with wood prices right now.
    Thanks for sharing
    Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe.
    May God continue to bless you and your family.

      Lol...well most take 30-45 minutes..That jumping all over the place is how the program chooses to do it, I have no control over what order it decides to cut...Thanks for watching!!

    What's Your Sign ?
    Maybe a set of scales for graphics

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  3 года назад

      Do you mean my astrological sign? or scales of justice?

    • @georgejo7905

      @@SmokeysCNCWoodworks Depends 😁 for a business scales with a bag and dollar sign For yourself any symbol that works with the pun.
      Identifyability with you may be a small vignette of smokeys cnc woodworks . I see the "W" carved in a box then illuminated like this
      images.app.goo.gl/pMW7XWHBCQADETB7A
      Emphasising the high quality of the artwork . I tried this in vectric , which I love , just draw a box around a large letter.
      I found walmart sells v bits on line got 2 120 degree 1.24 inch bits for $18 Canadian each yours will be less

    I'm not sure how dull your bit has to be.
    I've seen your cnc build and with a welded frame construction and 3hp spindle you should be able to cut a inch deep in cedar at 200ipm.

    • @SmokeysCNCWoodworks
      @SmokeysCNCWoodworks  3 года назад

      I figure I am underworking what I have....the bit is dull, the one other thing I did notice that I didn't address is the amount of sawdust that was jammed in that cut, it could have put it in a bind....This of was a afterthought, after I did the video....but I agree, i'm not working the machine to its capabilities....Thanks for watching!!
