- Believe it or not, I actually won this pedal in a recent contest. It was unexpected, but I've always wanted a Roland Space Echo so I was anxious to try out the modern recreation. It was a rainy day when I recorded this and I decided that's the perfect time to unbox a spacey pedal. It sounds really good!
The specs on this pedal can be found here: www.boss.info/us/products/re-...

Wow! I don't always want a 500 canadian bucks effects pedal, but when I do, it's the BOSS RE-202 Space Echo.
Yeah, it's definitely not cheap but it's a heckuva lot cheaper than finding a vintage 1970s space echo... and a fraction of the work to maintain it. Thanks for checking out the vid.
You could try the Nux NDD-7 which is a $170 clone of the original space echo.
Well you know my favorite part was at the end with the self oscillating!!
Great rainy day video and congrats on winning the pedal !!
I think you might be the first person that actually read the description. 🤣 it really is a good sounding pedal though.
Ah I always try and read them !! Glad for you !
now that is some kind of sound
big sound
sweet sound
so cool
It really does sound amazing. I feel like you plug anything into this and get a great sound.
@@musicalmiscellany very cool
enjoy
This is a really fun pedal, I'm a little jealous, and it sounds great. Also what mic are you using to record the rain?
TBH, I cheated on the rain part. I was hoping it would just show up via the camera but it was too hard to hear so I used a pre-recorded rain track laid under the mix. It did what I wanted, the rain sound is there but you don't' really focus on it. I'd seen these pedals years ago and the comparisons to the vintage REs but I never really "trusted" them. Now that I have one I can honestly say... it's good. I don't think you'd notice the difference live or on a recording. Thanks for checking it out man.
I love the sound of the spaced-out guitar with the rain. Did you capture the rain separately and mix them together? Nice work.
I totally cheated on the rain. LOL. I was hoping the camera would just capture the sound of the room, but it turned out to be way too quiet. By the time I boosted the ambient track to the point where you could hear the rain, there was way too much ambient noise. So, I just found a pre-recorded rain track and layered it into the mix quietly (the guitar signal is direct). It did a great job of recreating the mood in the room as I was recording the vid. The rain is there but not prominent. You caught me. 😝
@@musicalmiscellany LOL! The discussion about how authentic anything should be is a deep and wide one. And everyone will have their own opinion. At the end of the day it's the result that matters, and my opinion is that you should use what you need to use. What I heard was beautiful and atmospheric.
@@midi_in I am so glad to hear you say that. I feel the exact same way. The end result is what matters, regardless of how you get there.... but yes... there are some who feel vehemently the opposite. 🤣
