The color is fuchsia. Look it up; learn it; use it. I have yet to come across a Specialized Rockhopper/StumpJumper/Hardrock within my price range, which is to say, super cheap.
Picked up a real nice green earlier lower U Brake one a week ago. 1987? Everything works perfectly. Pedals were damaged. Nice Thumbie set up. Cool grips, even a King Cage. $80. I see some early 90’s ones in good shape free or $30-60. That has some rust. Had some hard times. Good of you to give it a new life! Cool color.
Your lucky day with the seat post and the stem ! I've had to put a few of them in a vise with less age than this one. This one has been spared the curse of moisture. Best of luck to you as you launch this vessel to the next chapter in it's life.
a few months ago I purchased a 1986 Rock hopper. Since it had a 130mm Rear wheel, I converted it into a single speed. The wheels are X28s with sealed bearing hubs. Changed to a hollow tech crankset. With Continental 26x1.75 tires and a chain tensioner, I got a lovely commuter. The Deore parts were used to complete another build. Looks like Specialized changed up parts by the time they got to 1993 You are going to love the ride! The relaxed geometry and longer chainstays are what gravel bike design is going back/forward? to in the near future. I would build it up as a 1x8 (38/12-34) Have fun with it!
It's looking good nice colour just bought a Raliegh impact for £15 it's not in bad condition all works but going to fit new tyres hope to get back into cycling following a lot of medical problems stroke, emphysema diabetic thanks for your tips good site
So I have a 1997 rock hopper. they began using threadless stems and v brakes by then. But I think it might be a 93. If you google it you find them in that color with yellow graphics like that
Got a steal of a deal on a rock hopper a few years ago. Frame was mint, drive shifter was shot but it had nice LX level parts all around it was just a size too big for me. Would love to find another, not as a nice as Stump jumper and a step up from the rock hopper (in the US) nice ride.
Nice build, I love my old MTBs, and do all my own work and overhauls, unfotunatl0y lost a steel 531 due to a completely seized BB, I tried everything, GT85, WD40, CFC (American pentrating gun oil) a breaker bar, and other methods but it was seized so reploaced, all my 1990s components are fully functionacl inc the thumbies, which have a friction mode which allows for 10 speed etc, or 7/8 speed indexed, only found out about the 8th hidden gear on the Deore II / XT thumbies v recently, they still work like new like in 1989 when they were made, and my Deore LX 1995 crankset will last forever unlike some newer road ones , I am after a nicer rigid frame & forks to replace my current generic 90s alu one , a specialzed wouild be lovely, bit they are quite expensive
I have to same bike /color . But it’s 93 expert. which has the suntour 8 speed system . I found a Raleigh 1998 pro line Bycicle. Donor . And I’m going to switch to rear wheel and front sprocket system , It’s all original. Except that the gears and sprockets are all worn away. I’ve tried for a long time to keep it all original. But it’s time to make it more functional. My question is. Will crank be the same.? if I take the crank apart. will the rally Shimano system. Fit in the bike . , I’m sure it’s not the best question. But thanks anyway., fun fact, I found his bicycle on La Palma in the Canary Island. I bought it for €50. a month later, the volcano came and wiped out the house where I bought it from. I actually saw the bike out of the corner of my eye. So I guess I kind of saved it.
Firstly, i like the way you film, narrate, build - and the bicycles you get out of it. ruclips.net/video/AfT9f5umv7k/видео.html This Bridge-Canti-Cable-Stop was replaced by that (silly?) Guide-Tube with the '93 catalog models. So this frame still has the cablestop on the toptube, useful for v-brake conversion. ...and there is no need to find a plastic-tube to insert in that (silly?) Guide-Tube for cantis.
Going to collect a 1995 rockhopper tomorrow evening. £15. Absolute bargain. Looks in real good conditon. Might keep it original or do a resto mod to it.
I found this very relaxing and I’m excited to learn more about bike repair
I love that colour.Looks a solid bike to get back on the road!
Can’t wait to finish this one!!
Great start to the Hopper.. looking forward to watching to the end of the build.
Man ! Get a trip across the franco-british channel and get yourself a Peugeot Express from the same era. You will not regret it :)
I’d love one! Definitely down for that idea!
Yup, that's metallic pink. I would call it fuchsia or magenta. Whatever you call it; it's a lovely color!!
🙌🏼

Why KoolStop brake pads does not sponsor 90's bikes videos is beyond me. They were the best upgrade for any cantilever .

What a start - looking forward to the next one(s)!! Gonna be interesting to see where you go with this. Cheers for mention as well!
It's what ever color you get when you mix pink and purple
i had a black one with pink logos. filled in most of the R of rock hopper with black paint and turned it into a cockhopper :')
