    I feel like if they had swapped the Cathay map and the Border Princes map, it would have felt a little better. Also, at this point, with the drip feed, I'm starting to think that they have like, 5 people working on the Old World lore and rules maybe once a week in a voice call. Seriously, the last real reveal of information was at the Border Princes map, and it was basically nothing other than "Hey the Border Princes exist, we're going to use it as a lore justification for some old world factions that might not normally fight each other, and here are some flags and names".

    • @karlfranzemperorofmandefil5547
      @karlfranzemperorofmandefil5547 2 года назад +1

      I'm really doubting old world is gonna be good. Literally all the things i like about Cathay and Kislev have been either in old world or are taken from popular Fan supllemets (this is a common GW strategy, plagiarizing fan content and getting past Copyright by giving it a slightly different name ), while it ignores my favorite parts of their old lore (and in case of Cathays Ying and Yang philosophy stupidly retcons it into something that is both less interesting and breaks Warhammer lore ). Then all factions are gonna lack their most fun tools (with the exception of High elves because those are essentially stagnant ancient Greek people with magic)

    I feel like the distance the game is away is part of the problem here.
    like it's completely understandable that the game is so far off but they just shouldn't have announced it so early.
    of course people are going to expect news about it once it's announced, if it hadn't been announced yet we wouldn't even have this current problem.
    if they announced it perhaps, 6-8 months before release then that's still plenty of time to build hype with much less risk of hype fading due to them being forced to drip feed information, announcing it years in advance just meant that there'd never be enough news to fill in the gap.
    and of course they can't now just stop giving news altogether, that'd annoy people and drain hype even more than dripfeeding does.

    • @username12120
      @username12120 2 года назад +1

      With every month that passes I am more and more convinced the initial announcement was just GWs efforts at stealing Mantic's thunder on their KoW 3rd edition announcement. The Old World must of been in initial design meetings when they made their announcement, why even do that if you're years away from even being at an advertising ready stage? Books published and piled up, models on pallets ready to ship? This is going to be dead on arrival.

    -They say the rules are gonna be from 1st to 8th...well, great I haven't played any, what does it mean ?
    -That obscure Region from the old lore is making a come back...again, I miss the part where I should care ?
    -New factions are being added. Okay, that's interesting, where are the miniatures to make me invest...and they don't show any.

    I agree. The drip feeding is getting very old very quickly. Sure they have to make sure everything is as good as possible before release but there's a fine line between that and looking as though you're neglecting it. At the end of the day it all boils down to public perception and the less often we see anything the more likely people are to think that they aren't taking it seriously.
    They've had years now. They could have been steadily cultivating a new audience alongside the returning veterans, forging a strong community. They could have been slowly releasing lore, allowing everyone to get on the same page well in advance and had a very passionate, knowledgeable fan base of players, both new and old, ready to dive in upon release. Instead they're in danger of missing the hype train altogether.

The first trailer more or less gives the plot away, within six months there is another which entirely gives it up, and then the film is released within 9 months of the first trailer drop. It's so fast, and you go in knowing exactly what's going to happen. Gaming is following this pattern. I didn't bother wanting to play Elden Ring because I felt like I already had by the time it came out; tbh, same to with Warhammer 3. Worse than the rifts and the flawed campaign was my feeling of being bored of it before I played it because of the sheer volume of content on my feeds that I wasn't even watching.
    So quite frankly, so long as the game and models are polished and high quality, I'd happily delay my gratification and wait another 5 years with one or two updates a year.
    The less I know going in, the more interested I am to find out. I'm not the only one.

    2 things spring to mind with me.
    As annoying as the drip feed tactic is and how it can be problematic for Sisters of Battle and their return it ultimately made them a very popular army.
    Other point having seen several fans comments over the past few years on things like deadlines, models, rules etc. I cannot help but feel a lot of fans don't have the realistic expectations that you do.

    ive said it 3 years ago and ill say it again. the less they tell us the better it is for the new old world edition. also every video about old world is only from the perspective of total war players or aos players. there are tons of people still playing fantasy 8th or the fanmade fantasy 9th. not having an internet presence because we just play the edition we love and wait to give old world a chance once it comes out. because we remember when gw didnt care about the marketing of new editions or "drip feeding hype" was when we got the best rules.
    there isnt an power balance issue if you find a powerbalance with your playgroup. i have 1 person in my playgroup thats really focussed on the overpowered stuff left behind in 8th but i still take him on with the wackier "weaker" armies and still come on top. so please groups that we the old timey gamers dont really like shush and wait untill they bring it out instead of needing some corporate overlord to hype you up and waste your money on bad product but good hype.
    ps. we as in my playgroup love the older models over the new aos age models

If your familiar with necromunda, blood bowl, titanicus and aeronautica. Basically hes been given freedom to receive all their old games but scale is only determined by immediate success. So he likyl only has minor resource maybe a starter box and a couple new kits and 1-2 rule books approved for the making. Then if it does well, they'll kick in the gears of their planned content or if it flops, likly disband or only release one or two more things before its cancelled.

    I don’t follow GW that much, but I recently got into 40K lore (ie Lutin) and base on that it just seems to me GW just drags things as much as they can, and even then just weirdly drops things mid way, and then comes back and picks them up unexpectedly. If they’re making money on old fantasy models, less effort means more money, so who knows, maybe I’ll be able to force my future kids to become Old World players

      I dont know if we can say it flopped. Has the hype for the game faltered? Big time yes but 2 major things down the line can revatalize the game the first of which is the workshop and the second is the immotal empires releases. If the latter of those 2 is a big fuck up specifically then yeah wh3 will truly flop

    • @shadowrider7072
      @shadowrider7072 2 года назад +1

      WH3 isn't a flop. It's a typical CA butchered release on a Total Warhammer game. This isn't copium. This isn't apologizing on behalf of CA. It's just one more tick on a proven track record of "oops" on CA's record. These games always start as hot garbage and get better as the maps get bigger and DLC is released.
      3k's failed because all it's DLC was exactly the same. Pretty much the same war, the same factions, just different starting time periods in the same stories. Only their last DLC was truly unique, and it was too little too late. The units were all too similar up until that point. Warhammer thrives on variety and asymmetry.
      Wh3 will only be a flop if they don't release a mortal empires map and either don't release any DLC, or only release DLC that doesn't add to the variety of the game unit and faction wise.
      WH1 was extremely limited. 4 factions, and each one could only take over cities of their "rival." Greenskins only fought Dwarfs. Empire only fought Vamps. Bretonnia was a filler area with nothing in it, wood elves didn't even exist, chaos was a poorly implemented afterthought DLC cash grab.
      WH2 had a buggy ME map, a barren roster for skaven, and Norsca got delayed over a year when they were supposed to be in the game day 1 because the guys at CA diverged their code too early in production and then lost some of the original. They literally had to re-write Norsca almost from scratch. Also, the ME map mass spawned the chaos invasion by letting doom stacks randomly spawn everywhere with no way to stop it if you weren't all the way in the NE of the map. It was years before they added a toggle to fix it.
      People tend to forget these things.... but some of us crusty old vets still have PTSD.

    My friend you need to take a moment. Your last videos are literally all complaining. I understand things are in a bad place for a series of outlets of warhammer but you need to break out creativity and talk about old lore, tell stories that you like, if I want bad news nancying I'll just tune on the news on TV. Talk to us about interesting things, no need to make a video on how Slaanesh needs chaos warriors with armor in tww and proceed to repeat it in five other videos and keep adding and adding whining.
    One video of complains and negativity is enough. I'm not saying to pretend things are good. Just every single video you're making is complain.

    • @TheGreatBookofGrudges

      You are aware those "negative videos" serve as feedback right? Which CA actively ask for lol

      My "negative" videos are done to help the game my dude
