In my county (Florida) Walmart & other stores are NOT allowed to sell fertilizer from June to October. The govt does not want Florida citizens to have a garden because we can grown all year long & produce our own food & sell veggies to others. Also, I was told by a HD garden center employee in Home Depot that you can not order online and have it shipped to my country (and most likely other counties). This employee told us that this particular local HD was fined for having 1 bag of fertilizer on their shelf when the govt sent inspectors to their store!! YEP. they sent govt inspectors to make sure the fertilizer was taken off the shelfs (the bag they found was an oversight by the HD employee & that is why it was not taken off the shelf). My local walmart has signs on their front door & also in the garden center listing why they are not allowe to sell fertilizer this time of year. The govt has always done everything in their power to prevent Florida citizens from growing a garden by using "reclaimed" water for garden use (which is sew water that is 'cleaned" and is only allowed for lawns not for drinking or home use water). On local govt city water sites it clearl states NOT to use reclaimed water for growing veggies, drinking or use on skin etc. Its that dangerous. So in FLorida it is VERY important to be very wary of weekend farmers market becasue they could be using this reclaimed water to grow their veggies without you realize and you will get sick down the way. Most here in florida if growing a garden collect gutter/roof water in barrels and use this water for their gardens. However, with all the weather manipulation we have been in a Florida state wide drought for 2+ years!!

Watching it NOW - They probably will close ALL the farmers markets and call them UNSAFE. We have several Farmers Markets I can go to in my area of Sol Cal but yeah a lot of them are a rip off. I have been growing a lot of my own vegetables the past 2 years. Praise the Lord for the miracle of planting a seed and having it produce eatable food to sustain us with. I don't comment much on a lot of groups anymore and I follow even fewer. I really enjoy your posts and videos. Sadly there are a lot of educated beyond their intelligence 'experts', that only want to tell me I'm doing things wrong, if I'm not doing it their way. If I've made soap for decades, it works great, it's easy to make and I love it, I'm really not too worried they think I need correcting and need to learn to do it the right way. I'm tired of telling people they need to learn to do things and holding the recent lock down that crippled our country in front of them as an example only to have it brushed off as a one time thing that couldn't ever happen again. I applaud the people that hang in there like you do and I enjoy watching your videos.
Dealing with think-they-know-it-alls is very exhausting. Most have little to show for all their boasting. As I age, I find peace in staying away and avoiding these judge(y) types. You only need to please God and yourself.

Me three! I'm trying to learn even the basics, for instance, pressure canning and whatever else might be useful. I was raised in crappy city life where I only grew up knowing food comes from a grocery store. I'm angry that nobody in my family ever showed me how to grow a garden and pressure can. Now I'm doing it but eager to learn more and these two Doug and Stacy are true and delightful to watch and listen to!

I tried to sell my veggies at a farmers market. I'm a one man band so I worked really hard. Up all night baggin n tagging n weighing. I had a tent w a nice professional banner. Great presentation. I had huge collards surrounding my spot. I had new coolers. I even had print outs of my products. I had a rolling rack with some medicinal plants. It was our town's first market. A lot of people showed up. My prices were in line w others. I actually gave away more than people wanted. At the end of the day I gave away food. I hate to see it go to waste. It was just way too much work for what I got out of it. I have several growing areas and I would rather share my garden space. I help them, they help me. Motivate each other and bring new ideas. I do like the fact that there are no reseller's at your market. We only had small farms and backyard growers.
@tracy I have the same issue only one of me and do all the work but find little supportive buyers. I also have a market, but I can't get growers to follow through with what they are supposed to provide then people gripe at me. I would love to find a group that worked together.
It is very hard to near impossible to make money, especially when you factor your time in. You need to find a niche crop. For me it is pumpkins. I grow traditional crops for myself and give the rest away at church. The pumpkins is where i make my money.
Tip for city food growers, plant in a potting soil bag cut open a rectangle on top of the bag,fluff soil, plant seeds,water sparingly when top of soil is dry looking, put in a sunny spot.I grow flowers, lettuce, peppers, carrots,peas,beans.try it for $6.00 each.
I’m great full that we have so many farmers here where I live in Michigan. You can drive by and see them working in their fields. They go to several local towns around. Very blessed as I cannot grow everything. ❤
Hello fellow Michigander. Where are you located? We have one farmers market but it's not all grown locally. I seen some selling stuff with stickers on them from stores . Wish we had a market like Doug just showed us .
That was absolutely amazing. If we could all just do something, anything, even if it's just one thing. I live in Oregon we bought a couple of acres to grow our own food. We have a well. They started flying drones over people's property and shuting down some people's small farms. They send out notices they're saying it has something to do with water . Watering their vegetables and livestock for their own consumption, not selling it. Ive heard say people who have wells they're going to put monitors on them to monitor water usage. None of this has happened to us yet, This is scary stuff if they have that much power to do this USA citizens. We started collecting rain water
My blackberries are huge and producing like they are in their glory. Just two plants that are2 years old. This is the first time I have grown them. They are fat and an inch long.such fun.
I was so excited about ten years ago when I discovered we had a farmer's market in our county. I went, and I do not think the very few things that were on offer were grown by the people who were selling them. The peppers and tomatoes came straight out of a grocery store and had been doubled in price. I guess they were recouping their gas expenditure. I bought nothing and didn't return. However, we do now have a farm that stocks an area nearby with seasonal veggies that they grow...it's on the honor system. We've needed a few things and were able to find them there. Saved money not having to drive to town to buy it, though it was a little pricier than I expected. We've been trying to grow more ourselves. That farmer's market is great! I wish all of them were like that. Thank you, Doug.

There are some seed companies that sell heirloom wheat seeds, so it is possible to find and grow your own. I read that you don't need to grow giant fields of wheat to have enough for a couple loaves of bread too! My plan is to grow some and store the wheat berries and only use a few seeds to grow more next year and grow my own stores of wheat berries too. Worth a shot at trying!
Love my garden and think it’s very important to learn to grow food. That being said, I’m trying mostly carnivore for a while. My attitude has changed a lot recently about many things. Live and learn. Love to you and your family! ❤️
We grow and raise a lot of our food and we go to our local farmers market every Saturday throughout the summer months. Our market is a producers only market. We also source things from our Amish friends. With all of this said we don't buy much from the store any more. Thanks for the video, Doug. Appreciate you brother

I live near many farms and support them. I also live not to far from Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. Usually do bi weekly trips to the Amish farm stands…I buy my beef from a local farmer. Trying to find a local farm for chicken….we have a local farm that grows hydroponic lettuce…it’s so delicious! I also try to grow some vegetables but unfortunately I live in a 55+ community with small yards. I do grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and a few herbs. Start growing microgreens they are fun and so easy to grow. Migardner did a video years ago about putting seeds in a container close together and soil 2" from top of bucket. When the greens were about 5" tall he trimmed his salad even with the top of bucket. He was able to get 4-6 cuttings from this. Personally we love the microgreens because we live in zone 10. I live in Philadelphia PA in a small 2 bedroom row home. I purchased a big raised planter and filled it with a good soil. I am growing tomatoes, cucumbers and watermelon in it. I think the watermelon was not a good choice though.

If you are unable to produce fresh food , Trade what you produce for fresh food. I grow Hay and trade it for food. My neighbor trades his repair services for fresh food. ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊❤❤❤
Greetings from England. It's always good to hear what's going on in other countries. Where i live we have no regular markets, so grow as much as I can and forage when the opportunity presents itself. I'm very fortunate to have a wife who supports me, and a Married son who is of the same beliefs. Keep the videos coming.

I finally joined the Weston A Price foundation last month and discovered that there's a farm share meetup 2 minutes from my house. I get wonderful farm fresh eggs, dairy and meet from them and everything is outstanding. It's so worth the $40 to join.

Ha! Just went to the farmers market today. Got local raw milk and local honey. Also have a quarter front of beef on order from a local "honest" meat processor. I also picked up another local meat rancher in addition to the two I already have. Garden gets bigger every season. I can, pressure can, freeze, ferment, pickle, smoke and salt cure (with redmonds salt). Fruit orchard is in the planting stage and already have apple trees planted that I grew from seed. They're over 2 years old now. I know what's in our food.
I love this! I live in California, but I have family that live in Missouri. Some live in or close to St Louis! I hope they go to this flea market. I know I will visit it whenever I visit Missouri next! Thanks, Doug & Stacy!
Happy to be part of our small town Farmers Market. Someone has honey, others have potatoes and strawberry plants, others have squash and I’ve got the eggs. Some have meat, tomatoes, herbal plant starts, baked goods, handmade items. It’s a good time.

You are so right ~ ' not all Farmers Markets are the same ' . We here in central Virginia are really struggling with our gardens this year . We finally 2 days ago got a light shower of rain after almost 2 MONTHS WITHOUT RAIN ! But even @ age 72 & 85 , hubby & I are doing the best we can with it . We have too many trees , huge berry bushes & fruit trees in a large area to water & everything is suffering ~ even us Every day the temps are around 97 & 98 with heat index of 105 - 110 ! Even the 85 chickens we have, know it is just too darn hot . 🥰

In my county (Florida) Walmart & other stores are NOT allowed to sell fertilizer from June to October. The govt does not want Florida citizens to have a garden because we can grown all year long & produce our own food & sell veggies to others.
Also, I was told by a HD garden center employee in Home Depot that you can not order online and have it shipped to my country (and most likely other counties). This employee told us that this particular local HD was fined for having 1 bag of fertilizer on their shelf when the govt sent inspectors to their store!! YEP. they sent govt inspectors to make sure the fertilizer was taken off the shelfs (the bag they found was an oversight by the HD employee & that is why it was not taken off the shelf). My local walmart has signs on their front door & also in the garden center listing why they are not allowe to sell fertilizer this time of year.
The govt has always done everything in their power to prevent Florida citizens from growing a garden by using "reclaimed" water for garden use (which is sew water that is 'cleaned" and is only allowed for lawns not for drinking or home use water). On local govt city water sites it clearl states NOT to use reclaimed water for growing veggies, drinking or use on skin etc. Its that dangerous.
So in FLorida it is VERY important to be very wary of weekend farmers market becasue they could be using this reclaimed water to grow their veggies without you realize and you will get sick down the way.
Most here in florida if growing a garden collect gutter/roof water in barrels and use this water for their gardens. However, with all the weather manipulation we have been in a Florida state wide drought for 2+ years!!

I don't comment much on a lot of groups anymore and I follow even fewer. I really enjoy your posts and videos. Sadly there are a lot of educated beyond their intelligence 'experts', that only want to tell me I'm doing things wrong, if I'm not doing it their way. If I've made soap for decades, it works great, it's easy to make and I love it, I'm really not too worried they think I need correcting and need to learn to do it the right way. I'm tired of telling people they need to learn to do things and holding the recent lock down that crippled our country in front of them as an example only to have it brushed off as a one time thing that couldn't ever happen again. I tried to sell my veggies at a farmers market. I'm a one man band so I worked really hard. Up all night baggin n tagging n weighing. I had a tent w a nice professional banner. Great presentation. I had huge collards surrounding my spot. I had new coolers. I even had print outs of my products. I had a rolling rack with some medicinal plants. It was our town's first market. A lot of people showed up. My prices were in line w others. I actually gave away more than people wanted. At the end of the day I gave away food. I hate to see it go to waste. It was just way too much work for what I got out of it. I have several growing areas and I would rather share my garden space. I help them, they help me. Motivate each other and bring new ideas.
I do like the fact that there are no reseller's at your market. We only had small farms and backyard growers.
@tracy I have the same issue only one of me and do all the work but find little supportive buyers. I also have a market, but I can't get growers to follow through with what they are supposed to provide then people gripe at me. I would love to find a group that worked together.

It is very hard to near impossible to make money, especially when you factor your time in. You need to find a niche crop. For me it is pumpkins. I grow traditional crops for myself and give the rest away at church. The pumpkins is where i make my money.
Tip for city food growers, plant in a potting soil bag cut open a rectangle on top of the bag,fluff soil, plant seeds,water sparingly when top of soil is dry looking, put in a sunny spot.I grow flowers, lettuce, peppers, carrots,peas,beans.try it for $6.00 each.

I’m great full that we have so many farmers here where I live in Michigan. You can drive by and see them working in their fields. They go to several local towns around. Very blessed as I cannot grow everything. ❤
Hello fellow Michigander. Where are you located? We have one farmers market but it's not all grown locally. I seen some selling stuff with stickers on them from stores . Wish we had a market like Doug just showed us .

That was absolutely amazing. If we could all just do something, anything, even if it's just one thing. Then gather together like this and share what we've done there would be no need for grocery stores with all their crickets and fake food ever again. I live in Oregon we bought a couple of acres to grow our own food. We have a well. They started flying drones over people's property and shuting down some people's small farms. They send out notices they're saying it has something to do with water . Watering their vegetables and livestock for their own consumption, not selling it. Ive heard say people who have wells they're going to put monitors on them to monitor water usage. None of this has happened to us yet, This is scary stuff if they have that much power to do this USA citizens. We started collecting rain water

packed over a gallon of our blackberries yesterday.
My blackberries are huge and producing like they are in their glory. Just two plants that are2 years old. This is the first time I have grown them. They are fat and an inch long.such fun.

I was so excited about ten years ago when I discovered we had a farmer's market in our county. I went, and I do not think the very few things that were on offer were grown by the people who were selling them. The peppers and tomatoes came straight out of a grocery store and had been doubled in price. I guess they were recouping their gas expenditure. I bought nothing and didn't return. However, we do now have a farm that stocks an area nearby with seasonal veggies that they grow...it's on the honor system. We've needed a few things and were able to find them there. Saved money not having to drive to town to buy it, though it was a little pricier than I expected. We've been trying to grow more ourselves.

Amazing people! We need to preserve our food at any cost! Is there any farmers out there who managed to restore our original wheat before it was modified?
There are some seed companies that sell heirloom wheat seeds, so it is possible to find and grow your own. I read that you don't need to grow giant fields of wheat to have enough for a couple loaves of bread too!
My plan is to grow some and store the wheat berries and only use a few seeds to grow more next year and grow my own stores of wheat berries too. Worth a shot at trying!

We grow and raise a lot of our food and we go to our local farmers market every Saturday throughout the summer months. Our market is a producers only market. We also source things from our Amish friends. With all of this said we don't buy much from the store any more. Thanks for the video, Doug. Appreciate you brother

I live near many farms and support them. I also live not to far from Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. Usually do bi weekly trips to the Amish farm stands…I buy my beef from a local farmer. Trying to find a local farm for chicken….we have a local farm that grows hydroponic lettuce…it’s so delicious! I also try to grow some vegetables but unfortunately I live in a 55+ community with small yards. I do grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and a few herbs. Start growing microgreens they are fun and so easy to grow. Migardner did a video years ago about putting seeds in a container close together and soil 2" from top of bucket. When the greens were about 5" tall he trimmed his salad even with the top of bucket. He was able to get 4-6 cuttings from this. Personally we love the microgreens because we live in zone 10. I live in Philadelphia PA in a small 2 bedroom row home. I purchased a big raised planter and filled it with a good soil. I am growing tomatoes, cucumbers and watermelon in it. I think the watermelon was not a good choice though.

If you are unable to produce fresh food , Trade what you produce for fresh food. I grow Hay and trade it for food.
My neighbor trades his repair services for fresh food.

I'm very fortunate to have a wife who supports me, and a Married son who is of the same beliefs. Keep the videos coming.

I finally joined the Weston A Price foundation last month and discovered that there's a farm share meetup 2 minutes from my house. Ha! Just went to the farmers market today. Got local raw milk and local honey. Also have a quarter front of beef on order from a local "honest" meat processor. I also picked up another local meat rancher in addition to the two I already have. Garden gets bigger every season. I can, pressure can, freeze, ferment, pickle, smoke and salt cure (with redmonds salt). Fruit orchard is in the planting stage and already have apple trees planted that I grew from seed. They're over 2 years old now. I know what's in our food.

Happy to be part of our small town Farmers Market. Someone has honey, others have potatoes and strawberry plants, others have squash and I’ve got the eggs. Some have meat, tomatoes, herbal plant starts, baked goods, handmade items. It’s a good time.

You are so right ~ ' not all Farmers Markets are the same ' . We here in central Virginia are really struggling with our gardens this year . We finally 2 days ago got a light shower of rain after almost 2 MONTHS WITHOUT RAIN ! But even @ age 72 & 85 , hubby & I are doing the best we can with it . We have too many trees , huge berry bushes & fruit trees in a large area to water & everything is suffering ~ even us Every day the temps are around 97 & 98 with heat index of 105 - 110 ! Even the 85 chickens we have, know it is just too darn hot . 🥰
