So here is the thing that I think was overlooked on the first story. The daughter is FIFTEEN!! That is well beyond the age where she is legally able to decide which parent she wants to be with DESPITE custody. If she wanted to live with her father (which will end up happening is mom keeps going down the road she's on), the there is very little OP can do short of proving Dad is unfit. Going to court will have the judge most likely abide by the daughters wishes. When that girl turns 18, she's gonna go NC or LC with mom, just wait and see.
And I bet when that happens, OP will be all "SEE, THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T WANTED HER WITH MY EX, HE MADE HER MIND AGAINST ME!" and probably the daughter will post about her in r/InsaneParents
when my daughter was 13 we asked her who she wanted to live with and she wanted to live with her father so I let her go. This was 26 years ago and today we have 2 grandchildren, and a great relationship.
I honestly hope the daughter does decide to live with dad soon, and OP never sees the kid on her (OPs) birthday again. Seriously, it'd be one thing if the dad had some history of being abusive or something, but if he did then OP absolutely would have mentioned that during the post. Okay I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. But why couldn't the mother have treated it like any other birthday party that her kid wants to go to. Went with her kept custody of her, let her see her dad, let her go to the party and then taking her home after the party.
Child of severely bad divorced parents here: The OP of the first story is absolutely the AH. The daughter is 15, she is old enough to make her own decisions and figure out who she wants to spend time with. OP’s “reasons” for not allowing her daughter to go to the party are nothing but vindictive and malicious. OP is using her child as a tool to get back at the father. I spent many events in which my divorced parents disagreed on time, did things that were vindictive, and then cops got called. It gave me PTSD. Going down a road like this will only give the daughter trauma. OP seriously needs to reconsider her choices before her daughter starts to hate her.

The dad knew what he was doing when he snuck his daughter out of school, and it was just as petty. They need to take it to court and leave their teenage daughter ENTIRELY out of it. This reminded me of the well-known yet hypocritical Chinese Idioms: "Parents can do no wrong" and "Respect the aged and the wise". I know those idioms meant well, but somehow they just become excuses for rude elders/parents to abuse youngsters, even when they're in the wrong. I'm so glad that all my elders in my family are reasonable and respectable people so I never have to deal with that kind of crap, but unfortunately, that's not the norm for most Asian families.
2nd Story: Dude got a humiliating lesson in the difference between learning about something secondhand (reading, being told by other people) and learning firsthand (experiencing for yourself). Being male, one of the first things I was told about periods is that unless you're a doctor (and even then, there are limits) is that you *DO NOT* act like you know more about them than the women who experience them. And that periods are like _literal_ snowflakes: not every woman experiences them the exact same way. I'm going to take a guess that this story took place in the U.S. and that the guy's parents never signed that sex ed note when he was younger.
There's a caveat to that snowflake line that might be helpful for you. One case where you should say something is if they're in extreme pain. I'm talking they're curling up in pain. A distressingly high number of women don't realize that isn't normal. There are several medical conditions that can cause it and they're, to varying degrees, treatable. It probably did take place in the US.
This, man! I got told numerous times by my PE teacher at school to "just move more and the cramps will go away", but I have a family history of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition where the uterus lining becomes inflamed during shedding/a period, and then doesn't heal right. My mother actually developed ovarian cancer and cysts due to the scar tissue rotting underneath her inflamed uterus lining (thankfully is now cancer free). I had to stay home for 2-3 DAYS at a time at the start of my periods because I couldn't move at all due to the pain. Eventually I got put on mephanamic acid to ease the cramps, before being put on the pill to manage anaemia cause by my heavy periods. Thankfully I don't get periods anymore, but I do still get the cramps (less so), and being told to "just move" when I was doubled over crying from pain? Bad move teach

one of my mates just up and left home at 14 to live with one of his aunts because his mother was to controlling and would not let him see his dad. his dad was not in a position to move in with (semi homeless) but one of his sisters was more than happy to provide a bed, food, schooling and drive him to soccer practice etc. all so he could have contact with his dad (and have a generally better life). he now owns his own home, has a fiancé, a kid and a really good job. all his siblings that did not get out are dole bludgers (people who are on unemployment benefits because the don't want to work) like his mother and a are generally bad people and I put that all down to her.
When "respect your elders" becomes "let adults treat you however they want without standing up for yourself" we have failed the kids of our society. That last story is a classic example of someone with power mistreating someone weaker than herself. You can bet that if that boy had "borrowed" her sons' bikes, their would have been a serious recourse.
Last story: OP's mum should have been proud of her son for standing up for and protecting his sister. It takes some character as a 14 year old to approach elders in situations like that.

The idea is that respect would be earned by experiencing decades of life and by getting old, you've proven yourself worthy of being listened to. Of course that was millennia ago when the idea of someone reaching 50 was rare but now, thanks to advancements, just because you're old doesn't mean you've proven yourself in thoughts and deeds to be worth listening to.

Period poop is an actual "term", might be slang. Since a lot of girls get either loose or hard stool when on their period, since the bowels get affected by the cramps, and you end up being stuck with blood and loose stool, and it just sucks.

For the second story: This reminds me of a HILARIOUS convo I had with a coworker. This dude I didn't like much, let's call him Samson, was out for a few days. We naturally thought he was playing hooky, because the guy had attendance issues, but eventually like 4 days later, he returned. Turned out he had a kidney stone. Again, I didn't like the dude much, so I only heard it secondhand, but I wouldn't wish a kidney stone on my worst enemy. I expressed my condolences to the coworker who relayed the information to me, and prepared to go on my merry way. Then the coworker who told me said that Samson told him "yeah, kidney stones are way more painful for men, because the opening of the penis is smaller than the opening of the vagina." I DIED LAUGHING. The coworker that relayed the information is like... in his 20s, so that's already pretty bad -- BUT SAMSON WAS 38 HE WAS 38 AND THOUGHT THAT *WOMEN PEED OUT OF THEIR VAGINAS* AND NOBODY EVER BOTHERED CORRECTING HIM. To this day it remains the funniest shit I've ever heard, and I still think about it every time I see him now. That was about 5 years ago, so Samson is now in his early to late 40s. I wonder if he still thinks women pee out of their vaginas. 😂😂😂
As someone who grew up with divorced parents, the first story was insane. My parents would always be flexible for events, especially things like birthdays. Jeez.
My parents hate each other but was still willing to be flexible in terms of visitations or holidays. If my sister and I got cast in the Nutcracker then my dad would have us for Christmas because the Nutcracker was Thanksgiving weekend. Honestly I prefer Christmas at my father's because it's a longer visit.
The first story their daughter is 15 and in most states if she says she prefers staying with one parent over the other courts will usually listen to them and grant it to where the other parent will have the child every weekend or every other weekend so OP better start acting better
... Speaking from experience, that is not true. You have to be legally of age to decide for yourself. And what he did was kidnapping. If the courts find out he pulled this kind of stunt, he could’ve lost all visitation rights and been thrown in jail. He’s lucky she didn’t press charges, my parents would’ve.
@@g.s.651 that is factually wrong. There are alot of states that give weight to a kids preference on which parent they want to stay with. They have to be 14 and older, look it up. In my state it's true.
Some states it's 14, others it's 15 or 16, and it's possible some states may require 18, but I haven't heard of any. Individual states have the right to make their own laws on this. I have heard of a custody case (on mobile, cannot research and link, sorry) one parent in one state, other in another, and each had custody hearings in their own state. Needless to say, the judges didn't agree, and multiple lawsuits came later. I think the kid's opinion and wishes should always be considered, with an independent party (child psychologist, or other specialist) giving a report to the court. My opinion, not what law says or requires. Too many children are at the mercy of their parent's "covert war."

Related (sort of) to the second story. I heard about a doctor who told his patient who needed to have one testicle removed, that as a result, he could only father children of one sex. That doctor must have miss class the day meiosis was discussed. And the first woman should have gotten 5 out of 5. She’s in deep danger of her daughter cutting ties with her when she turns 18.

The first story, I'm giving mom 4,5 out of 5. She's actively using the kid to hurt her ex. This behaviour is abusive, manipulative and will cause the daughter to go no contract as soon as she turns 18. I'm a divorced kid myself. Trading time is always an option and the laws have to change from "the parents right to see the kid" to "the kids right to see the parent". Also, if the parents were still together, the daughter would attend the dads birthday, so taking that away from her is nuts. Grounding her on top of that is abusive.

lol The period one... it reminds me of several years ago when I went to the ER because ... incoming TMI.... I'd been bleeding from the butt for over a week and got so lightheaded that I could barely function. It had happened before but usually stopped after a day or two. So this time I was afraid of like, cancer or something. Anyway, while getting a massive blood infusion (my hemoglobin was the lowest many of the nurses had EVER seen) a general doctor came around and without even examining me, INSISTED that I must just be on my period. I was like, "Uh, no. This blood is not coming from my vagina. I know what a period is like man." He barely even came into the room, said it must be my period and he was gonna send in a gyno to give me a pelvic exam. So the gyno came in and I told her what was going on and she apologized, did the exam anyway and was like "Yup. Not your period. That other guy is dumb. I will send a different general guy over."
With the period story there is a huge difference between laughing at someone for not understanding something and laughing at someone for doubling down on not understanding something

Yes the first one is a YTA story, but in law technicality the dad kidnapped his daughter because he did not have permission to have her at that moment according to their custody agreement. I remember first being married 23 years ago. I had a sister and a mother who explained the birds and bees early on and a sex education class long before High School. So, my wife has me shopping for everything. I get to the feminine hygiene isle and I am overwhelmed by the options. There were different sizes of pads and I had no clue what to pick up. I thought they were like women’s shoe size based on vaginal shape. Eventually, I got educated and banned from grocery shopping as I would still shop like a single guy, and that was just not compatible with her need to have ingredients and cook everything. I got like survival food that you could grill or make easily.
The whole "it's my day!!" thing from divorced parents really fucked up my partner when we were just friends in high school. We had a project at my house and when it was time for them to go home, one parent couldn't pick up my friend, so they asked the other parent. The one whose day it was said they'd call the cops if the other parent came instead, so my partner had to wait until one parent's relative came to pick them up instead. It was really weird to me, and my partner was embarrassed. My parents would soon be separated and even they were horrified

I remember seeing a clip from judge Judy or something where the judge put the mom in her place and told her the father was as entitled to the kid he created as much as the mother. Dads shouldn’t have to go through hell to spend time with their kids.

Story 1: Even without knowing about that subtle wording, you can tell that OP was being too unreasonable. Even that punishment that OP unnecessarily threw at the daughter speaks volumes about her character.

Because objectively, that is what legally happened. He could’ve been arrested. The weird thing about the first story was the woman saying she “has her reasons” as to why the father couldn’t have custody that day, but she never goes on to explain those reasons… I thought maybe there was a past history of a slew of custody violations or something else that would make a swap of days unreasonable and her not the A hole, but she never gave any background. I would assume if she had better reasons, she would have given them to try and get more people on her side, but as it stands it sounds like her “reasons” are mostly spite.

Story 3 where OPs brother is massively irresponsible and just dumps his son on others expecting them to care for his son? He asked you to speak to this woman, right? I’d call her up and be completely honest with her, that he dumped his kid on you, that he literally snuck into your house behind your back as you were showering, and just dumped his kid, knowing you had work. That he refused to pick up his kid until threatened, that he expected you to not show up to work and avoid responsibilities because he demanded it and because he’s irresponsible. I’d call her up and be completely honest about the kind of guy he is, because he would deserve it. Maybe then he’ll learn a lesson, but I highly doubt it, he needs to be held responsible tho.

My exwife has been using our children as a weapon and gone out of her way to make that I don’t get to see our children. She has lied about me, made false allegations, her and her mother have poisoned the children’s minds. The worst part is that my exwife is racist and sexist. Her and her mother have repeatedly said that anytime our son had made a mistake, they’d say, “It’s because of your Y chromosome”. Because of her actions, I haven’t seen our children for ten years. First story: Depends on where the story takes place, the daughter can testify in court to give her opinion and prefrance on her living arrangement. I would recommend the father takes this to court because this lady is selfish, spiteful, vindictive and cruel. This poor girl deserves better.

For the 2nd story it's actually really common for men not to understand woman's anatomy because alot of schools don't teach young boys on that subject. It's something you could easily look up and find out for yourself but as we know most people don't do that and just assume.

So here is the thing that I think was overlooked on the first story. The daughter is FIFTEEN!! That is well beyond the age where she is legally able to decide which parent she wants to be with DESPITE custody. If she wanted to live with her father (which will end up happening is mom keeps going down the road she's on), the there is very little OP can do short of proving Dad is unfit. Going to court will have the judge most likely abide by the daughters wishes.
When that girl turns 18, she's gonna go NC or LC with mom, just wait and see.

when my daughter was 13 we asked her who she wanted to live with and she wanted to live with her father so I let her go. This was 26 years ago and today we have 2 grandchildren, and a great relationship.

The OP of the first story is absolutely the AH. The daughter is 15, she is old enough to make her own decisions and figure out who she wants to spend time with. OP’s “reasons” for not allowing her daughter to go to the party are nothing but vindictive and malicious. OP is using her child as a tool to get back at the father. I spent many events in which my divorced parents disagreed on time, did things that were vindictive, and then cops got called. It gave me PTSD. Going down a road like this will only give the daughter trauma. OP seriously needs to reconsider her choices before her daughter starts to hate her.

This reminded me of the well-known yet hypocritical Chinese Idioms: "Parents can do no wrong" and "Respect the aged and the wise". I know those idioms meant well, but somehow they just become excuses for rude elders/parents to abuse youngsters, even when they're in the wrong. I'm so glad that all my elders in my family are reasonable and respectable people so I never have to deal with that kind of crap, but unfortunately, that's not the norm for most Asian families.

2nd Story: Dude got a humiliating lesson in the difference between learning about something secondhand (reading, being told by other people) and learning firsthand (experiencing for yourself). Being male, one of the first things I was told about periods is that unless you're a doctor (and even then, there are limits) is that you *DO NOT* act like you know more about them than the women who experience them. And that periods are like _literal_ snowflakes: not every woman experiences them the exact same way.
I'm going to take a guess that this story took place in the U.S. and that the guy's parents never signed that sex ed note when he was younger.
There's a caveat to that snowflake line that might be helpful for you. One case where you should say something is if they're in extreme pain. I'm talking they're curling up in pain. A distressingly high number of women don't realize that isn't normal. There are several medical conditions that can cause it and they're, to varying degrees, treatable.

This, man! I got told numerous times by my PE teacher at school to "just move more and the cramps will go away", but I have a family history of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition where the uterus lining becomes inflamed during shedding/a period, and then doesn't heal right. My mother actually developed ovarian cancer and cysts due to the scar tissue rotting underneath her inflamed uterus lining (thankfully is now cancer free). I had to stay home for 2-3 DAYS at a time at the start of my periods because I couldn't move at all due to the pain. Eventually I got put on mephanamic acid to ease the cramps, before being put on the pill to manage anaemia cause by my heavy periods. Thankfully I don't get periods anymore, but I do still get the cramps (less so), and being told to "just move" when I was doubled over crying from pain? Bad move teach

one of my mates just up and left home at 14 to live with one of his aunts because his mother was to controlling and would not let him see his dad. his dad was not in a position to move in with (semi homeless) but one of his sisters was more than happy to provide a bed, food, schooling and drive him to soccer practice etc. all so he could have contact with his dad (and have a generally better life).
he now owns his own home, has a fiancé, a kid and a really good job. all his siblings that did not get out are dole bludgers (people who are on unemployment benefits because the don't want to work) like his mother and a are generally bad people and I put that all down to her.

That last story is a classic example of someone with power mistreating someone weaker than herself. Period poop is an actual "term", might be slang. Since a lot of girls get either loose or hard stool when on their period, since the bowels get affected by the cramps, and you end up being stuck with blood and loose stool, and it just sucks.

At first, I was thinking the daughter was a smaller child and the father was somehow a terrible person. For the second story: This reminds me of a HILARIOUS convo I had with a coworker.
This dude I didn't like much, let's call him Samson, was out for a few days. We naturally thought he was playing hooky, because the guy had attendance issues, but eventually like 4 days later, he returned. Turned out he had a kidney stone.
Again, I didn't like the dude much, so I only heard it secondhand, but I wouldn't wish a kidney stone on my worst enemy. I expressed my condolences to the coworker who relayed the information to me, and prepared to go on my merry way.
Then the coworker who told me said that Samson told him "yeah, kidney stones are way more painful for men, because the opening of the penis is smaller than the opening of the vagina."

As someone who grew up with divorced parents, the first story was insane. My parents would always be flexible for events, especially things like birthdays. Jeez.

If my sister and I got cast in the Nutcracker then my dad would have us for Christmas because the Nutcracker was Thanksgiving weekend. The first story their daughter is 15 and in most states if she says she prefers staying with one parent over the other courts will usually listen to them and grant it to where the other parent will have the child every weekend or every other weekend so OP better start acting better

@@g.s.651 that is factually wrong. There are alot of states that give weight to a kids preference on which parent they want to stay with. They have to be 14 and older, look it up. In my state it's true.
Some states it's 14, others it's 15 or 16, and it's possible some states may require 18, but I haven't heard of any. Individual states have the right to make their own laws on this.
I have heard of a custody case (on mobile, cannot research and link, sorry) one parent in one state, other in another, and each had custody hearings in their own state. Needless to say, the judges didn't agree, and multiple lawsuits came later.
I think the kid's opinion and wishes should always be considered, with an independent party (child psychologist, or other specialist) giving a report to the court. My opinion, not what law says or requires. Too many children are at the mercy of their parent's "covert war."

The first story, I'm giving mom 4,5 out of 5. She's actively using the kid to hurt her ex. This behaviour is abusive, manipulative and will cause the daughter to go no contract as soon as she turns 18. I'm a divorced kid myself. Trading time is always an option and the laws have to change from "the parents right to see the kid" to "the kids right to see the parent". Also, if the parents were still together, the daughter would attend the dads birthday, so taking that away from her is nuts. Grounding her on top of that is abusive.

lol The period one... it reminds me of several years ago when I went to the ER because ... incoming TMI.... I'd been bleeding from the butt for over a week and got so lightheaded that I could barely function. It had happened before but usually stopped after a day or two. So this time I was afraid of like, cancer or something. Anyway, while getting a massive blood infusion (my hemoglobin was the lowest many of the nurses had EVER seen) a general doctor came around and without even examining me, INSISTED that I must just be on my period. I was like, "Uh, no. This blood is not coming from my vagina. I know what a period is like man." He barely even came into the room, said it must be my period and he was gonna send in a gyno to give me a pelvic exam. So the gyno came in and I told her what was going on and she apologized, did the exam anyway and was like "Yup. Not your period. That other guy is dumb. I will send a different general guy over."
With the period story there is a huge difference between laughing at someone for not understanding something and laughing at someone for doubling down on not understanding something

Yes the first one is a YTA story, but in law technicality the dad kidnapped his daughter because he did not have permission to have her at that moment according to their custody agreement. Not only that but the daughter is almost a legal adult and if the mom tried bringing that to court she could get in trouble for that, the father would get in trouble too but not as much trouble. Ultimately the court would probably decide that the daughter gets to spend the parents birthday woth them even if it's not the whole day. I remember first being married 23 years ago. I had a sister and a mother who explained the birds and bees early on and a sex education class long before High School. So, my wife has me shopping for everything. I get to the feminine hygiene isle and I am overwhelmed by the options. There were different sizes of pads and I had no clue what to pick up. I thought they were like women’s shoe size based on vaginal shape. Eventually, I got educated and banned from grocery shopping as I would still shop like a single guy, and that was just not compatible with her need to have ingredients and cook everything. I got like survival food that you could grill or make easily.
The whole "it's my day!!" thing from divorced parents really fucked up my partner when we were just friends in high school. We had a project at my house and when it was time for them to go home, one parent couldn't pick up my friend, so they asked the other parent. The one whose day it was said they'd call the cops if the other parent came instead, so my partner had to wait until one parent's relative came to pick them up instead. It was really weird to me, and my partner was embarrassed. My parents would soon be separated and even they were horrified

The weird thing about the first story was the woman saying she “has her reasons” as to why the father couldn’t have custody that day, but she never goes on to explain those reasons… I thought maybe there was a past history of a slew of custody violations or something else that would make a swap of days unreasonable and her not the A hole, but she never gave any background. I would assume if she had better reasons, she would have given them to try and get more people on her side, but as it stands it sounds like her “reasons” are mostly spite.

Story 3 where OPs brother is massively irresponsible and just dumps his son on others expecting them to care for his son? He asked you to speak to this woman, right? I’d call her up and be completely honest with her, that he dumped his kid on you, that he literally snuck into your house behind your back as you were showering, and just dumped his kid, knowing you had work. That he refused to pick up his kid until threatened, that he expected you to not show up to work and avoid responsibilities because he demanded it and because he’s irresponsible. I’d call her up and be completely honest about the kind of guy he is, because he would deserve it. Maybe then he’ll learn a lesson, but I highly doubt it, he needs to be held responsible tho.

She has lied about me, made false allegations, her and her mother have poisoned the children’s minds. The worst part is that my exwife is racist and sexist.
