  • When Jaquelyn Ryan lost the use of her legs due to an epidural abscess, it was uncertain if she would ever walk again. But Jackie, a personal trainer, was determined to make the most of her inpatient stay at HHH, pushing herself in her therapy sessions and cheering on others along the way.
After achieving walking with bracing before her inpatient discharge, Jackie returned to the hospital’s Outpatient Neurology Program. Now, she has regained so much strength that she never uses her bracing and rarely uses a wheelchair at all.
For her incredible achievements, Jackie was presented with the Continuing Care Cup at the 118th Helen Hayes Hospital Honors Assembly on September 20, 2018.
