I have this old safe that I got in like 2006 or 2007 and it was locked with the keys inside. its been locked all these years and I opened it using this method hoping to find some past toy or treasure in there AND LO AND BEHOLD I OPENED AN EMPTY BOX BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, I FEEL UNSTOPPABLE NOW!!!!

Works with a small paper clip also. Have to pull the paperclip apart and fashion it in a u-shape, and insert it with the ends up, like you did with the bobby pin. Thanks for the tip!!

Thank you! I used the same method, but with a paper clip bent to look like a bobby pin. I was able to access some important documents after 6 months :)

thank u so much! i bought mine to hold my moms meds. & never stashed a key & finally lost both yesterday. i did not want to tell her since i literally put all her meds in yesterday. im not locking again til i find key.

Ok, does this method reset the code on a keypad safe? I ask because there interior override DOES; thereby letting someone know you were hypothetically/allegedly in there. Will the keypad unlock code still work after doing this? Thanks!
I suspect that it does not reset the code. I am certain that my piece of shit room mate has been accessing my safe in this manner behind my back--But never was my passcode reset. You ask a really good question here.

my problem is I forgot my code and I DO HAVE my key but something is wrong with the latch inside bc the key turns the key part but it won't unlock the big turn knob. I sure wish I could figure this out
i had similar trouble but if you rotate the key as far as you can, hold it there and simultaneously turn the knob it may work

I've seen safes that come with a different type of keyed lock where it's not an ordinary key but rather a much bigger, totally differently shaped key-like device that functions just like an ordinary key except that the lick itself and the key do not look like a traditional key. Sorry I can't describe it better but hopefully you can picture what I'm describing. Q: do you think THAT type of keyed lock is also easy to break into??? What kind of safe can I get THATS actually secure?! What about a thumbprint access safe? If anyone can suggest a secure safe please let me know. Thank you so much.
