He is always so hesitant to drop. He does it so slowly and looks so sad! It's really cute, and shows his determination to do as you say, even if he doesn't want to.
Depends on how badly he wants the toy. Sometimes he does great (a true drop to the floor), sometimes he's even slower than this 😅 he's so sweet. He does his best.
I am really enjoying your channel, so glad you started it. Can you do a couple of training videos of how you trained obedience and some tasks like cover. Looking forward to future videos.
Great idea! Long story short, food luring and "interim commands" have been really helpful. Interim meaning an in-between. So for cover, he knew DOWN, so I could use food to lure him over my lap, then use DOWN to get him to lay down for the COVER, then reward for COVER. You might notice in this video I always have him SIT to get lined up well to cover. From a sit it's easy to lure them down over your lap with food! Or by using DOWN. Buddy was very against laying on my lap at first 😝 Anyway. I wrote your suggestion down on my list to hopefully make a video one day, but I hope that helps in the meantime =)
@@MommingwithMigraine Thanks for the how to in words I am going to try lining up Ziva by doing sit. That may be a step she needs. Thank you for the quick response! I look forward to seeing a video about training different tasks and obedience.
Building toy drive for my SDIT has been such a painstaking process for me. I’ll find that he’ll engage with a tug toy (something he goes crazy for if he’s in the particular mood) for maybe a few seconds, and then just drop it. He’ll want to engage with ME, my person, like snuggling or doing body positioning exercises with me. I want him to understand that the way to interact with me is THROUGH the toy, but he loses all interest in grabbing it and just wants to nose/roughhouse with me and my body. Womp wommmppp.
I think you could teach him to go and bring you a basket with a handle. Put baby diapers and wipes in it. When the baby is born he could bring you the diaper basket to wherever you are and need it.
I do this all the time to with my golden doodle SD. So important to combine work, break, work, break. And the break are fun together. Auggie loves to sit between my legs when I'm on the floor. Just like your thumb nail 🤣 He slobers to when I can find treats that he actually likes.... And it's gross. 😊

i would love doing this but my service dog isnt a fan of toys because we lost her favorite one that was a stuffed chicken named chicki and shes always been heart broken and misses chicki she hasnt played since its been around 2 years :( we need to find chicki but idk where to start looking
I didn't, Buddy is a natural alerter (hence the strange nose thing), and I shaped his original faint alert to be more obvious to me. I know migraines can be scent trained though, and just a heads-up, I heard faint alerts need to be natural. Don't take my word for it though!
This was super interesting. As someone who is in the Guide Dog application process I always liked learning about different types of service dogs and different handlers with a training them. I had heard of structure play before, but I hadn’t thought of all the different benefits to rewarding with toys and play then treats. It makes sense though that it would illuminate extra calories for the dog, be more cost effective and be better able to simulate real life distractions. How do you que or redirect him when he loses focus or get too riled up? Also, if he had gone for the toy after you told him to leave it would you have corrected him and if so how?
excuse my English but I watched one of your videos about youre episodes and you said that you wish you had the energi to collect that maskin too watch over your blood sirkulasjon what about learning buddy too collect it for you just an idea mabee that will help you
Had you heard of Structured Play before? Will you be implementing this with your pup??
Proof that Buddy is a giant lap dog and it's a perfect job for him to be your service dog. He's going to be such a good big brother!
He is a lap dog when he's playing!! Pretty heavy though 😅

I have English setters (just pet/show/agility dogs, not service dogs), so I TOTALLY get the lippy, drooly grossness training with treats! 😝
Very lovely, thank you for sharing!

That's gotta be a bit frustrating. They are so set in their personalities 😝

Agreed! Makes their whole life fun. They love the structure when it's not overbearing. Soooo cute 😍
Where did you get you me purple shirt? I really love it!!!

Did you do scent training for both the pots and migraine alerts?

How did you train buddy to alert to your POTS? I have POTS too and a SDiT.
